[div align=\\\"center\\\"]S12 NSFL Awards Candidates
End of Regular Season Summary[/div]
This season was very eventful for many reasons, we saw a definite swing of power in the ASFC, which will see a different champion and Conference Finals matchup for the first time since Season 7 with San Jose Sabercats making their second postseason appearance. In the NSFC Yeti fallen short of playoffs for the first time since S8, making way for Liberty, that is finally back for the first time since their Ultimus winning Season 7.
Not only that but it was last season we saw players from S1 Draft still playing ( dermot doesn't count) as both legends
Turk Turkleton and
Angus Winchester retired from professional football. Thankfully they have worthy successors as S12 Draft is nothing but amazing so far.
Speaking of rookies let's take a look at what they brought to the league already, and who is likely to take away the precious Rookie of The Year Awards.
Defensive Rookie of the Year Award
We had astonishing 19, just like in S11 candidates this season! It was probably one of the most competitive years for this award, with plenty of players in quite high TPE levels.
(S12) Logan Lejune - LB 119 Tackles, 5 TFL, 2 INT, 5 PD, 1 TD
(S12) - Charlie Trout - LB 86 Tackles, 3 FR, 11 Sacks, 25 PD, 1 Safety
(S11) - Dan Schneider - SS 66 Tackles, 1 FR, 12 Sacks, 2 PD
(S12) Trey Staley - SS 60 Tackles, 1 FR, 6 Sacks, 2 INT, 2 PD 1 TD
(S12) Beau Montgomery - CB 59 Tackles, 4 INT, 13 PD
(S12) - Ja'brill Tuck - DE 33 Tackles, 1 FR, 6 Sacks
My Pick: Charlie Trout had an outstanding season for a linebacker and with his teammate Dan Schneider they brought wrath and chaos on opposing Quarterbacks for combined 23 Sacks. He was also amazing in the coverage with 25 deflected passes.
Offensive Rookie of the Year Award
A piece of Trivia - what was the last season that didn't feature Rookie Quarterback?
Not S11 - we had both Adriana Falconi and Joliet L. Christ.
Not S10 - we had Gus Showbiz
Not S9 - we had Kevin Fitzpatrick
Not S8 - we had Brad Pennington
Not S7 - we had Ryan Applehort
And finally, in S6 all Quarterbacks had some experience. Tough Yeti had Pierno so it was even worse. Anyway, Rookie Quarterback never won this award anyway, so let's take a look at our potential candidates:
(S12) - James Bishop - WR 1025 Rec. Yards, 69 Catches, 14.second lineD
(S11) - Thjalfi Halvorsen - WR 952 Rec. Yards, 77 Catches, 12.4 avg, 5 TD
(S11) - Sunnycursed - WR 858 Rec. Yards, 59 Catches, 14.5 avg, 4 TD
(S12) - Arbin Asipi III - RB 790 Rushing Yards, 4.4 avg, 4 Rushing TDs, 576 Rec. Yards, 61 Catches, 9.4 avg, 3 Rec. TD
(S12) - Dick Wizardry - RB 1198 Rushing Yards, 4.2 avg, 11 Rushing TDs, 287 Rec. Yards, 50 Catches, 5.7 avg
(S11) - Slim Shady - RB 1038 Rushing Yards, 4.6 avg, 4 Rushing TDs, 164 Rec. Yards, 25 Catches, 6.6 avg
(S11) - Steven Moore - TE 341 Rec. Yards, 47 Catches, 7.3 avg, 1 TD, 12 Pancakes
(S12) - Neo Donaldson - K/P 23/24 FGM, 38/40 XPM, 10/10 in 40-49 range, 1/1 50+
My Pick: This is really a tough one, as we have Top 8 receiver league Wide in Bishop and Top 3 Running Back in Dick Wizardry. Both great and inspiring results for rookie players. Seems like a perfect year for a shared award for both of them. Arizona offense looking on the upswing, if they continue their growth they have a lot of potentials there. We had kicker win this award recently in S10, but while Neo Donaldson had a better season than Beat Meoff in that year, the rest of competition wasn't nearly that good.
Positional Excellency Awards
Kicker of the Year Award
(S12) - Neo Donaldson - K/P 23/24 FGM, 38/40 XPM, 9/10 in 30-39, 10/10 in 40-49 range, 1/1 50+, 52 longest
(S11) - Kulture Fulture - K/P 19/20 FGM, 40/42 XPM, 5/6 in 40-49, 47 longest
(S5) - Peg Leg - K/P 22/25 FGM, 38/38XPM, 7/8 in 30-39, 8/9 in 40-49, 1/2 in 50+, 57 longest
My Pick: Peg Leg was perfect on XPM and kicked in the longest game winning kick, but is only one other of the above with two misses overall. Donaldson and Fulture are almost indistinguishable either. Three way tie?
