What a game for Ryan Leaf Jr and the Pacific Owls offense. Leaf Jr played the best game of the prospect bowl season so far putting up a 80.6% completion percentage. Leaf Jr completed 25 of 31 passes for 233 yards. The more impressive part of Leaf Jr's performance was the ability to persevere from getting sacked 5 times. The Owls had an impressive run game as well. Running back Ludicolo Bigby ran for 111 yards and reaching pay dirt 2 times. The Legion of Hoot once again proving they are one of the best defenses in the nation by limiting the dual quarterback attack of the Blackbirds. The LOH held Apollo Lange and TJ Hendrix to 100 hundred yards a piece. Free safety Proy Trolamalu and Strong saftey Richard D'Attoria V both had an interception each. The Legion of Hoot was not just frustrating the pair of quarterbacks in the secondary but in the backfield as well. Mo Berry, Memphis Wilkerson, Tony Gabagool, Richard D'Attoria V, and Jack Rambo all found their way to the quarterback at the hands of Sag Bobbit's full frontal attack. The back and forth game down to the fourth quarter where defensive stuff Rock Hardshaft was able to slip through the porous offensive line and bring Leaf Jr down in the end zone for a saftey putting the Blackbirds up by 2 with 8 minutes remaining. The Legion of Hoot knew they needed to to get the ball back for Leaf Jr and the offense to try and take the game back. That is when D'Attoria V was able to pick off Lange. Leaf Jr was able to dink and dunk his way to the end zone by throwing a pass to each of his receivers to eventually find Dashawn Jackson for a touchdown with about four minutes left. The Blackbirds moved to midfield looking to make a last minute score. Fourth and Five Mo Berry had a sticky coverage and was able to bath the ball down to seal the game up for the Owls. Post game press conference caught up with Mo Berry. I asked him about his clutch defensive play. "Honestly I just felt that we we're set up in a good play. The Secondary had everyone locked down so they thought could get one over on me but we all saw that wasn't the case, but let's not talk about me have you seen Rich(ard D'Attoria V) player he gonna be the defensive player of the year." Berry claimed. The Owls look to continue their win streak next week against the Wolfpack.
