Brick Van Sanzo loves to volunteer. Since his first job, the first paycheck he ever received he immediately started donating to charity. One charity in particular touches his heart and that charity is second harvest heartland. Second harvest heartland provides meals for those who are in need in the midwest and namely Minnesota, which is Bricks homestate.
Brick Gladly volunteers to help bring meals to the elderly and help packing meals for children in need. This can include work in the soup kitchen serving up food or even working a school lunch room to provide meals to children who can't afford to get school lunch. Brick always talks about second harvest constantly to his teammates because Brick hasn't met a single person that after a few minutes of talking about second havest becomes a lifetime donor / volunteer.
When Brick isn't able to volunteer in person Brick always makes a donation after receiving contract payouts or a paycheck. Its said that 30 dollars provide 90 meals for people in need. So at this point Brick has donated about 3,000,000 meals or more. Brick loves to know that kids don't have to go hungry because he can play a game so well that he is paid like he is. He just hopes he can spread the love and get as many guys in the league as he can to do the same too.
After being drafted to the Butchers, living in Chicago and coming from the ducks in Minnesota I have amassed quite a fortune during my tenure. I’m not the most famous player, and might not even be recognizable to anybody outside of Chicago or Minnesota, or my Hometown in California. But that won’t stop me from helping these communities. One of the biggest issues I see is young Kids getting into trouble because they don’t have a positive role model. That won’t fly with me. That’s why I created the Blackfyre Football Festival. I had a state of the art training facility built in Chicago. I spared no expense. With a full Kitchen, living quarters, event hall, and of course the actual training facility. All domed and indoors to escape the harsh conditions of the Windy City. We bring in up to 200 or more at risk kids from around Chicago as well as bus them over from the home of the Grey Ducks. With position coaches and every piece of equipment you can imagine we run a month long football camp. All amenities included, and completely free for these kids. They can stay out of trouble, make friends, and we even bring in kids from the orphanages to have some fun and learn about football. For many of these kids this gets them off the streets and a warm meal into their bellies. Another aspect I’ve focus on is the homeless. We hire those who unfortunately found themselves on the streets and needing some help. They work as cooks, janitors, and even rotate in helping as coaches to learn about football themselves. At the end we have a big tournament for all the assigned teams with all the kids playing and the homeless as the coaches. This is followed by a concert to end the camp. We’ve had a few big names come and play, and a few kids leave here with actual ideas to join the DSFL. We have aspirations to make this a year long event that will act as a real home for some of these kids and people. Donations have flooded in so I no longer pay out of pocket. The Blackfyre football Festival will become a household name as a nonprofit for at risk youth who will make great friends and maybe one day hit the pros.
The question everyone wants to know: where will Honky Tonk Haywood be during the Holidays this season?
There’s plenty of speculation. Some say he’s planning to head back to Nashville and do a socially distant bar crawl all the way up and down Broadway. Others say he’s locking himself inside the Philadelphia Liberty weight room, crushing sando’s and ripping squats. Well HTH has put the question to rest today with the announcement that he will be doing charitable work this holiday season. Specifically, Haywood will be working with the local Philadelphia chapter of Kars for Kids. We’ve all heard the jingle. “1877 Kars for Kids, donate your car today!” In the spirit of giving, Honky Tonk will start by donating his 1989 Chevy Caprice to the charity. From there, he will be spending a day operating as a tow truck driver and personally greeting a few lucky Liberty fans who donate their vehicle as well. Of course he will be doing the hitching. Haywood has also posted videos to his Instagram where he is seen walking up to cars stopped at red lights and asking the drivers if they’ll be donating their car this season. Some have alleged HTH has been bullying folks into being charitable, but Haywood nor his agent have given comment on their allegations yet.
You would find me volunteering for a cause that is near and dear to my heart called Alex's Lemonade Stand. This amazing organization was founded in 2005 in order to help fight pediatric cancer. As a person that watched my nephew suffer with neuroblastoma, going out and sacrificing my time to help is the least I could do. "Alex" lost her fight in 2004 at the age of 8, and a that point had already raised 1 million to help find a cure for this horrible disease. As people, we can never understand what it must have been like for her, but we can help her resilience and passion live on in my volunteer work. I have taken part in many events through the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation, and will continue to do so until I leave this earth. Every little bit counts, and whether I watch people donate $1 or $50, the real thrill is seeing a community rally together to support a great cause. I am merely a man donating time, as these amazing children are battling a vicious cancer while their families try to stay strong. This is about everyone doing their part, and do yourself a favor, get out there and join the cause. Alex needs us. Be more than you think you are capable of, because you are stronger than you think, and every little bit you do helps the greater good.
While it's unlikely that a team called the Outlaws based in Arizona would do a bunch of community outreach, at least, not through community service, especially considering Passman apparently is a literal criminal, Darren Pama is more socially minded. He would reach out to Arizona's most steadfast and consistent group in order to get support, both for his team and his favored cause of feeding people in need: Old retirees. By doing a bunch of ads targeted specifically to take advantage of the older crowd, he'd work with local restaurants and food chains to get food to the poor and downtrodden by playing on the heartstrings of people who have not been targeted very directly. Darren Pama would use his own past as a lower class walk on in order to gain sympathy, and would be "caught" putting his body where his mouth and money were by working at soup kitchens and getting food to the needy. There is a bit of self-serving motivation for all the good he'd be doing, though: He'd also do this to create a platform for him to run for office in Arizona as a decent person who actually wanted to create positive change for the country, people who are in all too short supply in office at all times.
Logan has tried to become a big part of the community, not only in London, but in all the United Kingdom. After management approached the team to ask players they try to spread some joy around town after what was considered a shitty year (shitty non-football year). Logan has decided he would make his way to The Royal London Hospital and spend some times with kids there. He had been planning this for a bit so made sure to try and communicate with staff at the hospital to get a list of gifts for each child there and proceeded to buy each one of them a gift from their lists. Needless to say, the children cared less about the gift and more that their local superstar football player took time out of his day to come say hi, hang out and play some games with them. Media tried to get access to the hospital for photos once they caught wind of what he was doing, but Sarrasin didn't want this to be mistaken for a publicity stunt and requested that media not be allowed in if they planned on making a spectacle and they were also instructed they were not to bother him while he spent time with the children. He hired a local photographer to take plenty of pictures for the families of the children. It was an amazing day for everyone involved.
Zee is a big believer giving back to the community. After all, if it weren’t for the fans, none of this football thing would even be possible. Zee’s favorite way to give back is by visiting the Children’s hospital and hanging out with the kids, especially at Christmas. Zee really got into helping out there after his nephew was diagnosed with leukemia. Many of the kids are huge football fans, but even if they aren’t simply sitting down and talking with them about anything from their favorite foods (burgers!) to which superhero is the best (Batman, obviously!) makes their day. At Christmas time, Zee goes all out and usually recruits some of his teammates to deliver presents and holiday cheer to the kids at the hospital and their families. Offensive linemen make the best Santa’s! Seeing the looks on the kid’s faces and their happiness to get some cool Christmas gifts is a gift unto itself. Plus, Zee is a huge kid at heart and getting to ‘help’ the kids play with their new toys is a blast. Zee makes sure to remember presents for the rest of their families as well. Last, but certainly not least, Zee has dinner delivered for the hospital staff on Christmas day, because it's the least he can do for the folks taking care of the kids there.
