Well, apparently this whole management thing is going to be a bit more work than I was thinking. You guys play 14 games plus the playoffs, in baseball its 162, but I still have to do the same amount of work? Well, I guess the fact sports are hard is what makes them great. Plus, everyone here makes figuring out what’s going on really easy. There are all kinds of media pieces coming out all the time, and they’re great. My problem with them, is everyone is focusing on this big draft class going into the NSFL, no one’s focusing on the other big draft coming up. I’m a new co-GM in the DSFL, so I’d like to see a little bit more attention put on the new rookie prospects as well. Be the change you want to see or however that old saying goes. I can’t promise how great this scouting report’s going be, I’m new to this sport, but apparently the draft means a hell of a lot more in football than in baseball, so I’m giving it my best shot. Probably should’ve started scouting before my 4th bourbon of the day, but here we are.
QB Prospects –
1. Easton Cole - @JKortesi81
With Carlito Crush on his way out the door, JKortesi is ready to take advantage of expansion and make a quarterback early. As a recreate of a likely future hall of famer, activity is taken for granted here. As for Easton Cole, no one is quite sure who’s getting called up to the NSFL next year, but with a slew of quarterbacks retiring after the upcoming season and expansion looming, a lot of DSFL teams could be struggling for a reliable QB option in the near future. Easton is a pocket passer, and has focused on his throwing skills as well as intelligence early on. Hopefully this will mean fewer picks, but lower rated QBs aren’t the most consistent players. Even still, Cole will be hoping for a season like Armstrong’s this year to make an impression on NSFL GMs in advance of next season.
RB Prospects –
None so far. This is a far less pressing need in the DSFL. Most teams have at the very least a starting option and a viable backup, if not multiple starting caliber running backs. Regardless of who gets called up and who stays down, anticipate several strong running offenses in 2029.
WR Prospects –
1. Laszlo Forty-Two - @C9Van
One of the first things that comes to attention with Mr. 42 is his size. Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing in at 225 pounds, the Hungarian is an absolute monster. Look for Laszlo to make use of his size and his red zone threat build to be a reliable scoring target for whatever team drafts him next year. He won’t be burning many DBs sitting at only 70 speed, but he’s very smart sitting at 50 Intelligence. (Note to self: my current running back got a 3 on the Wonderlic, could he be a possible tutor?) He’ll know where to go to find open space against zone defences, and that will likely translate to fewer interceptions as well as a consistently open target. His steady hands at 73 should translate to a low drop rate, and his terminator like focus means I wouldn’t worry about big games or pressure getting to him. In addition, he’s already participated with media and has been earning TPE consistently since joining. You can find him in the discord frequently, and I think he’ll be a future talent.
2. Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff “Wolfie” McDummy - @infinitempg
(Note to self: why don’t media posts get paid by the letter if I have to type out this shit) Mr. McDummy is a recreate from a very well known player, so there’s not much to put here in terms of his activity, no one is questioning that. Wolfeschlegelsteinhausenbergerdorff as his own entity, however, is not as well known at all. He has openly discussed wanting to use his DSFL position change, so I’d keep that in mind for whoever decides to take him. Wolfie is a speed receiver, and at 74 speed he’d be able to blow right past Mr. 42, as well as quite a few other players still who are still at their 50 TPE build. (Has earned 57 TPE but hasn’t applied it yet) His catching is quite suspect, however, at 60. Likely an early pick, if for no other reason than the near guarantee of activity, Wolfie’s career will be something to watch.
TE Prospects –
1. DeMarcus Strike - @OwlStrike13
This is a tough one because I do like a solid tight end (heh), but DeMarcus has said from day 1 that his DSFL team of choice would be Kansas City. I might be a hard ass to my players, but I’d never force someone to play where they don’t want to. Strike is another recreate, albeit from a less well-known source, and one that went inactive last time he created a player. Even still, it looks like this guy will be solid as a 6’7 vertical threat. The worst-case scenario with this guy would be that he earns TPE slowly, and from a DSFL perspective that ends up being beneficial for long term success, or, best-case, he could be a solid earner and be a great player quickly, even if it’s for fewer seasons. Either way, this is a great pickup. Already sitting at 64 TPE, this guy may be tall, but he can run. Currently he’s got 75 speed but expect that to go up quickly. The one big gripe here is that he’s not much of a blocker, so a team that wants a hybrid player might struggle to make him fit in their scheme.
OL Prospects –
1. Anthony Jemima - @Vulgar
As a Tijuana GM, I love an Offensive line prospect. As a human being, I don’t know how I feel about a 12-year-old playing in the NSFL. Even if you get past his age, it’s also notable that his last level of completed education was at Grace Lutheran Preschool (Note to self: could still probably tutor Forrest) which raises a red flag or 2. Past that, there is nothing to dislike about this guy. An absolute unit at 6 feet 8 inches tall, 340 pounds (seriously, 12-years-old???) Jemima was born at the Flapjack Factory and should be able to plant defenders on their asses next season. 73 strength is a little lower than you’d like in an offensive lineman, but from a technical perspective, he’s a talent. Built as a pass blocker, he’s gifted with solid pass blocking ability, but he invested 40 TPE of his original 50 build into run blocking, so that title is a bit misleading. Consistently active since creation and a very talented graphics maker, Jemima would be an excellent piece in the quest to build the wall.
