S23 NSFL Draft Rounds 1-5 Way too early review
The S23 draft is coming off the tails of the largest draft in NSFL history, the S22 draft with over 200 participants. With some high expectations to live up to, they do a fantastic job and have one of the best first two rounds in NSFL history. Without playing any games or making it through all the ups and downs of a season, I am gonna grade all of the players selected from rounds 1-5.
Round 1 Pick 1
Colorado Yetis select Greedy Sly Safety
Well they did it. They didn't overthink it and try to bolster an aging linebacker group, even with two active and young safeties, they went with the highest earning and most notable draftee in this class, Greedy Sly. Sly first made a name for himself by being not only incredibly active, but making multiple podcasts, high quality podcasts with important and well known figures in the league. Towards the end of the DSFL year, he would end up becoming the Co-GM of the London Royals. Drafted first overall by the London Royals in the DSFL, he was selected first overall in both drafts, a rare occurance. As of right now, he has the highest tpe of all players selected in the S23 draft class, and should be a phenomenal player for years to come. Gets bonus points for being a pats fan. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 2
Baltimore Hawks select Tyler Montain Defensive Lineman
With the second pick in the draft, the Baltimore Hawks selected Tyler Montain, defensive lineman from the Dallas Birddogs. Just like Greedy Sly ahead of him, he was also drafted with the second overall pick in the DSFL draft, and was well worth the pick. The Baltimore Hawks are also solving a huge need on defense, with the very young Nuniq Annastesia still developing, Montain will be a great choice to replace the inactive S21 Sardine Bean. Immediately being called up to the NSFL, Baltimore is hoping that he can develop to become an allstar and franchise player. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 3
Honolulu Hahalua select Heinrich Kackpoo Linebacker
And with the first overall pick...... Heinrich Kackpoo is not selected *RIP TPE*. Heinrich Kackpoo was another max earner down in the DSFL, and was drafted 13th overall by the Portland Pythons in the DSFL Draft. Jumping up 10 positions in between drafts is a huge accomplishment, and is even bigger going from 13th to 3rd. The Honolulu Hahalua are still an expansion franchise in their second year, so they have needs all along their offense and defense, so they had the luxary of almost any choice being a good one. He will join S22 Linebacker Jack Banks in the front 7 and should be a great piece for a young expansion franchise. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 4
Arizona Outlaws select DB Jadakiss Safety
With the fourth pick, the Outlaws would bolster their young secondary by picking up DB Jadakiss. Jadakiss was a near max earner in the DSFL, and was considered one of the top safties in the draft, even with four or five other top tier safties. While there were other safeties with more tpe, he fills a big need for the Outlaws who are bringing him up to the NSFL immediately. With the other young pieces among the Outlaws defense, Jadakiss should be a fantastic piece to wrap up a solid looking young secondary. Way too early grade: A-
Round 1 Pick 5
Philadelphia Liberty select Tycker Om Defensive Lineman
With the fifth pick in the draft, the Philadelphia Liberty select Tycker Om. A defensive lineman from the Tijuana Luchadores, Tycker Om was a high earning lineman in the DSFL and will be called straight up to the NSFL. With ILove Gimmy recently retiring, the only other Defensive end on the Liberty is 91 tpe Jeff Personsacker. The defensive line on the Liberty is easily the worst in the league, with personsacker and S22 DT Tristan Gronlie both under 150tpe, Tycker Om will immediately be a starter and difference maker for a much needed role on the Liberty. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 6
San Jose Sabercats select Tychondrius Hood Wide Reciever
With the sixth pick, the Sabercats select Wide Reciever from Minnesota, Tychondrius Hood. The best looking reciever in the draft with high tpe, he has also been very active with media pieces and occasional gfx submissions. The Sabercats were in desperate need at reciever, with Action Jackson leaving in free agency, the only active reciever left on the team was Deondre Thomas-Fox, a solid and reliable first option, but they had a need for a second reciever to help spread the offense more. The only other major need for the Sabercats was lineman and safety, but they resolved the defensive line issue in the second round, so the pick of Ty Hood was an excellent one. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 7
Sarasota Sailfish select Son Goku Defensive End
With the seventh pick in the draft, and first of two in the first round, the Sarasota Sailfish select Son Goku, Defensive End from the Kansas City Coyotes. With back to back picks, it didn't matter too much where both picks played their position at since they were both basically picked at the same draft position, so with the first pick they selected Son Goku. With defensive line being a position of need for the Sailfish, they had no issue taking a top earner on the line and he should be a fantastic fit to help sure up that defensive line. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 8
Sarasota Sailfish select Raphael d'Alcott Safety
With the eight pick, and their second in the first round, the Sarasota Sailfish select Raphael d'Alcott from the Dallas Birddogs. The Sailfish have a pretty decent secondary, even with some old cornerbacks, their safeties were also pretty solid, with the S20 Jamie Nkiah being a fantastic earner, and S19 Beat, while not being the best earner, still being an active player with a gfx job. Raphael d'Alcott is a max earner, and very active with multiple media pieces. While safety was going to be a position needing a future player, the position that they really should be looking into is cornerback, with a S15 and S17 corner on their team, they need a cornerback very badly in the draft and upcoming drafts. Way too early grade: B+
Round 1 Pick 9
Honolulu Hahalua select Ray-Ray Jackson Cornerback
With the nineth pick, the Hahalua select Ray-Ray Jackson, cornerback from the Minnesota Grey Ducks. A near max earner in the DSFL, he was the consensus #1 corner of this years draft. With the only remaining corner on their roster at the moment being S20 inactive Victor Moreno, Ray-Ray could have easily been brought up to the starting rotation. The Hahalua really did not have any needs that matched their need at cornerback, so chosing ray-ray to become their future franchise player was a very smart decision that should pay off when he gets called up. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 10
Yellowknife Wraiths select L'Carpetron Dookmarriot Safety
With the first double digit pick of the draft, the Wraiths select, L'Carpetron Dookmarriot. A max earning safety in the DSFL, he is another top rated safety in the draft, from the Myrtle Beach Buccaneers. The Wraiths had the best record in the NSFL last year, and lost to the eventual champion Yetis in the conference championship. They really did not have any major needs, the only position that they could really use would be a young corner to take over for when S13 CB Johnny Snuggles retires. In terms of safety, they already have three on their roster, including Magnus Valdyr and Johnny Hellzapoppin, who are both S22 draftees, so taking another safety might not have been the biggest priority, but it looks like they just selected the best available player. Way too early grade: A-
Round 1 Pick 11
Orange County Otters select Bob Bob Safety
With the eleventh pick in the draft the Orange County Otters selected Bob Bob, safety out of London. The fifth safety selected in the first round, he is another max earner from a London team with an impressive secondary. The Otters were sniffing the Ultimus this year, and were 3 points short of winning, so they really do not have to make any improvements. With the soon hall of fame quarterback Franklin Armstrong still leading their offense, they looked to securing someone for the future of their defense. With S18 Tyrone Biggums and S21 Prince Vegeta, safety is not a need to fill for Orange County, but any pick would have been a good pick considering the team's outlook. Way too early grade: A
Round 1 Pick 12
