Having won four Ultimus trophies in his career, Thorian Skarsgard knows a little something about what happens after winning a championship. Skarsgard and his Otters teammates never really had a set plan for celebrations, like all showing up at Disneyland together. Imagine how intimidating that must be for hundreds of little kids, waiting in line to go on the Winnie the Pooh ride, and having fifty three hundred pound men in front of them. Now, that's not to say that they never celebrated the accomplishment of winning the NSFL championship as a team. Every time they took home the Ultimus trophy they would gather at one of the player's homes with their families for a more personal get together. After the championship in season thirteen, they came to Skarsgard's home, as hosting the party has often fallen to one of the team's rookies. It was the talk of the party when Carlito Crush and Gus T.T. Showbiz jumped into the pool from the second story window. Frankly, it's a much better time than standing in line out in the sun while a bunch of screaming kids run in circles. At least that's how the guys on the Orange County Otters always felt about it. Those were some great times.

The first thing that comes to mind for Ultimus champions is the tradition of going to Disney World. There are many rides that the players would find entertaining, starting with Space Mountain. While this might scare some of the younger players, most should find the space theme enjoyable enough, as the low lights make the somewhat mundane ride seem more thrilling as it's hard to see when the turns and drops are coming.

The water rides like Splash Mountain would be a fun activity for the team as well. Each log can hold quite a few players, and the pictures taken mid drop should serve as decent souvenirs for the locker room or stadium. As the Ultimus is played in the winter, this might prove chilly for some of the players.

The park also provided lots of places to eat for the team, although space might be at a premium to get the whole group together during the meal rush times. Might be better to grab the meals to go and find a place outside to sit and eat as a team.

Whatever teams decide to do post Ultimus, Disney is one of the more family friendly and traditional options to take the team.

I am a mere rookie when it comes to the NSFL but I have heard the stories of the epic celebrations that the Ultimus winners take part in. These stories began when I was a small child and my dad would tell them to me before bed. He spoke of week long all you can eat meat buffets, unicorn races through jungles and even deep see snorkeling. Yes these were quite the tales I heard growing up. At the time I didn't bother to wonder how long those snorkels must have been to get the diver deep into the sea abyss. I was too busy thinking about holding that trophy up myself. I knew I wanted to play football and be a Champion.

As I grew older I started to learn about what the Ultimus champions actually did to celebrate. Yeah, sure, they went to Disney and celebrated with their fans in a big parade, but there was more. There was something the majority of people did not know about. I was fortunate to witness this for myself.

I was 19 years old and attending the University of Minnesota. I had been up all night trying to get a research paper complete when I heard a loud bang followed by a soft hiss. The lights flickered and my eyes were drawn to a person in the corner of my room that seemed to appear out of nowhere.

It was me.

From the future.

I had a severe breakdown initially, coming face to face with my handsome self. It was like looking into a mirror except my reflection looked older, bigger, stronger. Once I calmed down, I had a conversation with myself. He told me that Ultimus champions have the ability to go back in time to one spot. They celebrate their win by ensuring that they do in fact win. He was there to make sure I did not give up on my path to becoming an NSFL star. I couldn't believe it. Not only did I know time travel existed but I also had confirmation that I was going to win the Ultimus one day. He and I celebrated over a beer and some hot wings at a local bar before he had to return. I got buffalo wings and he got buffalo wings; our favorite.

Before he left, he expressed the importance of me going back to visit myself after I win the Ultimus. The cycle must be complete he said, just as he was visited by an older version of us when he was 19.

The cycle must be complete, he said. The Ultimus Championship must be complete.

That is how Ultimus champions celebrate.

Well I have never won an Ultimus, so I will instead explain what I would like to do if I were to win one. If the Copperheads win the Ultimus, I will spend a minimum of 48 hours straight getting drunk in a local Austin bar. I’d buy a couple rounds for the other patrons and then get absolutely blackout drunk. When I come to, I would do it all over again. After my shenanigans in the bar, I would like to be paraded through the streets with my fellow teammates in a parade dedicated to all of our hard work and dedication. We bring a lot of great exposure and culture to Austin, and seeing people come from cities around world to celebrate with us would be awesome. Then, maybe we take a trip to Disney World just like the chiefs. I’ve only been once when I was a kid, and I feel like I could appreciate it a lot more now that I’m older. I’d like to ride all the rides I missed out on and see all of the new additions to the park since the last time I visited. I really hope to win an Ultimus with this team. It’s a great group of awesome people!

Tyler Oles JR has experienced firsthand just what Ultimus champions do to celebrate. Having been born into the Oles family, watching his dad and uncle win Ultimus Championships in their careers. He was there when his father, Tyler Oles, brought Philadelphia their first Ultimus victory after stunning both the Yellowknife Wraiths and the Orange County Otters, and he got to hold that trophy as his father was on top of the league after his victory. Seeing the celebration as his father won the Ultimus, even getting to ride his father’s shoulders as he celebrated on the field gave JR a firsthand experience as to just what the players do and how they react. Tyler Oles JR saw his father both lose and win an Ultimus, being on both sides with the agony of defeat and the excitement of victory. Watching his father pull out the cigar, watching the teammates hug each other and the Gatorade bath as the time winds down is something JR will never forget. Many teams celebrate the same way, Gatorade baths became a tradition in the NFL, and the NSFL quickly adopted it, mainly because NSFL coaches absorb the Gatorade from each bath, needing it to survive to the next season. Each team has different traditions and each player reacts a different way, but the once in a lifetime experience Tyler Oles JR got to have with his dad is a celebration and a situation he will always remember. Is it even really possible to win the Ultimus? Is that legal?

Well I guess someone has to win in the playoffs each year, even though it’s never been me. I suppose they go to Disney World, big celebrations, zip a dee fucking doo dah. My good friend Franklin Armstrong says it’s no big deal, which of course he said while on his fifteenth consecutive pleasure cruise. I imagine it’s pretty fun nonetheless. You get to go to Disney, be adored in your hometown, drink lots of alcohol in the mandatory parade, the whole shebang. The team hangs up one of those festive banners in the stadium, further immortalizing your achievement for the rest of all time. The offseason starts off with a bang instead of a whimper - you go into the new year with an energy and a zeal that only comes from the knowledge that you spent Ultimus night on the field with confetti raining all around you instead of sitting on your couch, sobbing into your pillow and stuffing your face with cheap snacks. Of course, I’m a lot more familiar with the latter experience. But I’m sure it’s something special to hoist that trophy high and go to Disney World.