2. Ben Tu'inukuafe - @Ben
Now, Ben is not only a GM, but is my co-GM. Therefore, I know he’s going to be on my team, and he’s already guaranteed to be our second-round draft pick. We don’t have many draft picks, so knowing one is already gone could feel like a burden, but he will be a steal in the second round. Obviously as a GM, activity isn’t a question. Quite a bit shorter than Jemima at 6’4, Ben weighs in the same at 340lbs, and the Kiwi is quite a bit stronger as well. An athletic lineman, Mr. Tu'inukuafe currently is at a staggering 82 strength. Any defensive lineman had better be ready to throw down against him next year. For that matter, linebackers should be too, and any defensive backs who have to try and make it through this guy next yea outta just pray. Pass and run blocking skills are low at the moment, but with the raw physicality brought to the table here, that won’t matter too much. Anticipate Ben fighting with Beaver-Dantes and Ulysses for most pancake blocks next year on Tijuana. (Note to self: They should be fighting for offensive lineman of the year, but this league disrespects some positions apparently)
DE Prospects –
1. Antonio Sandoval Jr. - @TheMemeMaestro
TheMemeMaestro is back. Apparently that means something important, I don’t really know, I’m still new here. In any case, what it does mean is we have another recreate whose activity won’t really need to be discussed. While in the NSFL, Sandoval Jr. has discussed wanting to play for his hometown team in Denver, his DSFL fate is still up in the air. 6’5, 300lbs, the 18-year-old straight out of Notre Dame has a balanced build, which has it’s positives and drawbacks. In the long term, Antonio will be able to stop the run, get to the quarterback, and just wreak havoc, but early on, balanced players can sometimes struggle by virtue of not being good enough at any one thing to make a significant impact. Even so, defensive linemen are always a need in the league, and look no further for a viable option for the future than right here. As a DSFL GM, it should be kept in mind that he seems to be here to play for the Yeti, so you’re looking at a temporary DSFL player, rather than a potential send down.
2. Hakuna Matata - @superwoman0688
Speaking of potential send downs, this is really the only currently inactive player of the bunch. Matata has logged into the site since creating a player, but hasn’t made a post since player creation, and either isn’t active on the discord or simply hasn’t joined it. There’s always a chance Matata could become active again, the draft is coming up and it’s very possible they haven’t been active because nothing has really been happening for them. The other option is that Hakuna will remain inactive, and their current build will stay the way it is permanently. At 6’5, 280, the speed rusher out of Delaware has invested all 50 starting TPE into agility and strength. Look for Matata to use those attributes to work past offensive lineman to get to the quarterback, but will likely need some time to be able to beat their blockers. Probably best to work Matata into a zone scheme, with young quarterbacks in the DSFL, it will probably give them a little longer to shed blocks. Unfortunately, at their current level, Matata will likely struggle against the run.
3. Evan Trigg - @greygoosevodka
(Note to self: if username is any indication, draft at all costs) The 6’5, 290 pound power rusher will be suited to play defensive end in a 4-3 defense or a right/left defensive tackle in a 3-4 setup. A bit of a jack of all trades but master of none, but versatility at this age is definitely a benefit in this case, it will allow Evan to develop towards his DSFL GMs needs. Not the most active of the recreates in this draft, but definitely a solid option in the middle rounds of a draft. As with Matata, Trigg will need to be given some time to work past his blockers at his current level, but as strength increases, Evan will be a viable option in any scheme.
DT Prospects –
1. Sam Torenson - @Jonny2x
Sam is known to some from other sim leagues, has been active since creation, and can be found fairly frequently in the discord. He’s already participated with media, and activity wise he’s a good bet. In addition, Torenson has the benefit of playing in a position of need for pretty much every team in the league. This could be because DT is tough to play in the sim. It’s a thankless job to eat up blocks so your teammates can make plays and the display of the sim doesn’t really do it justice. Despite that, Sam is not only a defensive tackle, but a run stuffer, which means he’ll be double teamed a lot. The Clintonville farm boy is strong as hell, and will be a nightmare for offensive lineman next season.
LB Prospects –
1. Blake Faux - @AlexF
Despite his name, this kid is for real. (Note to self: come on, you’re better than that) A balanced linebacker coming out of Vanderbilt, he’s another new guy, but has shown he’s active. Faux has already made a signature and an update page, and has been collecting TPE consistently. The Vandy product will be a pretty typical middle linebacker but could play outside linebacker in a 4-3 scheme. He’s got a high motor and a really solid football IQ, so you’ll be able to trust him making adjustments on the field right from the get-go. He’ll be able to get into some key situations to throw off quarterbacks, and has really reliable hands as a defender, meaning he can snag picks with the best of them. The big drawback here is his speed issues, as Blake lacks the ability to be a sideline to sideline defender. Even still, he should be able to command the centre of the field in a zone scheme, which will also allow him to take advantage of those hands more.