Colorado Yeti select Dick Thruster Offensive Lineman
With the final pick of the first round, the Colorado Yeti select Dick Thruster, Offensive Lineman from Myrtle Beach. The offensive lineman out of Myrtle Beach was considered one of the top linemen in the draft, right behind Julio Jones of Minnesota. The Yeti coming off of a championship aren't looking to replace anyone or refill any positions, so selecting someone to help protect Wolfie McFuckDummy is a very thoughtful decision, even though he will not be going straight to the main roster. The only hit would be him not being the highest rated linemen on the board still, but when you're the champions it makes no difference. Way too early grade: A
Round 2 Pick 1
Chicago Butchers select Hingle McGringleberry Linebacker
With the Butchers first pick of the draft, and the first pick of the second round, the Chicago Butchers select Hingle McGringleberry from Dallas. The second linebacker taken in the draft, McGringleberry was not the highest tpe linebacker still available, but was still a top tier player. The Butchers had the worst record of the S22 season, only managing one win in an abysmal year. They had holes in almost every position, but in free agency they were able to improve their secondary with the addition of Tyler Oles Jr. and defensive line with the addition of Mario Von Pebbles. Both players should be key pieces in the franchise for years to come, and that left wide reciever and linebacker as the two biggest positions of need. McGringleberry impressed the GMs in the interview process, so they had no problem selecting him here, and as long as he stays active, he should be a fantastic choice for seasons to come. Way too early grade: A+
Round 2 Pick 2
Philadelphia Liberty select Eugene Smoothie Safety
With the 14th pick of the draft, the Liberty select Eugene Smoothie, safety out of Myrtle Beach. The second year in a row for Philly taking a safety in the second round, Eugene Smoothie was a key piece in a phenomenal Myrtle Beach secondary. With the Liberty having Wesley Eriksen and Matt Cross from S22 developing, this pick is a little confusing. Even with an aging S15 player in Richard D'Attoria, the Liberty had other needs to fill in this draft, including Cornerback, with two S22 corners in Brandon Booker, and Jonathan Altidor. Booker is developing into a phenomenal player, while Altidor has not been developing since being drafted. If they can convince Smoothie to convert to corner, it will be a great pick, but if he stays a safety, it would be picking the best available player over a position they needed. Way too early grade: B-
Round 2 Pick 3
Arizona Outlaws select Julio Jones Offensive Lineman
With the 15th pick of the draft, the Arizona Outlaws select Julio Jones, offensive lineman out of Minnesota. The second of the big boys on the offense, Julio Jones was considered the best offensive lineman in the draft. He was a critical piece in the Minnesota offense, blocking for the Fastest runningback in the league Jamar Lackson, and quarterback Sim SnowBow. The Outlaws drafted two o-linemen in the S22 draft, Bruce Buckley and Calving Golladay. Both have started to develop into great talents, and are great value for their production. Julio Jones will spend another year in the DSFL, but when he gets called up, he will be a great lineman, and great for the value as well. With linebacker being the only other position that the Outlaws really had a need for, this was a fantastic pick. Way too early grade: A+
Round 2 Pick 4
Austin Copperheads select Griffin Porter Linebacker
For the 16th pick of the draft, the Copperheads selected Griffin Porter, linebacker out of Tijuana. A top prospect, there were a few mocks with him in the first round. The Copperheads were in a need for some help on the defense, with the top two cornerback slots filled with a very solid veteran in Dermot Lavelle Jr. and S22 first overall pick Colt Mendoza, they decided to take a linebacker to help an aging Honda Edmond and S21 linebacker Holden Summers. Porter will immediately be called up to the Copperheads roster, and should develop into an incredible player. Way too early grade: A+
Round 2 Pick 5
Baltimore Hawks select CJ Riley Safety
With pick 17, the Baltimore Hawks select CJ Riley, safety out of Portland. Picking up their GM's player, you can't really grade it. CJ Riley is immediatly called up to the Hawks roster, and will be a starter in the Hawks secondary. So even though it is a GM pick, it filled a position that they needed, and would have been a great pick even without him being GM. Way too early grade: GM Pick/A+
Round 2 Pick 6
San Jose Sabercats select Water Chestnut III Defensive Lineman
With the 18th pick in the draft, San Jose selects Water Chestnut III, Defensive Lineman out of Minnesota. Another GM pick, he fills a huge hole in the Sabercats roster, being the best end on their team over S21 inactive? Chip Otle. Even with Chestnut being a GM, this was a fantastic pick. Way too early grade: GM Pick/A+
Round 2 Pick 7
Arizona Outlaws select Joseph Petrongolo Runningback
With pick 19, the Outlaws select Joseph Petrongolo, runningback out of Portland. With Baby Yoda from S21 still being their starting runningback and developing into one of the leagues best runningbacks, this pick is a little confusing to me. With the need of a third linebacker still, the Outlaws could have gone with Tyrone Woods or Eric Richards, two great linebackers still available on the board. With Petrongolo planning to play a year in the DSFL, he will either become a second option behind Baby Yoda, or a backup option in case Yoda ever decides to test free agency. With Petrongolo still being a fantastic prospect though, it is not an awful pick. Way too early grade: B-
Round 2 Pick 8
Baltimore Hawks select Lesean Paris Crooks Cornerback
With the 20th pick in the draft, the Hawks select Lesean Paris Crooks, cornerback out of London. The second cornerback taken in the draft, I was surprised he was not taken earlier. While he does not fill a need for the Hawks this year, the Hawks have an aging S15 corner in Quentin Sinclair, and an S18 corner Juan Marston, who seems to have stopped developing. So while they might not get production out of him right away, he will be a fantastic cornerback in the future as long as he keeps developing. Way too early grade: A+
Round 2 Pick 9
Honolulu Hahalua select Bane Ka'ana'ana Cornerback
With the 21st pick in the draft, the Hahalua select Bane Ka'ana'ana, corner out of Tijuana. Another GM pick, if it was not a GM pick, it would recieve an A+ for the name alone. He will step into the expansion franchise in S24, and will replace S20 inactive Victor Moreno. So even with him being a GM pick, it was a fantastic choice to fill a team need. Way too early grade: GM Pick/A+
Round 2 Pick 10
Yellowknife Wraiths select Kai Sakura Wide Reciever
With the 22nd pick of the draft, the Wraiths select Kai Sakura, wide reciever out of Minnesota. The second reciever taken in the draft, he is a phenomenal talent and should be able to develop into one of the leagues top recievers. Kai Sakura was one of the best available players in the draft this year, but the Wraiths were so deep at reciever, that Sakura might not see the field for his rookie contract. With S13 Nate Swift retiring soon, they still have S18 Bender Bending Rodriguez as their number one choice, and recent free agent addition S17 Action Jackson as a number two option. Even after those three, S19 Willie B. Hardagain is a developing reciever and S22 Mike Lee has also been developing at a fast rate. So even after the rookie contract ends, he might be the third option. While Kai is a fantastic player, the Wraiths really needed to go with either a cornerback or linebacker to help fill some future gaps on the team. Way too early grade: C (Based on the choice, not the player)
Round 2 Pick 11
Orange County Otters select Carl Wheezer Defensive Lineman
With the 23rd pick of the draft, Orange County selects Carl Wheezer, defensive lineman out of Kansas City. Carl Wheezer is a fantastic player to pick up here, one of the best still available to be drafted, with only a slight asthma problem. The Orance County Otters are coming off of another phenomenal year, and they dont really have any holes on their team other than defensive end, so a conversion would make this pick one of the best in the draft. Even then, they always seem to end up being a top team, so its hard to judge them for any pick here. Way too early grade: A
Round 2 Pick 12
