Dermot Lavelle may be a S2 player, but he has already proven to be one of the top corners in the game today. He joined the Yellowknife Wraiths shortly after the draft and has been starting at corner axorss from Dirk Cutter ever since. Lavelle has shown that he can handle any receiver he lines up against and he is no slouch at stopping the run. So far this season Dermot Lavelle has 53 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 13 passes defended. He also has a forced fumble and a recovered fumble on his resume for this season. Going up against Josh Garden and Alexandre LeClair every day in practice with a great quarterback in Chris Orosz trying to throw darts all over the practice field can be tough but Dermot Lavelle has not flinched even once. He shows up every day and competes like it's his first practice. It's evident that Lavelle will go very high in the S1 draft and whichever team he ends up on will be getting an excellent player and teammate. It should be well known that the Wraiths want him back badly, and he wants to come back, but it will be hard to see him sliding far enough in the draft to be able to land back on the Wraiths team.

Right Place At The Right Time?

Aspiring NSFL Linebacker Noah Parker is coming into the scene hoping to be the last piece of the puzzle for a team this coming season. Linebackers are often painted as tenacious tackle machines, cleaning up behind their defensive lines any ball carrier foolish enough to approach the line of scrimmage. The current top 5 Linebackers in the league have over 500 tackles between them at the Week 12 mark, while only sharing a single interception. Parker is hoping to make his mark in both categories.

The Australian isn’t unfamiliar with being an oddity. Parker is without any college football experience, and is a foreign player attempting to break into an American dominated sport, and yet he’s catching the attention of many defensive coaches. He’s quicker than his 6’3” 230 lb frame would allude to but it’s his football IQ that stands out more than any measurable stat. He’s yet to feature in a S2 Prospects game, so only time will tell whether or not that kiwi intelligence translates onto the gridiron. Parker will need to prove to coaches and GMs that his reluctance to change positions is justified - that a ball hawking/smashmouth hybrid is just what a team needs in this pass happy league. And most importantly, that he’s the man to fill the need.

Dermot Lavelle has been lights out for the Wraiths. One of the things that Yellowknife was questionable about heading into the Inaugural NSFL season was it's secondary. Starting the draft, the Wraiths came out with drafting Dirk Cutter with the first pick. Besides Cutter, it's been very underwhelming from the secondary side.

The Ireland native showed that he is the CLEAR #1 Man to Man CB coming into the S2 draft. Hell, who am I kidding? #1 CB in the S2 Draft, period. Currently listed as the third CB in passes defensed (13), tied for third in the NSFL in interceptions (3), and ranking third out of the CBs in tackles (53), he's proven that his ceiling is sky high. Where will he play come season 2, I'm not sure, but I'll continue to recognize and admire greatness while he's a teammate of mine right now.

It's also a good thing to note that he is the first waiver wire pickup for the Wraiths and the first one to be claimed by any team in NSFL history. Some would say that he paved the way for the rest of the waiver wire squad. He's held himself accountable, great skills on the football field, wonderful presence throughout the league, and one of my personal favorite additions to the locker room. Gregor Clegane is one of the most anticipated players entering the season two draft. Nobody is quite sure where he came from, as his college and birthplace don't seem to exist on maps, he doesn't have a birth certificate, and speaks of his past in strange metaphors. But one thing we can be sure of, his raw size and strength makes this monster of a man one of the most difficult to line up against. He has generated 35 pancakes this season while facing some of the biggest and toughest defensive tackles to ever play the game. His only downside appears to be his role in pass protection as he has given up 7 sacks on the season while playing at left guard. Some analysts are predicting that this could hut his draft stock come the season 2 draft, but Clegane doesn't seem to care. In fact, when questioned about the season 2 draft he seems to indicate that he might not even consider playing at all if he doesn't like who he gets drafted by. But one word of caution to any of Clegane's future teammates, stay very far away from him in the weight room. Very far away.

It's a little hard to ignore when a LB racks up 14 tackles with 2 pass deflections in just two games. So it's surprising that very little hype surrounds Jupiter Oaks. Given the way he produced in the prospect games, all Oaks has to do is stay active to gain a high draft spot.

Linebackers are in rising demand across the NSFL. The position is inherently invaluable, as LBs rush the passer, stuff the run, and cover receivers. In fact, many consider LB to be the star position of the defense.With two new teams adding a need for at least 8 additional linebackers, Oaks has lots of promise. He's delivered the goods as well during two prospect games and performed solidly in a couple of regular season games with the San Jose SaberCats.

As a coverage LB, Oaks will not put up gaudy sack totals, but he doesn't need to. Talented inside linebackers are a formidable force on the defense. They clog up passing lanes and seal running gaps alike. In the NSFL, where QBs sling the ball all over the field, Jupiter Oaks can fill those shoes very well. His attributes are amazing for a player with 50 TPE. Oaks boasts 70 speed, 60 tackling, 65 agility,
and 65 endurance.

Oaks is likely to occupy a high draft spot next year. There is no team in the league which doesn't want an ILB as talented as Oaks. All @vledoc needs to do to earn his player a fat contract is stay active and practice.

Vincent Sharpei, tackle, Baltimore Hawks, has proven himself to be one of the best prospects of the season 2 draft. Signed shortly after the conclusion of the S1 draft, Sharpei has made an impact as a starter on the offensive line for the Baltimore Hawks. His 30 pancakes on the year place him at 15th, showing he already is good enough to be a solid starter as one of the youngest players in the league. In addition, he's only allowed 5 sacks, showing he can both dominate defensive lineman by putting them on their back and by keeping them away from the quarterback. Vincent's young age will allow him to grow even more as a rookie next season by taking advantage of rookie camp, which is known to be very beneficial for young stars. Vincent appears to be the top lineman going into the season 2 draft, and should be taken in the first two rounds. Vincent would be a great pickup for either an expansion team or an existing one; His tenure with the Baltimore Hawks thus far have shown he will be able to start wherever he goes.

Scott Timlin is aiming to become one of the best centers in the league. Compared to a lot of the prospects coming in on the offensive line he has a lot to prove. Timlin hails from the United Kingdom, which puts him a bit behind some of the other lineman in this draft class in terms of development. His technique and skills aren't quite as refined as a guy like Gregor Clegane, though he is much cleaner off of the field.

Timlin was able to walk on at Ohio State and saw meaningful playing time in the college football playoffs. However, in many of his college contests he relied heavily on his physical gifts rather than technical talents. Timlin is big and athletic, in what is classically considered a “high-upside” type player, because if Timlin continues to work as he has in his short football career when he goes pro, he'll be a premier player in the league.

Fortunately, Timlin has an excellent motor and intellect. He works as hard as any guy in the weight room and in the film room. He is a student of the game despite being relatively new to it, all important attributes for a center in the NSFL. As the season winds down and season 2 begins, we're excited to see how Timlin progresses.
