For Eric Kennedy, this off-season was a crowded one, but also very productive. First off, of course, he had to make the return trip home. After being thousands of miles away from his hometown, Kennedy had to return to New Orleans and experience all of the things he missed: the nightlife, the food, the family and friends he’d left behind. But it wasn’t all fun and games. Kennedy has big plans for this next season and so he returned to Yellowknife early, so that he could join the rookies in preparing for the season. He worked hard last year to become a solid fullback, making drastic improvements in blocking ability. However, those that know Kennedy know that the position is not his end goal. Placed behind former league MVP Bubba Nuck, Kennedy has vowed to master his fullback duties and find a way to be a bigger part of the offense. With that in mind, he has not only continued to greatly improve his blocking, but he has also put in a lot of work in the passing game. Latest reports from camp indicate that Kennedy has made major strides in pass catching and that, after catching 19 passes last season, his workload is expected to increase heavily this season. He expects to continue to make improvements as a running back across the board, but for now, his focus on blocking and catching has dominated his off-season training.
