In an auditorium of a Houston, TX high school a wooden podium with that school's logo, a reformatted 80s Denver Broncos D with a horse bucking through it, sits in the middle of the stage. A slender African American man walks out wearing a tan suit with a burgundy tie and pocket square and approaches the podium.
"Thank you all for coming here today. My client will be out in just a moment. I've known him for only a few years, but he's grown tremendously since the day I met him. I went up there to meet this kid, it was a terrible wet December day in New York. The day before, his team had lost it's 4th straight game. I expected him to be in a foul mood, but he was the opposite. The biggest thing I took away from that day was that he just loved playing the game. Win or lose. After coaching him for a couple years, helping him transition from receiver to DB, he's maintained that same glow and love for the sport. I'm proud to present to you, the newest member of the Orange County Otters, Marc Spector!"
From the left hand side of the stage, Marc Spector emerges from the darkness and waves at everyone. He's wearing an Otters cap and smiling from ear to ear. He shakes hands and half hugs the man at the podium before the man takes a couple steps back so Marc can take the microphone.
"David Rollis, everyone. He's my mentor, coach at Rice and now he's my agent. I wouldn't be here without this man. Thank you so much for everything you've done, Dave. You're really the best."
He then looks down at the crowd, smirks and behind to talk again.
"Thank you all for coming, I truly appreciate it. As you all know by now, I've been selected in the fourth round of the NSFL Draft by the Orange County Otters. I'm here to take any and all questions before I hop on my flight to Los Angeles."