New Orleans Second Line select Adelie De Pengu Linebacker
With the final pick of the second round, the Second Line select Adelie De Pengu, Linebacker out of Norfolk. The last GM pick of the second round, he will be spending a year in the DSFL before being called up. This users last created did not last very long in the league, so here is hoping he can last as long as Quenton Bode has lasted for the Second Line. Way too early grade: GM Pick
Round 3 Pick 1
Chicago Butchers select Lucas Scabbia Wide Reciever
With the first pick of the third round, the Butchers select Lucas Scabbia, wide reciever out of Dallas. Lucas is one of the top recievers of the draft, and will be going to a Butchers team in desperate need of help on the offensive side of the ball. Even though he is spending a year developing in the DSFL, he will be a fantastic addition to Sean O' Leary in a developing Butchers offense. The Butchers are coming off of one of the worst offensive seasons of all time, starting Franky LeFluer, they had 0 passing touchdowns after trading away Rose Jenkins. Adding Lucas to a passing offense including S21 QB George O' Donnell, S19 WR Sean O' Leary, S21 TE Tree Gelbman and S22 TE Von Hayes, he will be a phenomenal addition to a young and rising Butchers team. Way too early grade: A+
Round 3 Pick 2
Colorado Yeti select Jackson Kingston Wide Reciever
With the 26th pick of the draft, the Yeti select Jackson Kingston, wide reciever out of Tijuana. The champions of S22, the Yeti are adding another reciever to an offense that just lost franchise hero James Bishop to retirement. Becoming another target for Wolfie McDummy, Jackson Kingston will be a fine addition to a Yeti team looking to repeat and build on a fantastic team. The Yeti will definitely need Kingston to step up right away, replacing the retired Bishop as another option behind S21 Red Arrow and S22 William Lim. The Yeti don't really have to choose someone to fill a need, so their passing game will be scary for years to come as all three young recievers develop. Way too early grade: A+
Round 3 Pick 3
Honolulu Hahalua select Nicholas Ayers Runningback
With the 27th pick of the draft, the Hahalua select Nicholas Ayers, runningback out of Myrtle Beach. Coming off of a rough start to an expansion franchise, the Hahalua are looking for someone to be a franchise player. Nicholas Ayers is a fantastic runningback prospect, and will be replacing the retiring S15 runningback Ruff Ruff. The Hahalua have a young but talented defense, that should develop into one of the leagues best in a few years. They also have a young offense, but are going to have a huge gap at runningback and tight end. With S22 runningback Ke'oke'o K?ne-Maika?i still developing at a great pace however, Nicholas Ayers is looking like he will be the second option. With fullbacks being used to a great extent on teams like the Second Line and Otters, he might fill in that role, so it is hard to gauge what will happen with his career. Way too early grade: A-
Round 3 Pick 4
Arizona Outlaws select Benoit Blanco Wide Reciever
With the 28th pick in the draft, the Outlaws select, Benoit Blanco, wide reciever out of Norfolk. With a recent change to Safety, the grade on this pick has completely changed. Blanco was a top rated reciever from the Seawolves, and was looking to be another young option for a young Outlaws offense. The only issue he really had was a lack of cash apparently, maybe he should apply to be a gfx grader. The Outlaws drafted Jadakiss with their first round pick, and had a need for reciever, so changing from a position of need to one that already had two active safties was weird. But the keyword was "had". With the shocking retirement of Quinn Hughes, Blanco has now swapped to a position needed in the Outlaws defense. Adding onto a very young but talented secondary, this pick has been a roller coaster of changed grades and weirdness overall. Way too early grade: B+ -> D -> A
Round 3 Pick 5
Philadelphia Liberty select Dre Matthews Wide Reciever
With the 29th pick of the draft, the Liberty select Dre Matthews, wide reciever out of Norfolk. Norfolk had two of their recievers drafted back to back, and for good reasons. Dre Matthews was another top end reciever, and was very similar to Benoit Blanco. The Liberty are picking up Dre Matthews and will keep him in the DSFL. With S15 Nacho Varga still being one of the best recievers in the league, in both rating and name, by the end of Matthews rookie contract, Nacho will be facing serious regression the next two seasons, with S20 reciever Randy Vuxta and S21 WR Flash Panda both developing well, Matthews is really going to have to earn a roster spot. The Liberty still need a decent corner with S22 corner Altidor lagging behind. Way too early grade: C
Round 3 Pick 6
Sarasota Sailfish select Mike Karpaasi Defensive Lineman
With the 30th pick of the draft, the Sailfish select Mike Karpaasi, Defensive Lineman out of Norfolk. The third Seawolve taken in a row, Karpaasi will be called up to the Sailfish's roster right away along with round one pick Son Goku. The Sailfish are a young expansion team fresh off of a playoff berth in their first year. With two aging corners from S15 and 17, they really do need a cornerback, but it is resolved with the next pick of theirs. The only other area that the Sailfish would need some help would be in the recieving corps. While not an outright bad pick, they have an S18 end in Steco Ocewilder who is still performing well, and with Son Goku taken in the first round, they didn't really need another defensive end. Unless he changes into a defensive tackle, this pick is not the best. Way too early grade: C-
Round 3 Pick 7
Sarasota Sailfish select Mikel Van Perkins Cornerback
With the 31st pick, the Sailfish select Mikel Van Perkins, cornerback from London. The Sailfish finally fill a big need here, with only one active corner on the roster in S15 Lucas Knight, their other corner is S17 Jordan Andrews, who has recently gone inactive. With two aging corners and one about to start facing serious regression, they select a great cornerback from a phenomenal London secondary that was filled with talent. The Sailfish are looking to contend and build, so picking up Van Perkins is a fantastic decision here to help solidify their secondary in the upcoming future. Way too early grade: A+
Round 3 Pick 8
Baltimore Hawks select Doug Howlett Wide Reciever
With the 32nd pick of the draft, the Hawks select Doug Howlett, wide reciever out of Tijuana. The Hawks have three active recievers at the moment, S18 Asher Quinn, S21 Chris Kross, and S22 Nick Kaepercolin. Needless to say, they are very well set at recievers at the moment. With a glaring hole at defensive end, they are in the unfortunate situation where there aren't really any more top talent defensive linemen left at this point in the draft. They made the choice of taking the best player still available that they could use, which would end up being Doug Howlett. Howlett is a fantastic prospect, and if they ever decide to run four recievers, he would be a fantastic piece in a pass heavy offense. Way too early grade: B-
Round 3 Pick 9
Arizona Outlaws select Rigby Raccoon Tight End
With the 33rd pick in the draft, the Outlaws select Rigby Raccoon, tight end out of Kansas City. The S22 draft was the deepest TE class in NSFL history. Jeffrey Phillips, Heath Evans, and James Angler were the top three in the class and are all starting in the NSFL this upcoming year, Daniel George, Donatello Arrabiata, and Von Hayes are all very good picks as well, and Clark Boyd was an insane sleeper pick. In the S23 draft, Rigby Raccoon is the only TE who was even close in comparison to anyone in the S22 draft. The best tight end in a class with only four of them, the Outlaws drafted him with one of their third round picks. With Heath Evans the year before also being drafted by the Outlaws, he will most likely sit behind him for a long time, but he could always step in at fullback if the Outlaws run offenses similar to the Otters or Second Line. While not really targeting any of the needs of the Outlaws, he is very active and could become a very talented tight end in the future. Way too early grade: B+
Round 3 Pick 10
Sarasota Sailfish select Running Back Runningback
