Out of the Otters S1 draft only 2 of the defensive players we drafted are still playing today, one is our GM and one is our previous co-GM who I am afraid may be going inactive as well.
With the DSFL now, player retention and activity is going to be driven by the DSFL GMs. They will be the ones to get the players up to speed and immersed in the game. Speaking from experience, had I not been claimed off waivers during my pre-rookie season, there is no way I would have stayed around for 4+ weeks waiting on the draft. We can't prevent real life, but hopefully we can filter out some of the controllable reasons why players go inactive.
Completely separate suggestion: We have a rookie mentor team but maybe we should have pre-player creation team that can share experience, player suggestions, and realistic expectations so our new members can make wise and educated decisions and reduce re-rolls.
