Not Ithica - so not the BEST resource to answer this - but basically he wrote an algorithm that does it. Essentially we've coopted and modified the elo project he was working on a few seasons ago. We've calibrated it so the stocks move pretty well - you can gain/lose in the realm of 10-15% per week, sometimes more or less in extreme situations.

Do stocks carry between seasons?

As of now, yes. We're still working on the system for how that'll work so keep in mind this is a work progress. There are a lot of options on how to do that on the table.