With the 34th pick of the draft, the Sailfish select Running Back, runningback out of Tijuana. No you aren't halucinating or on shrooms, this guys name is Running Back, fittingly he is a runningback. The Sailfish are looking for game changers, and they belive that Running Back is the one for their franchise. While sharing carries with Richard Gilbert, he proved that he was good enough to be an eventual first option. The Sailfish already have Dax Frost, an S21 runningback who is developing into one of the leagues best runningbacks. Runningback has already been called up to the main roster, and will be the second option behind Frost. Not great not terrible. Way too early grade: 3.6 I mean B
Round 3 Pick 11
Arizona Outlaws select Reginald Covington III Quarterback
With the 35th pick of the draft, the Outlaws select Reginald Covington III, quarterback out of Kansas City. The one of only 2 quarterbacks in the draft, he is looking like he will be a legitimate quarterback once he develops in the DSFL for a few years. The Outlaws are currently fielding Jay Cue, a S18 quarterback who has been constantly developing, and will be seriously hurt by regression for a few more seasons. The Outlaws are looking to get their future franchise quarterback earlier rather than later, and while it might be a little too early with Cue's best years going on and coming up, when Cue hangs up the cleats, Covington should be developed into an incredible talent. Way too early grade: B+
Round 3 Pick 12
Austin Copperheads select N Videl-San Wide Reciever
With the 36th pick of the draft, the Copperheads select Videl-San, wide reciever out of Portland. An ex-GM, they should be a fantastic pick up due to experience right? So why the long time until being drafted? We dont talk about those dark times. But as a player, Videl is a fantastic wide reciever, easily one of the best in the draft, and should be a great talent for years to come. The Copperheads are doing well at reciever right now, but with S15 Rod Tidwell nearing the end of his career, they are looking to get younger at reciever. With S18s Net Gaines and S22s Eddie Jeeta both developing and becoming fantastic recievers, Videl will have to wait behind them for a few years before getting a chance to become the franchise player. Way too early grade: A-
After the third round, teams are less looking to fill roster spots, and are more looking to get the best available player, so I will try my best to keep my grading based off of that, instead of team needs.
Round 4 Pick 1
Austin Copperheads select Tomage McGullager Cornerback
With the 37th pick, the Copperheads select Tomage McGullager, cornerback out of Dallas. With S16 corner Dermot Lavelle Jr. about to hit regression, they need to start getting some younger faces in the secondary. With the young first pick of S22 Colt Mendoza still developing, they choose to pick up McGullager with the first pick of the fourth round. An ex tight end, he made the move to cornerback, just like Osiris Firestorm-Fjord. He might not be a top corner in the draft, but if he is given time to develop, he will be a huge piece of the copperhead secondary. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 2
Baltimore Hawks select Datsum Phastbawls Kicker
With the 38th pick of the draft, the Hawks select Datsum Phastbawls, kicker/punter out of London. With S16 kicker ForTheBrand in the twilight of his career, they are looking to secure a future kicker. Considered the best kicker in the draft, the Hawks are nabbing him while he is still available. Not the biggest or sexiest type of pick, a kicker is a very important position, and having a good one has effected more games than we would like to admit, so it is a smart pick, even though it is a boring one. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 3
Honolulu Hahalua select Tyrone Woods Linebacker
With the 39th pick of the draft, the Hahalua select Tyrone Woods, linebacker out of Myrtle Beach. With the only active linebackers on the Hahalua being S19s Mack Arianlacher and first rounds Heinrich Kackpoo, the Hahalua select Tyrone Woods. Woods is a fantastic player, and it is crazy that he was still available this late in the draft. The expansion franchise still has needs on both sides of the ball, and while they wont be bringing up Woods in his first season, he will definitely be able to make a difference if he keeps on developing. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 4
Chicago Butchers select Griffin Oberwald Wide Reciever
With the 40th pick of the draft, the Butchers select Griffin Oberwald, reciever out of Norfolk. Norfolk had 3 very good recievers get drafted this year, and Oberwald will be going straight up to the Butchers roster. The second reciever taken by the Butchers this draft, they are looking for some more playmakers at the reciever position. With George O'Donnells first year in the NSFL coming up, the Butchers are trying to make sure he isnt throwing the ball to mall figurines. This is a great pick and he should become a piece of a Butchers passing game that is starting to develop. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 5
Philadelphia Liberty select Karmichael Hunt Kicker
With the 41st pick of the draft, the Liberty select Karmichael Hunt, kicker out of Kansas City. With Lefty Louis going inactive recently, the Liberty are scrambling to get a replacement. Taking one of the top kickers in the draft, Hunt should be able to develop into a good kicker, and as I said earlier, a kicker is a very important part of your team, even if it isn't the sexiest position. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 6
San Jose Sabercats select Philip Stein Kicker
With the 42nd pick of the draft, the Sabercats select Philip Stein, kicker out of Minnesota. With the pick of Matthew McDairmid in S22, this pick confused me at first, and I was about to hand out the first F of the review, and then he changed position to safety. He instantly became one of the better safeties in the S23 draft. With the only other safety being S22s Brendan Lanier, this pick turned from a questionable one into an absolute steal. So as long as Philip Stein stays active and develops, this pick should be talked about as one of the steals in this years draft. Way too early grade: F -> A+
Round 4 Pick 7
Chicago Butchers select Eric Richards Linebacker
With the 43rd pick of the draft, the Butchers select Eric Richards, linebacker out of London. While being considered one of the top linebackers in the draft, he was never considered to be up there with the best of them. But this late in the draft, he is a phenomenal pick up, and now with a switch to safety, he will become a starter for a young Butchers secondary right away. The Butchers have been loading up on young talent the last two drafts, and now they seem to have filled all the positions they needed to. If Eric Richards continues to develop, the Butchers secondary could become one of the best secondaries in NSFL history. Way too early grade: A- -> A+
Round 4 Pick 8
New Orleans Second Line select Brock Bodenhamer Wide Reciever
With the 44th pick in the draft, the Second Line select Brock Bodenhamer, wide reciever out of Myrtle Beach. With S21 reciever Ed Barker and S22 reciever Blake Alexander being the only two active recievers, the Second Line are really hurting at the reciever position. Right away Brock Bodenhamer could have gotten called up onto their team. With more tpe than Alexander, he should have, but the Second Line seem comfortable having him develop for a year in the DSFL, while they use a run heavy offense. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 9
Chicago Butchers select Quanter Skrills Runningback
With the 45th pick of the draft, the Butchers select Quanter Skrills, runningback out of Norfolk. With Farley Hank close to retirement, the Butchers pick up a young runningback to get ready to replace the old Hank, and help ease the load of S22 runningback Julio Tirtawidjaja. The Butchers at this point have filled all the positions they need with young talent, so getting some backup help for runningback is a smart decision here, and Quanter Skrills is a great runningback to fill that position. He will go spend a year in the DSFL, but will surely get called up to the main roster soon. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 10
Yellowknife Wraiths select Braxton Sinclair Defensive Lineman
With the 46th pick of the draft, the Wraiths select Braxton Sinclair, defensive lineman out of Norfolk. With the aging Giannis Kroustis, they are looking to get younger, so they chose Sinclair. While not a top talent in this years draft, he still has time to develop. The Wraiths are going to send him to the DSFL for a year or so, and if he can develop, he should get the call up and join a line with studs like James Cho and Patrik Money, both S22 players. The Wraiths have a chance to develop a giant wall on the defensive side of the ball, it will depend on if Sinclair can develop. Way too early grade: A-
