I just arrived in New York so I might be slightly off when I do this point task. But, in my days in the ISFL during New York's existence, I'd have to say that Austin edges Arizona as their biggest rival. New York beat Austin in week 16 of S25 to force an infamous 5-way tie that pushed Austin out of a playoff spot(after being a 2-3 seed all season) and vaulted the Silverbacks to the top seed. The events might have been the final catalyst that spearheaded Colt Mendoza being traded from Austin to New York that summer.
However, Austin would return the favor in season 28 as they beat New York on the road en route to an Ultimus 28 appearance. The other factor that intensifies the rivalry is that both war rooms have heavy influence from Dallas and Tijuana, so a lot of the competitiveness stems back to the DSFL days. Myself, joining the Silverbacks after 5 seasons in Austin has little affect on this brewing bad blood.
If we were to have a heart-wrenching defeat in OT, I could see several voices stepping in to speak their part. Bob Roberts will definitely lift everyone's spirits up but also get us fired up with some rah-rah about the sim being the sim. Jack Banks would share a similar sentiment, but in a more "spirited" and uncouth tone. Captain Rogers would be the one to be the calming, soothing voice to prevent the riots. Colt Mendoza, if not dying from a heart attack thanks to Howitzer's interceptions, will succinctly explain how the sim rigged his strats and make us feel like we were always the better team, full stop.
Myself, I'd be the one to shoulder the blame so no one else feels like they really let the team down on underperformed. Lawrence Miller will be the one to make light of the situation while Mac Griddle will feed everyone McGriddles as comfort food. And of course, Keik'io will pop up randomly and ask, "What week of the season we are in?"