2. Blaster Blade Jr. - @Blaster
Blaster is a recreate from a player who seems well known, but took a break for a little while. Given the healthy NSFL-life balance, Blaster comes with both a high likelihood of consistent activity, as well as a lower risk of burnout. Created right after the trade deadline, Blade Jr. has been earning TPE consistently. Built as a speed rusher, the prospect coming from LSU would be best suited to a 3-4 defense to best take advantage of his blazing speed at 80 already. There isn’t really anything much else to note build wise, but speed kills, and you can’t really make up for a lack of it. While he has the ability to get to the quarterback consistently, his speed also means he can be an imposing figure in run defense as well. Some endurance may be needed to solidify that role, as he’ll likely get gassed running all over the field. In addition, while he’s listed as a linebacker as a prospect, his update page is listed as a defensive end. He’ll likely fit in either role depending on scheme, but he needs to come down on what position he wants to play in the DSFL soon.
3. Pierce Van Buren - @adam2552
Our next recreate, Pierce van Buren, is someone who again can’t really be questioned in terms of activity level. Carter Bush had a solid but not spectacular career, but activity levels were steady throughout that time. A balanced linebacker, Van Buren is looking to be the Commander in Chief of his defense from the middle linebacker position. Very quick with a reliable tackle and decent endurance, Pierce is the answer for any teams looking for a sideline to sideline tackler. He may be less flashy than some of the other prospects, but PvB should be a model of consistency on and off the field.
CB Prospects –
1. Dermot Lavelle Jr. - @[WhiteCornerback]
(Note to self: there sure are an awful lot of juniors in this draft…) Love him or hate him, most people in the league know who Dermot is. No one is going to ask whether or not Dermot will be active the next season, and some teams have even (perhaps in jest) mentioned tanking for him. There’s a lot to live up to for young Lavelle Jr. The 18-year-old Canadian’s father is a league legend, holding onto the all-time career interception record with 57. The next closest, Blackford Oakes, had 41. Lavelle Sr. is also widely regarded as one of, if not the best, corner in NSFL history. Lavelle Jr. has started in the weight room, focusing on his strength, and I imagine if his training regiment came even a little bit from his father, it’s better than what I would come up with. He’s a zone cornerback, and will be looking to pick off quarterbacks as well as hit hard next season. Dermot is another player than DSFL teams should expect to only retain for a single season, but if it’s anything like his father’s career, it will be one heck of a season. Expect Dermot to go off the board early.
2. Anthony Rowland - @ARJ04
(My apologies for missing this one initially, maybe these drinks do make me worse at scouting…) This guy is new to the NSFL, but he’s an active one. Sitting at an extremely impressive 118 TPE, Rowland has the most impressive build of anyone in this draft class. A zone corner like Dermot, Rowland has invested a significant amount of TPE into his hands. As a matter of fact, at 70 rated hands, he’s a significantly better receiving option in terms of catching to receiver prospect Wolfie McDummy. Strength and tackling are both extremely low for this prospect, and that raises a lot of red flags, especially this far into his development, but Rowland possesses both the speed and agility to get to the right spot to make a play before the catch is made. Against some run heavy teams I’d question his effectiveness, but against young DSFL quarterbacks, Rowland should be poised for a big year of interceptions and pass deflections.
S Prospects –
1. Jaylen Storm - @Daybe
Another recreate, this time from an NSFL GM, meaning even if he did consider going inactive, he’s kind of locked in at this point. Storm is an Alabama product like our running back Forrest Gump, and he’s invested his starting build into similar areas, speed and endurance. He’ll be able to fly around the field, and with his centre fielder archetype, will be a key component of whatever team drafts him. Safety is a fairly active positional group from the upcoming NSFL draft class, so this isn’t as big a team need for many clubs and draft stock may suffer due to that, but Storm should be the first name on the team sheet for any team losing their safeties to the NSFL.
K/P Prospects –
1. ForThe Brand - @Renrut
Final prospect, and, incidentally, final recreate. The 18-year-old is a UW-Whitewater project with a balanced build, who will be hoping for a long and illustrious career in the NSFL. Beginning with 73 kick power and kick accuracy, Brand will be an excellent temporary solution to any team with kicking or punting woes, but will be kicking in the big leagues soon enough. No issues with activity here, and unfortunately there’s not a whole lot to say beyond the fact that he’s talented, rock steady, and will only improve going forward.
Alright, probably not the best idea to be posting my secret scouting report for all to see... but then again I once sold my team’s equipment to fund a week long bender, so I think it’s pretty clear that I’m here to cash in, and it’s double media right now. Scouting has really just begun, so if you’re looking to be drafted into the DSFL and want to reach out to see if you’d like to be a Luchadore, please feel free. Time for a drink.