Round 4 Pick 11
Orange County Otters select Keynel McZeal Runningback
With the 47th pick of the draft, the Otters select Keynel McZeal, runningback out of Portland. With the runningbacks on the Otters being S15 Ludicolo Bigby and S22 Tatsu Nakamura, the Otters decided to pick someone up to get ready for Bigby to hang up the cleats. The Otters are in a situation where no pick is an awful pick, and they are picking someone to replace an old head on their team, so even with a young Tatsu Nakamura developing into a fine runningback, drafting McZeal here is a great choice. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 12
Colorado Yeti select Yuuto Kira Cloudera Defensive Lineman
With the 48th pick of the draft the Yeti select Yuuto Kira Cloudera, defensive lineman out of Dallas. With S17 Bubba Thumper and S22 Mo Magic leading the way, the Yeti's defensive line is set in stone for a few seasons. This does give Cloudera time to develop in the DSFL, and they seem to enjoy making graphics, so time will tell on if he can develop into a future Yeti. Way too early grade: A-
Round 5 Pick 1
Chicago Butchers select Brennan Kennedy Cornerback
With the 49th pick of the draft, the Butchers select Brennan Kennedy, cornerback out of Myrtle Beach. Out of all of the positions on the Butchers, cornerback is the deepest. With S21 Osiris Firestorm-Fjord, and S22 corners Tyle Oles Jr. and Tyron Shields, the Butchers are pretty well set on cornerbacks for the forseeable future. Brennan Kennedy was one of the better players still available, so he might end up developing into a stellar cornerback in the future. Way too early grade: B
Round 5 Pick 2
Baltimore Hawks select Dick Thunder Offensive Lineman
With the 50th pick of the draft, the Hawks select Dick Thunder, offensive lineman out of Minnesota. A rock solid choice here, taking an offensive lineman can be a hard choice. The stiff competition of the draft this year made his rigid performance stand upright compared to others firm on this list. He may be cocked for a long career, with offensive linemen becoming more elevated each year. Way too early grade: D
Round 5 Pick 3
Honolulu Hahalua select Blade McCoy Linebacker
With the 51st pick of the draft, the Hahalua select Blade McCoy, linebacker from Dallas. Its a little suprising to see him drop this low, he wasn't the best linebacker, but he had plenty of talent, and should be able to develop very well. The Hahalua are really looking to fill any position at this point, and with McCoy still being one of the best available players, the Hahalua made a fantastic selection here. Way too early grade: A+
Round 5 Pick 4
Chicago Butchers select Arik Eller Defensive Lineman
With the 52nd pick of the draft, the Butchers select Arik Eller, defensive lineman out of Dallas. While being a surprising pick at first, he is ready to work hard to make his way up to the Butchers roster. He might not be the best lineman in the draft, but there is plenty of potential for him to develop into a fabulous lineman on a young and hungry Butchers defense. Way too early pick: A
Round 5 Pick 5
Honolulu Hahalua select 3' Jeffrey Runningback
With the 53rd pick of the draft, the Hahalua select 3' Jeffrey, runningback out of Myrtle Beach. With Ruff Ruff on the way out, the Hahalua are looking to get some runningbacks to help their offense. An expansion team, they were not really given any great runningbacks to choose from, so they are looking to improve them in the draft. Jeffrey is a great pick up for them, and given time to develop in the DSFL, he could become that franchise runningback they so desperately need. Way too early grade: B+
Round 5 Pick 6
San Jose Sabercats select Mac Griddle Safety
With the 54th pick of the draft, the Sabercats select Mac Griddle, safety out of Kansas City. Personally I'm a basic sausage egg and cheese guy, but Mac Griddle is still very good. Makes for a good safety too, being a solid choice this late in the draft. The Sabercats have a desperate need at Safety right now, and while they have kicker turned safety Philip Stein, they decided to also pick up Mac Griddle. Its a little surprising to see him this low, he is a great talent to be picked this late in the draft, and he could develop into a solid safety in a few seasons. Way too early grade: A
Round 5 Pick 7
Sarasota Sailfish select Deonte Washington Wide Reciever
With the 55th pick of the draft, the Sailfish select Deonte Washington, reciever out of Kansas City. With the Sailfish still needing another reciever, Washington is a good pickup for the Sailfish's needs. While he is not a top end reciever, he is servicable, and still has time to develop into a more reliable target for a young Sailfish team. Way too early grade: B+
Round 5 Pick 8
New Orleans Second Line select Judas the White Defensive Lineman
With the 56th pick of the draft, the Second Line select Judas the White, defensive lineman out of Norfolk. The first inactive player drafted, they have not updated in over a month, and while I do not know the reason for it, it ruins the draft pick for the Second Line. Way too early grade: F
Round 5 Pick 9
Austin Copperheads select Mordecai Morrisey Defensive Lineman
With the 57th pick of the draft, the Copperheads select Mordecai Morrisey, defensive lineman out of Kansas City. Definitely not the best of the defensive lineman in the draft, Morrisey is still active, and should have plenty of time to develop in the DSFL. They still seem to be active, but with two players taken later in this draft both being a much better choice, I can't really give the Copperheads a good grade here. Way too early grade: D
Round 5 Pick 10
Yellowknife Wraiths select Joe Exotic Defensive Lineman
With the 58th pick of the draft, the Wraiths select Joe Exotic, defensive lineman out of Minnesota. This late in the draft, it is hard to really find people who are active and can develop. I believe that Joe Exotic might be one of those people. While he might be in jail because of that bitch Carole Baskin, he can use the weightrooms there to keep developing into a potential superstar. Don't worry, he will be able to recover from this. Way too early grade: A
Round 5 Pick 11
Orange County Otters select Danny King Runningback
With the 59th pick of the draft, the Otters select Danny King, runningback out of London. How in the world did he drop this low in the draft? He is active, has been improving constantly throughout the year, and was better than a few runningbacks taken ahead of him, so why such a large drop to where he is being taken after inactives? Who knows, the Otters get a phenomenal talent for a position they are trying to fill up soon, and Danny King gets to be drafted by the team with the most prestige in the NSFL. Way too early grade: A+
Round 5 Pick 12
Colorado Yeti select Omar Wright Jr. Linebacker
And finally, with the 60th pick of the draft, the Yeti select Omar Wright Jr, linebacker out of Portland. How in the world did they drop this low? They're active and developing, just like King taken right before him, and linebacker is usualy a position that every team can spend a pick on in a draft, so why did he drop to the end of the fifth? Either way, the champions can develop this linebacker to eventually make their roster, and as long as he can stay active, he should be a franchise player for years to come. Way too early grade: A+
And now for an update on a series I was trying to run during the S22 season, "DSFL Heros of the week". Towards the end of the S22 year, I was falling too far behind, and with work being work, I couldn't seem to find the time to make long posts and custom sigs for all of the players I chose. I finished a few sigs and started the base plan for the end of the year, but I just couldn't get myself to continue it. So for this new series I am going to try to make the load a little easier on myself, I am gonna switch it from sigs to football cards, and depending on how long the first few weeks take, I might do one for offense and defense each week. If you would like to see who the people I chose for the last few weeks of S22, I will link an album full of them all, most of them aren't that great, and some were still being worked on, but I'm gonna try this again this upcoming season and hopefully stay with it.

