Quote:7. This task is exclusive to non-recreate rookies of the S30 class and later. In 400 words or more, how has your experience been in the league? Who have you met that has made your time here more fun, friendly, and exciting? Have you been satisfied with your player’s early start? What was it like being drafted for the first time? Do you have any comments or suggestions for the entire league that you think should be implemented?
Coming from the SHL as a long time sim leaguer, it was interesting to get into the ISFL for the first time and really sink my teeth in. For starters, it is a lot like the classic SHL. With the banking subforum, the way the PTs are lined out, the forum formatting. While for some that may not be the best thing, for me I absolutely love it. I miss the classic SHL sometimes, and it was nice to get that back in a way.
I will say there are some confusing parts to the forum for me. Such as the bank and the player transactions subforums being separated. The things that get put on the side bar that I can't seem to find anywhere else, which ultimately make mobile more difficult to use at times. Having retirements away from the create a player forum, which I think ultimately is an easier balance the SHL has.
I have also been confused many times about team histories and feel like the wiki is hit or miss. A lot of teams don't have their history updated. They may have the team roster updated, but their records aren't fully fleshed out. Also trying to align a year to the season numbers can get confusing, I can't tell what 2043 is, is it S27? Who knows, now I have to go through another tab to try and line it up.
It has definitely had some hiccups, and I feel the mobile experience -- which is my most common way of interacting with the site -- could use some work as it doesn't highlight any threads and I end up having to go through subforums to look for things to get to know rather than seeing popular threads popping up.
There has been a lot of good here. I have encountered a lot of great people, from Kotasa to Gyles. Tijuana has been a wonderful place to be that often is a really fun time. I decided to come over to have a player I could relax a bit with and just focus on me with, and it has been nice to find somewhere that I really can just sit back and enjoy.
I have found it interesting the amount of people asking about position changing, which is fine. I get it, there are a lot of positions and not really many playing spots for those positions. You only really play like three or four defensive linemen, or linebackers, or defensive backs, so on. As the team grows, you're bound to have some difficulty fitting people in. It just does make it odd from the SHL perspective, as we have nine forward spots, six defense spots and two goalie spots. Ultimately, we don't need a lot of movement from players, and so I didn't expect it here even though it definitely makes a lot of sense.

Quote:16. This task is exclusive to recreate/non-recreate rookies of the S30 class and later. The season is over and the draft is coming up. What do you bring to a team, and why should a team choose to take a chance on you next season?
This is interesting, because I have never really scouted myself before. I have scouted a lot of people, and I am very opinionated usually in that regard. However, I definitely have not turned that inward to think about myself.
I would say an average earner, to start with. I keep up, and make sure tasks are done and I buy my training. I work on media occasionally -- which is to say I did media before the season and then am doing it again at the end of the season, but it isn't the most consistent thing in the world from me.
After looking at earning, it would be best to think about fit for the locker room. You do get somebody experienced in sim leagues with me. I have been around the block many, many times. I have won, lost, and anything else when it comes to the SHL. I have the experience of different kinds of locker rooms, and have yet to be turned off by one. I would say that I'm not exactly a 'driver' in the locker room as I need to be more of that in my own locker room in the SHL, but I have no issue helping to push the conversation and getting involved in the locker room discussions.
I can get along with just about anybody, and it makes for a good environment at the least. I would say ultimately, with me you get a person that has been through ups and downs and can help with that, but somebody who has a primary focus away from this league and so there is always a risk involved. You would get a good earner and somebody who fits a locker room, but I don't know that I would call myself an elite prospect.

Quote:27. What team do you think has the best branding in the league? What team do you think could use a refresh? Why?
I find this to be a really interesting question to answer, because I was actually just talking about it recently. I don't really pay too close of attention to branding and logos, mostly because I spend more time on mobile where it just is not a highlighted part of the site.
I will start with the fact that orange is my favorite color, so I love the Orange County Otters for sure. Though, the logo is a bit off-putting to me. I'm not a big fan of it, but I don't hate it.
I think the color scheme for the Austin Copperheads is great and their logo looks really good. It looks menacing, which is something I want out of a logo typically. I like the overall asthetic.
As a Colorado sports fan -- in spite of being nowhere near there -- I feel a love for the Colorado Yetis, though it isn't the most menacing or scary looking logo out there. It is a good logo, but I would say it is one that could use a revamp potentially. Though, as somebody who isn't really a graphics person, I have no idea what to do other than add nostrils -- that's an old SHL Edmonton Blizzard joke.
Finally the Chicago Butchers have a logo that I absolutely adore. It is scary in a very real sense, it looks fascinating and ilicits a reaction. It is one hell of a logo, and I really enjoy it.
In terms of teams that could use some work, first off I feel like the New Orleans teams of the SHL and ISFL need to swap. The Second Line sounds like a great hockey team name, though maybe a bit too on the nose. The Spectres on the other hand could probably fit in the ISFL pretty well.
The San Jose Sabrecats look like they're from the Thundercats logo. I love the thundercats, but I just don't feel like that's a great thing. I would definitely like that to be adjusted.
Berlin has a great logo when you pull up the full image, but most people are seeing just the little section that appears on the main site page and it looks like a kind of weird frog. I love the logo, but I wonder if there's a way to rework that banner on the site.
Lastly, I find Honolulu to be interesting because I don't know what Hahalua means and I think it's just fun to have things like that which I'm sure are great. So props to them for something that is remarkably different in a way.
