Welcome fellow investors, to S26 of the International Simulation Football League stock market.
The stock market is simple. You can invest some of your hard earned money in buying stocks for each of the teams in the ISFL. The value of the stocks is determined through an algorithm developed and tested by the Casino. The value of your shares can go up or down depending on team performance, or based on how many shares are currently owned. Not only is it possible to increase your investment you could also lose money if you invest poorly.
Stock Market
The ISFL stock market works as follows:
You post in this market thread with how many shares of what team(s) you wish to purchase (e.g. 15 Chicago Butchers shares)
So long as the market is open your transaction will be processed if you have the available balance and your shares added to your account in the ledger.
You can sell at any time the market is open.
You may mix stocks. e.g. buying 4 Otters and 10 Chicago
You may buy and sell shares in the same transaction.
The market closes 1 hour before simulation start time. No shares may be bought/sold until the market re-opens. Any requests between the bells will be processed with the updated prices when the market re-opens. For Simmers, Streamers, HO and Casino staff, the market shuts 3 hours prior to simulation start time.
There is a 10% market tax on all SALES made from selling shares back to the casino and 5% on auctioning to other players. Further sale rules can be found in the Stock sale subforum. Contact @Duilio05 for auction sales. Put sales to casino in this thread.
Over this past offseason, some potential loopholes with the stock system were identified, there is an update to the stock calculation as well. Whereas the prior system sometimes had drastic increases in the valuation of a stock after a purchase, the amount that any given stock transaction can impact the valuation is now limited.
This is through what we’ve called ‘elasticity.’ Essentially depending on how many shares of a team is held a stock can only increase or decrease by so much after a purchase or sale. The stock will still eventually become its new valuation, based on the team’s sim performance and its shares held by the league, but where before it would immediately jump to that new value, it is now delayed in how quickly it increases or decreases.
The transaction-impacted valuations are adjusted after every game week, allowing for them to go up further or down lower, depending on the transactions that have occurred.
I'd like to thank @wonderful_art for his work on this improvement.