With the fourth pick, the Outlaws would bolster their young secondary by picking up DB Jadakiss. Jadakiss was a near max earner in the DSFL, and was considered one of the top safties in the draft, even with four or five other top tier safties. While there were other safeties with more tpe, he fills a big need for the Outlaws who are bringing him up to the NSFL immediately. With the other young pieces among the Outlaws defense, Jadakiss should be a fantastic piece to wrap up a solid looking young secondary. Way too early grade: A-
Round 1 Pick 5

With the seventh pick in the draft, and first of two in the first round, the Sarasota Sailfish select Son Goku, Defensive End from the Kansas City Coyotes. With back to back picks, it didn't matter too much where both picks played their position at since they were both basically picked at the same draft position, so with the first pick they selected Son Goku. With defensive line being a position of need for the Sailfish, they had no issue taking a top earner on the line and he should be a fantastic fit to help sure up that defensive line. Way too early grade: A+
Round 1 Pick 8

With pick 17, the Baltimore Hawks select CJ Riley, safety out of Portland. Picking up their GM's player, you can't really grade it. CJ Riley is immediatly called up to the Hawks roster, and will be a starter in the Hawks secondary. So even though it is a GM pick, it filled a position that they needed, and would have been a great pick even without him being GM. Way too early grade: GM Pick/A+
Round 2 Pick 6