Punter of the Year Award
(S11) - Kulture Fulture - K/P 16/82 Inside 20, 46 avg, 72 longest
(S6) - Forfeit - K/P 13/83 Inside 20, 46 avg, 69 longest
(S12) - Neo Donaldson - K/P 11/83 Inside 20, 46.7 avg, 69 longest
(S1) - Turk Turkleton - K/P 10/72 Inside 20, 46.9 avg, 65 longest
My Pick: Fulture with highest Inside 20% and the longest kick seems like a good choice, tough any of the four was great punter. Not that rest of the league was bad otherwise.
Returner of the Year Award
(S7) - Howard Miller - WR 1100 KR Yards, 30.6 KR Avg, 104 KR Longest, 1 KR TD
(S7) - Vladimir Fyodorovich - WR 1046 KR Yards, 24.9 KR Avg, 46 KR Lng, 150 PR yards, 6.2 PR avg, 20 PR Longest
(S9) - Vinny Valentine - WR 889 KR Yards, 27.8 avg, 101 KR Longest, 1 KR TD, 258 PR Yards, 7.2 Avg, 66 PR Longest
(S10) - Kazimir Oles - WR 835 KR Yards, 23.9 avg, 106 KR Longest, 1 KR TD, 315 PR Yards, 10.2 avg, 51 PR Longest
My Pick: Miller was an outstanding Kick Returner, but I feel like Vinny Valentines being able to do that also with Punt Returns puts him over the top here.
Offensive Lineman of the Year Award
Maybe next season?
Defensive Back of the Year Award:
/
(S4) - Blackford Oakes - FS 80 Tackles, 1 FF, 7 INT, 25 PD
/
(S5) - Andre Bly Jr. - CB 81 Tackles, 6 INT, 25 PD, 2 TD
(S11) - Dan Schneider - SS 66 Tackles, 1 FR, 12 Sacks, 2 PD
(S10) - Damien Arnold - FS 80 Tackles, 1 TFL, 2 FF, 6 INT, 13 PD, 3 TD
(S8) - William H. Harrison - FS 91 Tackles, 2 FF, 1 Sack, 5 INT, 17 PD, 1 TD
My Pick: Three players that won the award already in Oakes, Bly and Harrison and I think it's still time for the tradition to be kept that you can only win it once as Dan Schneider had a monstrous season with the second most sacks in league history, only DT Eli Kamaka had more in S6 (13). But once again, this group had an amazing season and deserve the recognition all together.
Linebacker of the Year Award
(S12) - Charlie Trout - LB 86 Tackles, 3 FR, 11 Sacks, 25 PD, 1 Safety
(S11) - Tana Keïta - LB 91 Tackles, 1 TFL, 1 FF, 2 FR, 11 Sacks, 12 PD
(S6) - Robby Rainey - LB 102 Tackles, 1 TFL, 10 Sacks, 14 PD
(S7) - Mason Brown - LB 89 Tackles, 1 TFL, 2 FF, 1 FR, 9 Sacks, 4 INT, 16 PD, 1 TD
(S6) - Brian Mills - LB 134 Tackles, 2 TFL, 4 FF, 1 FR, 2 INT, 6 PD
My Pick: Rookies winning positional awards seems to be the trend, aren't they recently. I think this might be too the big change of guard that happened and the league not being in so top heavy, I should have known better than to create in S7... Anyway back to the topic, all these linebackers are excellent in both pass pressure, coverage and run stopping, but especially Charlie Trout this season excelled in both, including gathering the rare safety. Rainey was great, Sophomore Keita with fantastic effort and Mason Brown with most interceptions in the group.
Defensive Lineman of the Year Award
(S1) - Angus Winchester - DE 48 Tackles, 3 TFL, 1 FF, 9 Sacks
(S8) - Brock Weathers III - DE 40 Tackles, 10 TFL, 1 FF, 8 Sacks
(S10) - Lo Rax - DE41 Tackles, 11 TFL, 1 FF, 6 Sacks
(S8) - Mark David - DT49 Tackles, 1 TFL, 7 Sacks
(S11) Curtis Saul - DT 25 Tackles, 2 TFL, 6 Sacks
My Pick: Not so long ago we had serious concerns about the longevity of this position, but today we can surely say it has been rejuvenated and there is new generation that is improving in great tempo. This year award seems to be between the best Defensive End for many years that passed and to come in Brock Weathers and the Swan Song season of Angus Winchester, while I have sentiment for the departing legends I feel like this should be repeated for Liberty defensive end.
