I think this year‘s NSFL playoffs could turn out to be really interesting. The Yellowknife Wraiths look like the favorites right now to win the title with their current 10-2 record and some impressive wins along the way, including their current win streak of four games and being equally good at home and on the road. At the same time it‘s the Wraiths and they have a history of making it to the Ultimus game and not winning it. However I think this year might finally be their time to get their hands on the trophy.
The other two teams who look like they have a legitimate shot in my humble opinion are the Orange County Otters and the Austin Copperheads. The OCO are a great team that seems to be competitive year after year. What bothers me is their current losing streak, two losses in a row is surprising when you‘re leading the ASFC. But I guess that only shows their dominance in the beginning of the season. Anyway, I think they need to turn things around in the coming weeks if they don‘t want to risk their playoff spot.
On the other side of the spectrum are the Austin Copperheads who have now won an impressive six games in a row. When you‘re on a roll like that it really boosts morale and usually helps teams make deep playoff runs.
As for me, I‘ll be watching the games from the comfort of my couch. I still believe the Hahalua played a good season so far and we‘ve upset some teams that didn't expect us to be that strong. So I hope we can make that playoff push next year.
I like this one cause I can see Yellowknife taking the overall #1. It feels really great to be able to make a good team better and understand how beneficial OL players are.
I do not see the Otters losing that other division and sadly think San Jose will lose and drop to 4th but I am for a fairy tale run to the finals for them. Would come full circle for me.
I personally see Sarasota winning against the Chicago Butchers and then with YKW beating Philly they would steal 3rd. I could easily see them then beating the shitty 2nd team in the play-offs albeit probably huge underdogs for it. Perhaps that is too many games needing to win in a row for an expansion team but making play-offs could easily happen for them.
The big game is Austin's game and I am not really 100% sure which is the home team but I will be picking them to win it all considering Home Field Advantage is a huge factor thing in this league. I think it will be interesting to then see how the cards fall but I actually am confident that what I have predicted will happen barring a major upset from a team.
All I know is YKW look to be the favourite and that is all I care about.
The best team in the DSFL right now are the Tijuana Luchadores in my opinion. But it is not that clear this season. The other teams are not far behind them. This year the league is very competitive as you cannot really see any clear favourite in any game. Behind them I still see the Buccs. They started strong, but lost their momentum along the way. Despite that they still have the chance to advance to the playoffs.
In the NFC the Grey ducks have are 2 wins ahead of the rest, all three teams behind them sit at 4-6. My hopes are that the Pythons get their act together and finish strong to get to the playoffs. The next 2 games are really important as these are against the direct rivals for a playoff spot.
In the playoffs I think that in the SFC Tijuana will come out victorious, they are too consistent this year and with the home field advantage, this will be enough to beat the other team, which will be the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers.
In the NFC my pick for the championship game will be Minnesota against the Pythons. The Grey Ducks will win the NFC. In the Ultimini the Luchadores are going to clearly beat the Grey Ducks.
Written Option: In 200 words, look ahead towards the postseason, either NSFL or DSFL. Who do you see coming out on top? What dark horse teams do you think can make a run? Will your player be a vital part of your team’s championship, or will you be sobbing on the couch at home? Give your best predictions here.
Well unfortunately, it seems as though the Outlaws wont be making the playoffs this season, but that was expected in a way. Playoff positions arent dont yet which is going to be fun to see how everything plays out with the Sabrecats, Austin and NOLA all being close in wins in the ASFC and then the NSFC with the Liberty and the Sailfish fighting for that last spot.
If the SecondLine can make it in the playoffs, I think they will be able to make it all the way to the finals. They have already beat Sabrecats twice in the season, both home and away. They have had a toughr time against the Otters but its just one game and anything can happen when it is just one game. The one person on the New Orleans team that will run wild, literally, in the playoffs in my opinion will be Forrest Gump. Does not really seem like a wild guess since he does have over 1000 tpe but he has scored a touchdown in each game against the Sabrecats and added over 150 yards in each game. The Otters have done a good job at containing him in the regular season but he will be a dangerous weapon when it comes playoff time and he is coming off a hot game against San Jose. In the groove, Gump will be able to break free whether he is running or catching the ball and help his team atleast score a touchdown. The Secondline has also beat the Wraiths in the regular season in a close matchup 21-19 and it even was in Yellowknife. The game was close and Gump did not have a great game at all, totalling 58 yards and 0 touchdowns. If Gump can become effective in the post season, he has favorable matchups that will make the path to another championship much easier for the New Orleans SecondLine and give them a repeat championship
As usual, the NSFL Ultimus winner will come out of the ASFC. Even if you do not look into past seasons, there is no way to miss the fact that the strongest teams are in that conference. Remember the New Orleans Secondline, the Ultimus champion last season? They have a great team for sure, not a chance in denying that. Their place? 4th in the conference with a 7 - 5 record, out of the playoffs with 1 game to go, so a must win game for them in Week 13 to scrape in. Now look at the NSFC. Do not even look at the fact that the same record that gives you 4th place in the ASFC nets you a 2nd place in the NSFC. Get past that. But there is an expansion team in the playoff hunt. No disrespect to the Sarasota Sailfish, but if a team comes into the league, with all the challenges that entails and immediately gets into the playoffs, something needs to change in their conference. Besides, we all know that the Wraiths will make it to the Ultimus and lose, so the team that wins the ASFC championship game should automatically get the Ultimus. My bet this year goes to the Orange County Otters.
The postseason is almost here. My NSFL team isn’t going to make it this year, but I’m still in the DSFL on a promising team in the Minnesota Grey Ducks. Nobody thought that we had much of a chance in the preseason besides ourselves. We’ve taken down some tough opponents and currently sit at the top of our going into weeks 11 and 12 tonight. I think we definitely have a chance at coming out on top. It won’t be easy. We don’t have the most TPE, so we’ll need a bit of luck, but we have some of the best strategists in the league, in my opinion. Everybody is helping each other out, trying to be the best they can be. It’s really fun to see us all coming together the way that we are. As for Tyron Shields, he’s hoping that he can make an impact in the playoffs. He won’t be sobbing on the couch at home, even if his snap count isn’t high. As a member of the best defensive back group in the DSFL, snaps aren’t easy to come by. Shields and Ray-Ray Jackson have been duking it out for the second starting CB spot, while the other mans the nickel role. Whether he plays a vital role or not, Tyron Shields only has one thing on his mind: the Ultimini.
