It was the weirdest phone call. The biggest name in hollywood (Mr. Producer Man) called my phone number, not even my agent. Told me he wanted me he wanted me to come star in his new movie about a dystopian Nigerian civil war. I guess the plot involves two Nigerian princes fighting over inheritance or something? Anyway, my role was supposed to be some intimidating action-hero mercenary guy. They wanted someone buff so they Mr. Producer Man reached out to his favorite football player (woulda thunk I have a fan?). Anyway, he just needed me to transfer him $750,000 to clear the paperwork, visas, and all that junk. Pay for the film is, like, 20 times that so even if that transfer is a scam I’ll still make a huge profit! Way easier than tweeting for a week for that money. So ya, I think I’m gunna do it. Probably won’t even bother getting ahold of my agent. Might as well take care of the no-brainer stuff like this film deal myself.
Two weeks later…
So here’s the thing. It didn’t quite occur to me that if it does happen to be a scam, I probably wouldn’t star in or get paid for the movie. I wired the money two weeks ago. Starting to think I got scammed.