With the 18th pick in the draft, San Jose selects Water Chestnut III, Defensive Lineman out of Minnesota. Another GM pick, he fills a huge hole in the Sabercats roster, being the best end on their team over S21 inactive? Chip Otle. Even with Chestnut being a GM, this was a fantastic pick. Way too early grade: GM Pick/A+
Round 2 Pick 7

With the 20th pick in the draft, the Hawks select Lesean Paris Crooks, cornerback out of London. The second cornerback taken in the draft, I was surprised he was not taken earlier. While he does not fill a need for the Hawks this year, the Hawks have an aging S15 corner in Quentin Sinclair, and an S18 corner Juan Marston, who seems to have stopped developing. So while they might not get production out of him right away, he will be a fantastic cornerback in the future as long as he keeps developing. Way too early grade: A+
Round 2 Pick 9

With the 21st pick in the draft, the Hahalua select Bane Ka'ana'ana, corner out of Tijuana. Another GM pick, if it was not a GM pick, it would recieve an A+ for the name alone. He will step into the expansion franchise in S24, and will replace S20 inactive Victor Moreno. So even with him being a GM pick, it was a fantastic choice to fill a team need. Way too early grade: GM Pick/A+
Round 2 Pick 10

With the 23rd pick of the draft, Orange County selects Carl Wheezer, defensive lineman out of Kansas City. Carl Wheezer is a fantastic player to pick up here, one of the best still available to be drafted, with only a slight asthma problem. The Orance County Otters are coming off of another phenomenal year, and they dont really have any holes on their team other than defensive end, so a conversion would make this pick one of the best in the draft. Even then, they always seem to end up being a top team, so its hard to judge them for any pick here. Way too early grade: A
Round 2 Pick 12

