14. Describe your player and/or team’s journey through this latest season. What were the highlights? What were the lower points? What might you have done differently? What are your expectations for next season?
So for last Seasons Ultimus Week i detailed the Journey of my DSFL Team the London Royals. For this season i thought it would be an interesting approach to talk about my ISFL team that I haven't yet played for The Philadelphia Liberty. I know coming into the Season no one was giving the Liberty an credit. The vibe in the Locker Room after the first victory was amazing you could even in a discord Locker Room you could feel the energy. Ryan Negs came out firing for over 330 yards and Lonnie Jackson going for 109 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Pair that with the Rookie Xavier Walls reintroducing himself to the League in the way of 8 Tackles 1 Tackle for a Loss, 1 Sack, 2 Pass Deflections, and 1 Interception. What a way to make your ISFL debut. Following the game we had plenty to celebrate unfortunately the celebration didn't last for long. We would go on to lose our next two games. A nail biter to San Jose that came down to the last minute and a Disappointing 31-7 loss to the Yellowknife Wraith.
Now sitting at a 1-2 record the vibe in our Locker Room didn't change much. While the celebration may have stopped the positive outlook and expectations for the future remained high, even through the four game losing streak we were about to endure at the hands of the Berlin Firesalmanders, Colorado Yeti, Sarasota Sailfish and Arizona Outlaws. While hitting a low point in my opinion the two weeks that followed would be two of the best performances of the season. The week 9 Victory over Orange County represented more than just a victory in the win column to me. This win was deserved, Philly had remained positive and upbeat place to be even with the rough season. Defeating a team that was in the playoff chase gave us a glimpse of the other side of a rebuild. Next stop week 10 and the Liberty are Rolling with a 42-7 trouncing of the Baltimore Hawks. In a game where Negs would complete 14/15 for only 165 yards but capping it off with a 3 Touchdown performance. Anders Christiansen was the workhorse racking up 108 yards and 2 touchdowns and Lonnie Jackson taking it for a Touchdown as well. It was relieving to have a 2 game win streak going even if only temporarily. We would finish the season 1-5 with our only victory coming over the Eventual ISFL Champion New York Silverback's 31-27.
I'm excited for the future with Philadelphia and cant wait to be a contributing factor on the team. Maybe I'm biased but I feel like this is a team about to step into its prime and from what i can tell that Defense is looking scary. All I know is I'm glad I don't play Offense and Next season will be great. RING THE BELL!!
27. What team do you think has the best branding in the league? What team do you think could use a refresh? Why?
The best Branding in the League in my opinion depends on which part of the branding we are discussing. When it comes to the Logo and Colors I've always been a fan of the Chicago Butchers. The hand with the bloody cleaver is edgy and even a little morbid. It pushes the limits on the average sports team representation. Judging based off Mascot alone I love the Colorado Yeti. Its unique yet recognizable, Serious with a touch of playfulness and a perfect representation of Colorado. Maybe its appealing to my interest in certain Cryptozoological stories but I'm not sure you could do any better for that area.
When it comes to Teams i think could use a little help that goes to The San Jose Sabercats. The Sabercats are in Desperate need of a rebranding. Sorry Seb and any other friends i have there but its true. If I was in charge id start with the Name and continue on from there. The Logo itself reminds me of a very generic NCAA Style creation, with all the talented Graphic Designers we have in this League I'm shocked they haven't had submitted a change. The biggest issue I have with the Team is it already exists. The San Jose Sabercats were an Arena Football Team that alone should be enough for a rebranding. I'm hoping in the next few seasons we will see a brand new Team emerge from what used to be the Sabercats Branding.
29. Affliate PT from either SHL/PBE. The Weeks must match with the timeframe of this UW, which would mean SHL's PT #2, SMJHL PT #3, and PBE's PT 26-2.
