I think 2021 will be a year of a lot of change for the league. With the new sim comes a lot of new strategies and playbooks.I personally think the new sim will be a bit problematic at first due to the fact that testers and players have to get used to the way the new sim works. But as we get used to it we will see which testers will flourish in this environment and which will fall. I also see that the new attributes will bring new excitement to the league and hopefully new ways to build players and I can't wait to see how the veteran recreates use that to their advantage.

In terms of how the new sim will play out during games, I hope thier will be less sim craziness. I do think actually being able to see where the ball is going when its passed will help a lot with quarterback testing. So many times I have seen quarterbacks not throw to wide open receivers and I also see quarterbacks magically throw the ball to a receiver i didn't even see that is streaking down the field. Being able to see the ball going to the receiver will hopefully clear up this pet peeve of mine.

With the new year will come a huge transition for the league, as we switch sims to DDSPF 21. Overall I am pretty excited for the transition, for a few reasons. One, the new archetypes are seemingly designed to help balance out positions. So rather than there being a "best" archetype that everyone flocks towards, player building could be more customized for personal tastes. This should help players feel more invested in how they choose to build their player rather than just following a pre-set path. Hopefully this leads to a more engaging experience for users. The other big change that I think will be interesting is the supposed difficulty in sim testing. There has been an explosion in the volume and quality of sim testing over the past 5 or so seasons due to efforts made by some of our smartest users. This, coupled with the decompiling of the sim, has lead to what has felt like a drain on the fun of gameplanning. We know what works and why, so what reason is there for anything else? Not to mention sim testing is time consuming and has probably lead to burn out of some of our best users. However, in the new sim, testing is apparently much more difficult. Hopefully this leads to more emphasis on creative strategies and more of a focus on team building over focusing on a few percentage points.

The 2021 season will bring in store a major change within the league: the first talking badger from the world of Foon. That's right baby, it's Chunt the talking badger. I'm thrilled to be here in the league and partake in the larger draft class. After eating one too many spiced potatoes one night, I had a vision of myself dominating the game. One thing most beings from Earth fail to realize is the pure, unadulterated speed we Badgers have. Along with that, our big meaty paws are used to catching some big meaty clackers due to everyones attraction because of our two buttholes. I'll be able to catch any ball and scurry to gain yards. Foon is also home to the Foon Mittens League, a very similar sport I played during college. I have a plethora of experience and am extremely excited to join this league. One major thing I noticed with the inclusion of animals, such as myself, will additionally bring more diversity to this league. Growing up, my father, the hunger ghost, always told me there was not a place in Foon or other realms for a talking shapeshifter with the preference of being a badger; so I told him to shove it and found my place in this league.

While I'm excited at the prospect of a new sim and some of the things that will come along with it (like traits and stuff are super cool) to hopefully make the league more exciting, I can't say I'm a fan of the changes that come with it to make the TPE grind harder. As a max earner, it bothers me a little bit that the scale has been adjusted so that, even max earning, it's going to be a huge grind to really max anything at all in time for it to mean anything for my player's career. By the time she gets to a point where she'll be legendary, it'll be regression time.. and in my mind that kind of defeats the purpose of max earning. I'm hoping that, going forward into 2021 they adjust regression in such a way that it doesn't immediately hit you like at truck so you can actually enjoy some of your player's success and the work you did to get them there beyond just one glorious season.

Think the TPE scale will need further adjusting going into 2021 depending on how things go with the sim. I already see it being a bit of a slog for max earners, but I think this could be even more problematic for our more casual earners going forward, as I could see some losing interest in the league as ability to get into the ISFL as a viable player grows more difficult with a more grindy scale. Fingers crossed the league grows, though, as I really do enjoy it and look forward to what 2021 has to offer.

I think the change in sim engines will provide an overall growth acorss the board for the league. The main crux is that no one will have any early advantages in sim engine manipulations, and even then, the sim test team has worked meticulously to ensure that no one specific build or roster construct will dominate for months on end. Therefore, you'll see several General Managers alleviated from having to have a tirelessly working war room searching for glitches and bugs. Likewise, you'll see that old guard start to step aside and actually enjoy the sim and league for the entertainment and not the manifested toxic competitiveness that has taken over. We've already seen some big figures step out of the foreground to allow fresher talent eagerly waiting to bid their time and pay their dues keeping the league on an upswing. 

The eager to re-create has been rising as well since there should be no dominant build anymore. No more overreliance on Game Managers, Speed anything, or unbalanced Balanced builds should allow more creativity and freedom for users to build how they want to ad not how they have to. I for one cannot wait to see more diverse player builds and archetypes alike. Hopefully we see an uptick in offensive and defensive linemen who are just as important as everyone else. The change in archetypes and playbooks should also bring a true random aspect to the games as teams no longer will share a general trend of the same weaknesses and strengths and will not primarily run the same schemes on offense and defense(Spread 70, Power 30, Nickel 35).

Hopefully the new trend is that the most active or most human team wins more. As for the new archetypes and traits, this seems to favor relatively younger teams that are entering prime years. So teams loaded with S22-S24 players will be the first to show off how fully maxed players look. The younger cores like New York, Berlin, Yellowknife will be able to watch how teams like Austin, Arizona, Orange County, and Chicago utilize their max players before fine tuning their guys. The older cores like Colorado, New Orleans, Philly, Sarasota might have had any miracle runs cut short with so many key players either in regression or not built up enough to compete against igher earning players in the same draft class windows.

As a side effect, I hope more users decide to choose less popular positions and see their real value. Because if people shift away from offensive skill positions, it could allow for a DSFL expansion so more people actually stay down and focus on building their TPE, building their bank, and getting that equipment and those traits before coming into the even hotter ISFL rookie fire.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy. A whole new year has come. After the absolute dumpster fire that was 2020, I can only hope that 2021 gives us an inkling of hope towards the already very bleak future. But since it probably won't, let's just talk about the new year's implications on this league. For starters, S27 will see a long-desired change in sim engines for the ISFL. With this comes new builds and bountiful opportunities for new metas to be created. Honestly, I'm loving this period of time right now. Back when PBE changed builds a few seasons ago, nobody knew what the new meta was. After many many seasons of Balanced being the meta, the PBE now has multiple builds that can be very effective in their own ways (except The Cannon, yet all the new creates keep picking it). Now I'm not saying that I'm going to be actively seeking out the meta, but I am already theorizing about the new builds. I'm thinking of going coverage LB but the caps on it are kinda donk. Speed rusher LB has the best caps but it doesn't have the "Perceptive" trait which I really want. I still have no clue whether or not traits are worth a damn but I'm sure we'll find out. There are many questions still roaming around as we head towards the 27th season of issfull football. I hope it's a good one. I really hope I can finally accomplish something worth a damn.

I don't know very much about the ISFL nor am I a particularly good fortune teller, however I can say a few subjective statements that I would very much like to come true. Next season I would love to see KCC bounce back. We've had a really rough season and can't seem to win even the admittedly few close games we're in. Last night case in point. We were so close but ultimately couldn't convert, and a couple of costly turnovers sealed our fate. On the risk of jinxing us for next season, I don't really know if anyone can do worse than a 1 win game. Hopefully we'll at least double our win total, maybe even triple it! In all seriousness, I have confidence in our GMs and as far as I know much of our talent that is currently here will stay here. I'm unsure if our QB will be leaving but I'm assuming LBG is. Presumably everyone else though will stay; that's my hope at least. With a strong returning class in addition to the talent we pick up in the draft, I think we can compete much more than we did this year. That Xander/Watts/Farley train will continue to choo choo right down that track; smells like wins to me!