Tight End of the Year Award
(S7) - Verso L'Alto - TE 835 Yards, 79 Catches, 10.6 avg, 8 TDs, 44 Pancakes, 1 Sacks allowed
(S2) - Paul DiMirio - TE 780 Yards, 93 catches, 8.4 avg, 5 TDs, 24 Pancakes, 3 Sacks allowed
(S6) - Glenn McPoyal- TE 699 Yards, 65 catches, 10.8 avg, 4 TDs, 14 Pancakes, 1 Sack allowed
My Pick: The same names once again and surely, but steadily L'Alto continues his on catching up the 7(!!!) Awards won by DiMirio. Considering he has only left one pre-regression year and there are improving TEs (including two rookies) this may be an impossible task.
Wide Receiver of the Year Award
(S7) - Vladimir Fyodorovich - WR 1637 Yards, 81 Catches, 20.2 avg, 10 TDs, 76 longest
(S9) - Vinny Valentine - WR 1325 Yards, 70 Catches, 18.9 avg, 7 TDs, 64 longest
(S7) - Howard Miller - WR 1321 Yards, 76 Catches, 17.4 avg, 11 TDs, 59 longest
(S5) - Carlito Crush - WR 1162 Yards, 66 Catches, 17.6 avg, 4 TDs, 52 longest
(S10) - Kazimir Oles - WR 1101 Yards, 62 Catches, 17.8 avg, 5 TDs, 58 longest
My Pick: Well, not really humble of myself to toot my own horn but I think this year Fyodo was finally good and as was pointed out to me by @speculadora it was only the 3rd receiver ever with 1,500 yards while averaging 20+ yards per reception. Valentine with a second breakout season in a row, while Miller had almost the same campaign as last year when he won the MVP award. Veteran Crush and young stud Oles not far behind them, showing the one position league consistently produced great players is Wide Receiver.
Running Back of the Year Award
(S9) - Marquise Brown - RB 1555 Rushing Yards, 4.2 avg, 15 Rushing TDs, 237 Rec. Yards, 50 Catches, 7.9 avg, 4 Rec. TDs
(S11) - Jerrod Canton - RB 1352 Rushing Yards, 4.7 avg, 10 Rushing TDs, 25 Rec. Yards, 14 Catches, 3.6 avg
(S9) - Ricky Adams - RB 842 Rushing Yards, 5.2 avg, 9 Rushing TDs, 1004 Rec. Yards, 90 Catches, 11.2 avg, 9 Rec. TDs
(S12) - Dick Wizardry - RB 1198 Rushing Yards, 4.2 avg, 11 Rushing TDs, 287 Rec. Yards, 50 Catches, 5.7 avg
My Pick: Ricky Adams is taking the league by the storm and is doing it on extraordinary efficiency. He might not have raw yards Brown or Canton got, but he more than makes up for it with being a lethal receiver. Dick Wizardry is step behind the rest, but if he improves he might be the Adams next year.
Quarterback of the Year Award
(S6) - Borkus Maximus III - QB 4732 Yards, 59.4 Completion %, 26/13 TD/INT, 84.3 Rating, 325 Rushing Yards, 3 Rushing TDs
(S9) - Gus T.T. Showbiz - QB 4427 Yards, 56.2 Completion %, 28/13 TD/INT, 84 Rating, 51 Rushing Yards, 1 Rushing TD
(S8) - Childish Gambino - QB 4120 Yards, 62.1 Completion %, 23/10 TD/INT, 90.6 Rating, 90 Rushing Yards
My Pick: Borkus had arguably worst receiving corps (albeit best receiver, but his #2, #3 and #4 options were considerably worse than those of Showbiz or Gambino), but he still managed to run an efficient offense. Gambino had excellent first season after the miraculous transition to QB and Showbiz is poised to take over as the main contender for the award next year.
A lot of stats behind us and we are middle through the awards, let's talk a bit more about the awards you vote more based on the feeling than raw results.
GMs of the Year Award
AndrewWarren13 & ckroyal92
BWIII & 37thchamber's
RedCydranth & speculadora
My Pick: This still might change a bit depending on the outcome of the playoffs, but for all these mentioned this season has been a success. San Jose is finally back in the playoffs and rebuild is entering its final phase when they can reap awards of their hard work. Same can be said about the Liberty. Otters completed their transition from S1 core entirely too and the longest postseason streak that can be seems to be poised to continue.

