Hi All! I thought I would introduce myself with a media piece flavoured with me. I am told that the best time to create is at Trade Dead Line, so I will just prep my bank account in the meantime and while I can do so with a 2x claim for double media.
What better way to learn about a new league than to read through the teams and learn all about them and do the dreaded discussion of colours, towns and logos. who knows, I may decide to rank them at the end.
To start, I'm going to go down the list and talk about them in no particular order. So without much ado I'll start with the top of the Northern Football Conference as its listed first.
Kansas City Coyotes
I really like idea of a menacing canine, the coyote, with the tones of the purple and yellow of the moon to really chill it out. I love how it's broken up with the mountains in the background. I love how it is reminiscent of the original, how it keeps the same idea but just modernises it. I also heard this guy called @.simomade it? Top bloke. I've seen some of his work in PBE, its astounding. It kinda has a little bit of a phallic resemblance, but I don't know. The GMs - @frazzle14 a fellow teammate in the Pro Baseball Experience on Outer Banks Aviators. He is a great guy and I really like fielding along side of him. And the best voice in all of sim leagues @WhatAmUs. I was walking past Simo's computer one day, oh yea, we are married, and heard that voice. A bit later we did a podcast for double media over there. Anyway, great GMs, would be a pleasure to play for them.
London Royals
Uhhh what on earth is there to not say about this logo? It is sleek, smooth, ferocious and just stunning! The complimentary colours of the grey and gold, even the slight inverse of the colouring in each side of the mane, it is all just balanced really well. Look, Lion King is a favourite in our household at the moment. Our daughter saw this image and said 'Ooooo, Look! Daddy Roar! Lion'. Kids movies aside, not quite yet aside, as great as Lion King is, this logo just looks so much better. It embodies everything a royal should. And I guess that's also what the designer thought. Now onto the GMs, @katarn22 and @slate. I've only ever heard really good names about these users and GMs in the league. Also, biggest point to note, I love the fact that it is an international league.
Minnesota Grey Ducks
In real life, birds freak me out. Like the are one of the scariest things on the planet - and I am an Aussie - surely that is saying something about birds. Ducks are really no different. I was wondering what the close up of this logo was going to look like. Turns out it is the scariest duck I have ever seen! Why is it frowning? Why is it about to attack me? It is as terrifying as a goose. I didn't know that a duck could frown. Side note: why do all the logos so far include a shade of grey? Surely people understand a fear of birds, right? And onto the GMs - I have had a conversation about meat pies with @RussDrivesTheBus in the Berlin General Chat but unfortunately I have not had a chance to hear about @Crodyman, one day soon.
Portland Pythons
Finding this logo was hard. I was about to write an entire article about a poop snake around a navigational star. But at least I can move on and talk about the green python that is still around a star. Out of all the DSFL teams, this is the only team that incorporates a football in the logo. I know it is not an overly big deal but I think it sets them a part in a cool way! Let's finish with the GMs - @zeagle1 and @Hordle. I know both these players are in the PBE too, Dynamos and Kingpins respectively, but I haven't had a huge amount to converse with them. Once again, like Coyotes, huge names in the ISFL.
And onto the Southern Football Conference. Another side note: I like how the conferences are the opposite directions to the PBE, hopefully it makes it easy to remember.
Bondi Beach Buccaneers
Okay, so if I'm married to Simo, I'm obviously Australian. Do I also like that Australia has representation in the DSFL? Hell yeah! This pirate, or buccaneer is the stuff that Captain Jack Sparrow wished he looked like - and probably also the fear of death that creeps in you if you stare at it long enough. The GMs - so this will be the second time that I write about @NicholasTheGreat without ever actually knowing about him, I included Buckley in an article I wrote for the PBE - and just now I find out he uses the same name here - genuis! Two leagues, one name! As I've been thinking about my player creation a name is the hardest thing to come up with. Maybe Tex Catcher? #iykyk haha, I swear I'm not that cringe-y in real life/in a locker room. And I have had nothing to do with and know nothing about @UberBJ but in time I know that will change.
Dallas Birddogs
O birddogs - one type of Birddog is a cocker spaniel - and I have one, well we. We have one. His name is Alfie so my natural consequence, the birddogs will always be a great logo in the DSFL. I love the yellow and blue - looks vey spoty to me but also maybe like the colours of a school uniform. The little caviller spaniel - adorable - and Minnesota Ducks, watch out, this dog is coming for you with its teeth bearing and eyes locked on the goal. Is there any significance that in the two leagues I'm in that both Dallas teams incorporate the D in the logo? I'm probably missing something, but I'm Australian and know very little about Dallas in general. I was going to make a bit of a big deal about yellow in half the team colours - but uh, that would be rich coming from me as half the teams in the MiLPBE also use yellow. Maybe it is just a good colour that shows up against the green of the field? The GMs? Two users, @r0tzbua and @ZootTX, that I have heard nothing about - which does by any means they are bad GMs, my own PBE GM won a ring with the team, I'm just new.
Tijuana Luchadores
This grey and red logo of a wrestler is very scary. Imagine facing a row of player with this character plus their entire defensive line staring you down. Well I assume they are staring me down, I can't exactly follow theirs eyes with that mask. This guy means business. The colours of Tijuana even is so well put together and balanced that if all is seen, not one part of the logo is hidden or take to long to reveal - a true graphics master at wok there one well put together piece at a quick glance, but also so many details to be able to get once you stare long enough. Now, the GMS, @GuitarMaster116 and @Kotasa, once again, these users are active in the PBE - well at the time of writing this piece anyway and of course but I don't imagine that changing going forwards. What I do hope is that I will be able to meet them in the not too distant future.
EDITED TO ADD:
Norfolk SeaWolves
This logo takes me back to being 12 and having my uncle show the family a long powerpoint presentation of his job on a submarine. I will not allow that to taint my view on this logo, what I will allow to taint is, is how I loved playing battleships with my younger brother and always winning. I love how it is very different to every other logo. It's not an animal or person. I love the dark tones, I love the navigational mapping background. I love that it has the lighter foaming splashes around it that shows its coming out from the depths to attack. As for the GMs - @xQCFamous and @TMosura - I have had no interaction with them and that will need to be corrected. I am sure they are great people though.
So now that I have got to the end of my description and take of these logos I have decided that I will rate them. Please do not take this as draft media of where I would like to end up. I'm just learning about the league, navigating the wiki and forum and earning some of that sweet cash money to help with equipment (cough cough max earner cough I'm trying cough cough cough, yes I know I should go see a doctor as it doesn't sound good, I'll finish up here and go).
So the list:
1 London Royals
2 Dallas Birddogs
3 Kansas City Coyotes
4 Bondi Beach Buccaneers
5 Portland Pythons
6 Norfolk Seawolves
7 Tijuana Luchadores
8 Minnesota Grey Ducks (nothing against you, just against ducks)
If you got this far, thanks for sticking around and I hope to meet you soon.
