One of the strangest story-lines of the Season 2 NSFL draft was one that actually only came to light in its entirety after the conclusion of the draft. I am of course, talking about the one and only Torque "(Construction noise)" Lewith out of Nevada State Penitentiary. Lewith, a quarterback, was a late addition to the season 2 draft class, only participating in the fifth and final prospect showcase game, where he posted a very unimpressive stat line. However, several GMs around the league took notice of Lewith's raw athleticism when he ran a 4.3 40 yard dash at the combine. Lewith was then contacted by several GMs, (Lewith refuses to give us a definitive number but assures us that it was at least three), who were inquiring about his stance on a position change. Lewith respectfully told the general managers that he prefers to stay at quarterback, and couldn't really see himself changing positions. But this was the normal part of the story. Lewith's draft stock plummeted when it became clear that he wouldn't want to change positions, after all, when has a QB controversy ever helped team chemistry. The Yeti took a gamble on Lewith in one of the later rounds of the draft, and within a few days, Lewith released a statement saying that he would be moving to safety.

Which left GMs and players around the league asking a single question: Why all of the misdirection?

The drama about the media

In just a season and a half there has been a lot of different drama about the media and articles. While things worked at first, soon different pay-outs were considered and offered by the league for various article lengths.

We have seen even more drama in season two though. First off, the league is producing massive amounts of media, causing the market to be saturated. Many pieces are laying there for weeks unread or ungraded. Many writers are not paid properly or not paid until weeks later. That caused two rule changes very early in season two that were to change the way media was graded and to deal with the massive backlog, but neither of them really changed much. The backlog is still around and lots of players are growing impatient and frustrated.

Once the backlog is fixed, the league can hope to finally put behind the drama of the media, but until then, it will be a stressful time for everyone involved. The league also hired more graders to deal with the backlog but there are still concerns out there.

Additionally, some have questioned the pay-out structure, with bonuses skewing the worth of articles, as well as statistical analysis maybe not being properly paid out in comparison with how much work needs to be done with it.

Media has been a wonderful thing and many great articles have been published. It just needs a proper solution and once the backlog is fixed, the drama will all go away.

I can't say I'm active on boards, but I do know at least one contoversy that happened and still happens in the Sabercats team. After a starting QB at that time Jameis Christ went inactive, the team needed to search for more active guy who can replace him. The management found Ethan Hunt and it actually helped the team as we went 3-3 with. The thing was he expressed his displeasure with the Sabercats and he said he wants out. The management has decided to not let him go before his contract expires and even though Ethan didn't make a huge shitstorm from it, he is still unsatisfied with this team. I don't know the details of this, but I assume he just isn't interested to play for a bottom team, at least in last season when SJ indeed was a bottom dweller. Right now the Sabercats are 3-1 and leading their conference along with the Outlaws. Despite of this, he still doesn't changes his mind and he very likely will leave San Jose after this season is finished. Also, Ethan has some disputes with Dan Miller and Christian Adams, the back up QB as the latter two aren't happy with Hunt's attitude. So there's a little doubt that Ethan ''da_benchwarmer'' Hunt is interested to join another NSFL team.

In my personal opinion, although Hunt is the lesser of the three with the least amount of TPE invested, his simming abilities + results easily make him the most prized of the three quarterbacks involved in "The Controversy". Would he have seen the same amount of success if Orange County had kept him? Maybe. Who knows.

A big event in the league, while not quite a controversy was the divergent path of the Legion and the Liberty in their team building. The Legion decided to essentially pass on the entire S2 draft and trade their picks for established players, while the Liberty decided to go the traditional team building route and build through the draft.

Thus far it is fair to say that neither approach has been immediately successful. The teams are a combined 1-7 with the only win being a home over time victory for Las Vegas over the Baltimore Hawks. At first glance it may seem that the Legion are in better shape given their better point differential and better record, however it is clear that their approach was flawed at best. Going all out for players with experience means that their team is now all going to be free agents a year earlier and they are going to have less time to build up. Furthermore players in their first year improve more than they do in their second year.

The controversial build style of Las Vegas clearly did not work out immediately. The team is 1-3 with all four of their games coming at home. And Philly, while having a rough season, seems to be in great shape to have a better future than Las Vegas.

Ethan Hunt gets traded to the Sabercats during the middle of season 1. He was not starting for his previous team so this was his shot to start and prove everyone wrong. As soon as he started for the Sabercats, he began saying that he had no interest playing with this team and wanted to leave and continue playing some where else.

This stirred up many press conferences with him and the San Jose staff. He talked to ESPN and other sources meanwhile the Sabercats put out a formal address saying the following. "We traded a great defensive player for him in Bert Metas and we still have him for the next two years. We will not trade him for nothing or let him go. We will not lose value on that trade."

So he has been the starting quarterback since. Some players have continued giving him a hard time, specifically Dan Miller. However this year things have been going really well. The Sabercats are 3-1 and that one loss was really close. It's obvious that they are doing something right.

Ethan Hunt has recently released another interview with the press and talked about how his old agent thought that he was only in San Jose for 1 year. It seems that he has enjoyed starting behind San Jose's offensive line and throwing to some great receivers.

Bercovici was involved in a lot of offseason drama - from a record breaking contract with the Legion, to being on the Legion in the first place with accusations of illegal tampering, it was quite an off-season. From my perspective Bercovici did both his former and current team slightly dirty, but none of that will matter for the Legion if Bercovici ends up taking the Legion to the promised land eventually.

Bercovici initially started out saying that he was better than Mike Boss of the Otters and was releasing statements to the media mentioning that he should be the starting quarterback rather than riding the bench behind Boss. This caused some strife in the locker room between his coach and the management of the Otters. Then Bercovici was rumored to be talking to the Legion before the legal tampering time started, though league officials were unable to prove that this was the case.

Eventually Bercovici ended up with the Legion, where he signed the biggest contract the league has ever seen, potentially hampering the development of his own team for years to come. It is hard to place blame on Bercovici for this because it ultimately comes down to what management thinks their potential franchise QB is worth, since every player besides Tom Brady, who will never meet his wife's net worth of $300,000,000, should be interested in making enough money for generations to come.

Much of the drama surrounding Bercovici has subsided, though the Legion will be continually questioned on their decisions that got them there if they don't end up pulling a winning record this season.
