Ever since season 1, there has been regulated Offensive Line bots who have taken the place of real users in the NSFL. This was obviously the correct decision to be made, as there were not a lot of people too keen on being a user lineman in a sim league, where stats are basically the only metric of performance. With 8 teams in the league, and 5 offensive line positions on each of the teams, that would mean there would have to be 40 offensive lineman in the league.
![[Image: ReeR3cD.png]](https://i.imgur.com/ReeR3cD.png)
Based on the numbers of the last 10 or so Activity Checks, being an average of about 120, that would mean that in order to fill the roles of each starting Offensive Line position, there would need to be a 33% increase of users in the league. Currently, there are 6 starting Offensive players per team, and 11 starting defensive players per team, plus a kicker/punter. At 18 players per team, for 8 teams, that comes out to 144 starting spots for the whole league. Based on these numbers, we are coming somewhat close to filling all of the starting spots on each team, obviously with still a little bit of room to work with.
So what does this mean for Offensive Lineman? Currently there is no need for players to fill the role of offensive line, but what if there were at least a few offensive lineman users in the league? This would open up more starting roles on teams, likely defensive position, that DSFL players could easily fill coming out of the draft. Now, I'm not saying that we should do away with Offensive Lineman bots all together and start trying to fill each OL position with user players, but currently there is barely an option to even create as an Offensive Lineman.

If we look at the Lineman bots that can be purchased by teams, we can see that the TPE at which OL are set at range from 50 tpe to 750 tpe. But, looking at the bots being purchased from this season so far, most of them are the third tier bots, at a price of 4.5m.
So lets say someone wants to create as an Offensive Lineman, and start in the NSFL. What would this player have to do to earn a starting role? In order for this player to have any beneficial impact at all to the team, they would have to have at least 550 TPE. This is about 3-4 seasons worth of TPE for even the highest of earners. In my personal opinion, I think that 3-4 seasons is too long of a time to have to earn TPE to be of any value at all to a team. Now you might say, well obviously a 300 TPE player on a defensive position isn't of too much value either, and I would somewhat agree, but there is not an option for a team to purchase a 300 TPE bot to play on defense either.
Now lets say that this hypothetical Offensive Lineman player reached the milestone of 750 TPE, and is taking a salary of 4m per year for arguments sake. This would be saving the team a grand total of three million dollars. This is where the main problem lies in the fight between a user lineman and a bot lineman. For someone to earn TPE for about 5 seasons and the only benefit to the team is that they are saving their team 3 million total on their yearly budget is insane. A player at 750 TPE should be an impact player on the team and serve a key role. This right here is enough to discourage even the biggest OL fans to steer away from creating as an offensive lineman. The reward is literally non-existent. Fast forward to the players final years before regression. The lineman user has finally hit 1000 TPE after seasons and seasons of earning TPE. How much more of a difference would a 1000 TPE lineman make compared to a 750 TPE bot. Probably not much, definitely not 6-8 seasons worth of earning TPE. And then we hit regression, and the user is falling below the TPE of the lineman bots once more.
We also can heavily assume that not every team will be able to fill their offensive line spots, so the OL bot system we have in place will need to stay. Also, I understand that lots of testing has been done to balance the Offensive Line and the Defensive line, so that we can keep rushing numbers and sack numbers somewhat realistic.
At this point, maybe I've convinced you all that user lineman are of no use to the league at this time, maybe some of you have taken the view of "who the hell cares, they're just lineman". Yeah well screw you, lineman are people too okay? But in all seriousness, anyone who has watched or played football for years like I have will tell you that the Offensive Line is the most important positional group on the team. More important than your linebacking corp, more important than your defensive lineman, and more important than your runningbacks. A team with a crappy offensive line can't control the run game, the quarterbacks are stuck to three step drop backs, and you're putting your most important player on the team in danger on every play. That being said, I think that at the VERY LEAST, we should have a route where if someone wants to play as an offensive lineman, and is willing to realize that they probably arent going to see any stats other than pancakes on the index, we should give them the option to.
My Proposal
So let's pin point the reason that players are discouraged to ever create as a lineman. In my opinion, it's the TPE differential between a high-earning player and the OL bots available to purchase.
How do we change this?
I think that the easiest solution, is to award user Offensive Lineman a "Positional TPE Boost". This TPE would be a one time boost to the players player page, and obviously would not be carried over if the player decided to change positions. This TPE would almost be "invisible", and not be shown on a players total TPE. This TPE should also not be subject to regression, so keeping it separate from the TPE that the player has earned should be necessary. I've written up a Player Page on what I personally think it should look like.

This boost would allow user OL to match the TPE value of a 550 TPE bot at 350 TPE earned, which is about their second season, as opposed to their 4 season to reach 550 tpe. Same goes for matching the value of the 750 TPE bot at 550 TPE earned, which is usually about the players 3rd-4th season as opposed to their 6th-7th season. Finally, lets say that user reached 1000 TPE earned near the end of their career. The difference between a 1200 TPE build and a 750 TPE build in my opinion would actually be worth the 7-8 seasons of grinding out TPE, and I think some GMs would agree.
Let me throw this at you too, Offensive Lineman have a waaaaay higher TPE ceiling than most other positions. For example, a Defensive lineman can max out most of their useful stats around 700-800 TPE, Whereas an Offensive Lineman would need to be closer to 1500 TPE.
GIVE FREEDOM BACK TO THE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN!
@Alkaiid Shout out to my boy who created as an Olineman even with the system in place, balls of steel on my fellow Luchadore.
EDIT: so to sum up this whole situation, it's like if you go to a car dealership, and you're looking to buy a car. They try and sell you a truck instead but you kindve would've rathered a car for the mileage and cost. But then the dealer tells you, nah were not gonna sell you the car, plus, the truck is the same price and it's actually the exact same on gas. There's no reason to buy the car, either buy our truck or get out. I forgot an analogy for this so I figured I'd throw it in here for more money
