So, last April Fool's Day, I also pulled a retirement prank. Prior to doing so, I actually read the rulebook. There's actually a whole section on retirement. It's easy to find. It literally took 2 minutes. Those 2 minutes were enough to convince me that posting joke retirements in the retirement thread was a bad idea. So, I posted media hyping up a retirement instead... and didn't get penalized. I also made a nice chunk of money off the articles I posted.

If someone can't be bothered to put the minimum amount of effort into something, I'm not going to feel bad for them if it backfires.

100% agree. Idk if the rule is there for a reason or if the penalty is too harsh, but I have a very hard time sympathizing with YTB on this one. He broke the rule and it should change permanently if he's only getting a partial punishment.

tbh I actually would increase the penalty on anyone who retires without the intention of actually retiring at any point
