Looking forward to seeing these teams in the final. Not just because it will get me TPE.

prompt Wrote:Written Option: In 200 words, look ahead towards the postseason, either NSFL or DSFL. Who do you see coming out on top? What dark horse teams do you think can make a run? Will your player be a vital part of your team’s championship, or will you be sobbing on the couch at home? Give your best predictions here. It would be natural to think that the Copperheads have a good chance to make a run in the playoffs. To the extent that momentum matters, we have it - we're on a 7 game winning streak including wins at the division's top seeded Otters and third seeded Second Line. Despite that, the Wraiths just look amazing and they're honestly my pick to actually take down the Ultimus trophy this year. If we make it to the finals against them I have complete faith that we'll be able to put up a decent showing, but their scoring defense is just wildly better than everyone else this season. If anything, I don't understand how they didn't beat the Second Line in week 8 with a +2 turnover differential - I'd have to go back and watch the tape to understand I guess. But yeah, the Wraiths are just looking like the favorites and I don't see them not getting there this season. I guess there's a chance that the Yeti reprise their week 1 win but with as inconsistent as they've been in the second half of the season I'm expecting that won't be the case. Refocusing on the copperheads, though, I think that I'll matter in our games but I'd be (happily!) surprised if I'm the critical player on the DL in the playoffs. Kyle and Grayson have been getting better penetration this season and while I've picked things up a bit with tips I'm getting from them, I think I'm definitely more of a 'run to the other side' kind of signal for the opposing teams. And I'm fine with that - helping shut down part of the field is useful even if it doesn't show up as stats. But yeah, my role has been more OL engagement and less flash. I've had some good plays, don't get me wrong, but I'd be surprised to end up as the most valuable defensive player in any of our playoff games. ![]() Draft Steal (retired S35 CB) - Profile/Update | Wiki Troen Egghands (retired S22 DE) - Profile | Update | Wiki
In one of the most improbable runs in NSFL history the Austin Copperheads are riding a 7 game winning streak into the playoffs after starting the season 1-4-1. A team many had predicted to be an Ultimus contender was counted out after the first half of the season because of disappointing results, but we've flipped the script and changed the narrative to earn the second seed in the ASFC. Three more games stand in front of us and an Ultimus title. It feels very improbable that we end the season on a 10 game winning streak to claim our second Ultimus title, however I think it is definitely possible. Also, my season and playoff predictions are very much riding on us winning out. In the NSFC I think the Wraiths emerge victorious for the fifth straight season, however I think that there is a good chance they do that by beating the Sailfish in the NSFC Championship Game. I think that although the Yeti are a good team they're primed to be upset by a spunky expansion team who are proving doubters wrong.
In the DSFL the Tijuana Luchadores and Minnesota Grey Ducks seem to be on a collision course for each other in the Ultimini. The Luchadores should have home field advantage in that eventual game which is the deciding factor in why I think they'll emerge victorious and claim another Ultimini title. ![]()

Due to how the conferences stacked up this year and how tiebreaks played out, my player will be fuming at home and is still considering whether he will tune in. In the meantime, I'll put down my thoughts on playoffs going in.
The one team I can never count out to win the championship is the Orange County Otters. They earned the number one seed in a tough ASFC and they have been a force from the league's beginnings. On the opposite side, the Yellowknife Wraiths have been phenomenal as well, and their superior record would give an advantage since they would be home for the Ultimus should they win the NSFC title game. Additionally, they enter on a 5-game winning streak. Of those who must play tonight to reach the conference championships, Austin seems the best of the bunch to take on both Orange County and Yellowknife. Just two games ago, they steamrolled the New Orleans Second Line, who they rematch in the Wild Card. The Yeti have been good when they're supposed to be, though that would likely get them to a date with Yellowknife at the latest. And that's a bit optimistic, given their Wild Card opponent, the Sarasota Sailfish, beat them three games ago. Colorado host, though, so that might swing things in what looks to be a tight contest. Overall, I predict it'll go chalk until the Ultimus - Austin and Colorado win tonight, Orange County and Yellowknife win on Monday, then Orange County breaks the home streak and wins the title. The playoffs are always an exciting time and in a sport like football, we have seen some amazing upsets and surprises. Obviously this sport has a tremendous home field advantage but in one game anything can happen and as I said, we have had some amazing great upsets before so you never know who could win the title. Even the best team might lose at some point. In our case, this season, we come into the playoffs as a mix of a lot of different things. We are coming into it as the last season's winner and defending champion, so there is a lot of pressure on us. At the same time, we come in as a huge underdog, as a team who only snuck their way into the playoffs, barely and after a season in which we honestly struggled a lot. We started four rookies on defense and a couple more on offense and it is still a great sign that we made the playoffs anyway. We will need to essentially win three road games in a row, all with around 30% win percentage or similar to it, so our chances of repeating as champions seems very slim but we will not give up. Crazier things have happened in sport and we have a great team that can beat anyone on a good day. If my math is not completely off, three games of 30% would give us around a 2.7% chance of winning the title. Never say never!

Since we have cemented ourselves in the playoffs I am willing to submit the Minnesota grey Ducks as the potential winners of the Ultamini. it would be a stretch to say that we are the Dark Horse when we did win our division and have performed quite admirably against similar photos. However it does not look like we are the favorites so perhaps the term Dark Horse might be in order. Myrtle Beach might consider themselves the team that has the most capped out players but I promise you the TPE of the Grey Ducks is pretty much second to none. By the way where is Myrtle Beach? Oh yeah they're sitting at home watching the playoffs like the rest of you Jabornies. We have stars that almost every position on the field and we are battle-ready. With the backfield of myself and Jamar Lackson we are going to run wild over any foe that comes into our house. As a matter of fact The Zed is predicting almost a hundred yards on the ground for each of us, and we will take home the Ultimate Prize. And we will cement ourselves as the favorites going forward. The error of the gray Ducks is upon us and there is no duck duck goose about any of this. It is now known as duck duck grey duck.
If you could see the future, you would see the Minnesota Grey ducks winning the S22 DSFL championship. This team has been getting better all year long and they’re going to play the best when it matters. You’ll see them stream roll the London Royals for the 3rd time this season winning by over 10 points. After that you’ll see a tightly contested game against the Tijuana Luchadors at Tijuana’s home field. This is the match up of the year as these two teams have a very deep long term rivalry and this is another grudge match. These teams just match up very well with eachother its hard to say talent wise that either one has an edge up but my guess is the Grey ducks experience and Strong defensive line presence. I have nothing but respect for Tijuana and their team but I think we’re going to see the Grey ducks sneak out a close game that likely will come down to a Phillip Stein field goal to win it for the Grey Ducks. This will cap one heck of a redemption season and put the Minnesota Grey ducks right back on top of the entire DSFL where everyone knows that they truly belong.
