What plot holes did it fix? 2 meter wide vent?

The problem with the movie for me like I said before was too much stuff crammed into a finite amount of time and there was no flow and poor character development

Ummm... why would the Empire leave a weakness so fucking obvious on their flawless killing machine? I mean, the rebels could spot it almost instantly after getting the plans. It made no sense.

And I agree with little to no character development. I'm not saying it's the best movie ever made, I'm just saying it served its purpose.