Two simmers and maker of the most appealing draft in the sim-league community, every one of them deserves the recognition and this award.
Performance of the Year Award
(S9) - Gus T.T. Showbiz - QB Week 1 vs
378 Yards, 6 TD/0 INT, 27/36 147.9 Rating
(S10) - Damien Arnold - FS Week 8 vs
7 Tackles, 2 INT, 2 TD
(S7) - Mason Brown - LB Week 10 vs
5 Tackles, 1 Sack, 1 FR, 2 INT, 1 TD
My Pick: The only other category that can markedly change, as was seen last season when Vladimir Fyodorovich won it for his postseason game. All these are equally impressive, but I feel like Mason Brown 4 unique impactful plays should get the trophy here.
Breakout Player of the Year Award
(S9) - Vinny Valentine - WR 1325 Yards, 70 Catches, 18.9 avg, 7 TDs, 64 longest
(S10) - Lo Rax - DE41 Tackles, 11 TFL, 1 FF, 6 Sacks
(S5) - John Wachter - WR Up to 626 Rec. Yards from 148, 4 TDs up from 0
(S6) - Borro Gore - RB 693 Yards, 11 Rushing TDs
(S10) - Joliet L. Christ - QB 3212 Yards, 24/13 TD/INT
(S7) - Vladimir Fyodorovich - WR 1637 Yards, 81 Catches, 20.2 avg, 10 TDs, 76 longest
My Pick: This is a tough task for me, since I don't necessarily track all these players to firmly say who improve on year to year basis, apologies if I missed any obvious candidates! Anyway, from this group Lo Rax had a great season but was on a decent level a year before, and the biggest transition happened to Christ that more than doubled his Touchdowns, reducing picks significantly.
Edit: Valentine is good pick too, amazing to do that in back-to-back years.
I feel the fair approach for the Offensive/Defensive player is to compare winners I choose for each positional award once more and see who was most outstanding in that group. Similarly, MVP would be Offensive vs Defensive Player of the Year showdown.
Offensive Player of the Year Award
(S7) - Verso L'Alto - TE 835 Yards, 79 Catches, 10.6 avg, 8 TDs, 42 Pancakes, 3 Sacks allowed
(S5) - Peg Leg - K/P 22/25 FGM, 38/38XPM, 7/8 in 30-39, 8/9 in 40-49, 1/2 in 50+, 57 longest
(S6) - Borkus Maximus III - QB 4732 Yards, 59.4 Completion %, 26/13 TD/INT, 84.3 Rating, 325 Rushing Yards, 3 Rushing TDs
(S9) - Ricky Adams - RB 842 Rushing Yards, 5.2 avg, 9 Rushing TDs, 1004 Rec. Yards, 90 Catches, 11.2 avg, 9 Rec. TDs
(S7) - Vladimir Fyodorovich - WR 1637 Yards, 81 Catches, 20.2 avg, 10 TDs, 76 longest
My Pick: Well, I really feel like this was Fyodorovich Regular Season (who will miss the postseason for the first time). The 4th most receiving yards in league history and the most since Yates played as RB Receiver in Season 6. 2nd most after Westfield in Season 5 for the Wide Receiver. It was also a very consistent season with all games being 100+ receiving yards.
Defensive Player of the Year Award
(S11) - Kulture Fulture - K/P 16/82 Inside 20, 46 avg, 72 longest
(S11) - Dan Schneider - SS 66 Tackles, 1 FR, 12 Sacks, 2 PD
(S12) - Charlie Trout - LB 86 Tackles, 3 FR, 11 Sacks, 25 PD, 1 Safety
(S8) - Brock Weathers III - DE 40 Tackles, 10 TFL, 1 FF, 8 Sacks
My Pick: I had a lot fo trouble deciding for every single position, but here it seems even harder. Trout overall excellence might take a priority here. I think after last year and Selich outstanding performance we wondered if it was one for the ages for a rookie, but Trout this season proved he is capable of matching it.
Most Valuable Player Award
(S7) - Vladimir Fyodorovich - WR 1637 Yards, 81 Catches, 20.2 avg, 10 TDs, 76 longest
(S12) - Charlie Trout - LB 86 Tackles, 3 FR, 11 Sacks, 25 PD, 1 Safety
My Pick: I think I said everything I could think of already, talking about these players before so the results rest with the voting committee.
This took quite a while, hopefully, you enjoyed it! Good luck to all teams in the playoffs and see you next season!