With the final pick of the second round, the Second Line select Adelie De Pengu, Linebacker out of Norfolk. The last GM pick of the second round, he will be spending a year in the DSFL before being called up. This users last created did not last very long in the league, so here is hoping he can last as long as Quenton Bode has lasted for the Second Line. Way too early grade: GM Pick
Round 3 Pick 1

With the 38th pick of the draft, the Hawks select Datsum Phastbawls, kicker/punter out of London. With S16 kicker ForTheBrand in the twilight of his career, they are looking to secure a future kicker. Considered the best kicker in the draft, the Hawks are nabbing him while he is still available. Not the biggest or sexiest type of pick, a kicker is a very important position, and having a good one has effected more games than we would like to admit, so it is a smart pick, even though it is a boring one. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 3

With the 41st pick of the draft, the Liberty select Karmichael Hunt, kicker out of Kansas City. With Lefty Louis going inactive recently, the Liberty are scrambling to get a replacement. Taking one of the top kickers in the draft, Hunt should be able to develop into a good kicker, and as I said earlier, a kicker is a very important part of your team, even if it isn't the sexiest position. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 6

With the 44th pick in the draft, the Second Line select Brock Bodenhamer, wide reciever out of Myrtle Beach. With S21 reciever Ed Barker and S22 reciever Blake Alexander being the only two active recievers, the Second Line are really hurting at the reciever position. Right away Brock Bodenhamer could have gotten called up onto their team. With more tpe than Alexander, he should have, but the Second Line seem comfortable having him develop for a year in the DSFL, while they use a run heavy offense. Way too early grade: A+
Round 4 Pick 9

With the 48th pick of the draft the Yeti select Yuuto Kira Cloudera, defensive lineman out of Dallas. With S17 Bubba Thumper and S22 Mo Magic leading the way, the Yeti's defensive line is set in stone for a few seasons. This does give Cloudera time to develop in the DSFL, and they seem to enjoy making graphics, so time will tell on if he can develop into a future Yeti. Way too early grade: A-
Round 5 Pick 1

With the 49th pick of the draft, the Butchers select Brennan Kennedy, cornerback out of Myrtle Beach. Out of all of the positions on the Butchers, cornerback is the deepest. With S21 Osiris Firestorm-Fjord, and S22 corners Tyle Oles Jr. and Tyron Shields, the Butchers are pretty well set on cornerbacks for the forseeable future. Brennan Kennedy was one of the better players still available, so he might end up developing into a stellar cornerback in the future. Way too early grade: B
Round 5 Pick 2

With the 50th pick of the draft, the Hawks select Dick Thunder, offensive lineman out of Minnesota. A rock solid choice here, taking an offensive lineman can be a hard choice. The stiff competition of the draft this year made his rigid performance stand upright compared to others firm on this list. He may be cocked for a long career, with offensive linemen becoming more elevated each year. Way too early grade: D
Round 5 Pick 3

With the 51st pick of the draft, the Hahalua select Blade McCoy, linebacker from Dallas. Its a little suprising to see him drop this low, he wasn't the best linebacker, but he had plenty of talent, and should be able to develop very well. The Hahalua are really looking to fill any position at this point, and with McCoy still being one of the best available players, the Hahalua made a fantastic selection here. Way too early grade: A+
Round 5 Pick 4

With the 52nd pick of the draft, the Butchers select Arik Eller, defensive lineman out of Dallas. While being a surprising pick at first, he is ready to work hard to make his way up to the Butchers roster. He might not be the best lineman in the draft, but there is plenty of potential for him to develop into a fabulous lineman on a young and hungry Butchers defense. Way too early pick: A
Round 5 Pick 5

With the 53rd pick of the draft, the Hahalua select 3' Jeffrey, runningback out of Myrtle Beach. With Ruff Ruff on the way out, the Hahalua are looking to get some runningbacks to help their offense. An expansion team, they were not really given any great runningbacks to choose from, so they are looking to improve them in the draft. Jeffrey is a great pick up for them, and given time to develop in the DSFL, he could become that franchise runningback they so desperately need. Way too early grade: B+
Round 5 Pick 6

With the 55th pick of the draft, the Sailfish select Deonte Washington, reciever out of Kansas City. With the Sailfish still needing another reciever, Washington is a good pickup for the Sailfish's needs. While he is not a top end reciever, he is servicable, and still has time to develop into a more reliable target for a young Sailfish team. Way too early grade: B+
Round 5 Pick 8

With the 56th pick of the draft, the Second Line select Judas the White, defensive lineman out of Norfolk. The first inactive player drafted, they have not updated in over a month, and while I do not know the reason for it, it ruins the draft pick for the Second Line. Way too early grade: F
Round 5 Pick 9

With the 57th pick of the draft, the Copperheads select Mordecai Morrisey, defensive lineman out of Kansas City. Definitely not the best of the defensive lineman in the draft, Morrisey is still active, and should have plenty of time to develop in the DSFL. They still seem to be active, but with two players taken later in this draft both being a much better choice, I can't really give the Copperheads a good grade here. Way too early grade: D
Round 5 Pick 10

With the 58th pick of the draft, the Wraiths select Joe Exotic, defensive lineman out of Minnesota. This late in the draft, it is hard to really find people who are active and can develop. I believe that Joe Exotic might be one of those people. While he might be in jail because of that bitch Carole Baskin, he can use the weightrooms there to keep developing into a potential superstar. Don't worry, he will be able to recover from this. Way too early grade: A
Round 5 Pick 11

With the 59th pick of the draft, the Otters select Danny King, runningback out of London. How in the world did he drop this low in the draft? He is active, has been improving constantly throughout the year, and was better than a few runningbacks taken ahead of him, so why such a large drop to where he is being taken after inactives? Who knows, the Otters get a phenomenal talent for a position they are trying to fill up soon, and Danny King gets to be drafted by the team with the most prestige in the NSFL. Way too early grade: A+
Round 5 Pick 12
