Name explanation:

Bartok: Comes from Bela Bartok, the Hungarian composer whose most famous opera is "Bluebeard's Castle". He was also incredibly influential in the development of the Hungarian national identity. The reason I was thinking about this was because I'd recently been researching the band Gogol Bordello and found out that one of their original name ideas was "Hutz and the Bela Bartoks", but the lead singer was quoted as saying "Nobody knows who the hell Bela Bartok is in the United States".

Kawai: From the name Bela Bartok, the first name could be read as the Italian word for "beautiful". So, I wanted to use a word with a similar meaning that could be used as a name as well. Since I'm a weeb, I landed on "Kawai". The actual word is "Kawaii", meaning cute; but the character that I used as the excuse for this name was Rika Kawai from Wonder Egg Priority. In that, it was a last name, but I figured I could try to make it make sense. Her name is Kawai because she's so cute!

Kanbaru: I wanted to make sure that the name made sense. I didn't want to mix an extremely Japanese name with an extremely Eastern European one without reason. So, the only real character-building I had for the character was that her mom is Japanese and her dad is Polish-Hungarian. The correct order in terms of naming convention would actually mean that her name would be "Kawai Bartok Kanbaru", but that's on me that I fucked up. But, it seems like people are treating this like it's her middle name when it's actually just her name. I think my original idea was hyphenating the name, but that just didn't happen I guess. Anyway, the name Kanbaru comes from my favorite character from the Monogatari series: Suruga Kanbaru. I've recently finally decided on a render for her because I just decided to stick with who I got the name from. Although, while she's with the Grey Ducks, she will be Oozora Subaru.
