Im not sure blaming the game mode for the direction you spun is right. Spins, and any other moves, are all dictated by the direction you are pushing on the stick. Maybe you have the moves set to auto, or assist in the settings? I haven't had any issue with my corners covering, or backpedaling in any way, but if you have ball hawk off and changed to the player he would stop moving since you are then controlling him and without ball hawk he wouldn't move towards the ball for you.

I don't mean that I spun in the wrong direction. I didn't press spin at all. And I didn't change to the player. I'd been assigned to him pre snap and didn't see because he was off screen.
