So I decided to do a quick revisit on defensive ends and how they’re performing.
The biggest takeaways after more games in the books is the Hawks defensive ends are still struggling, Varga’s performance is below where he should be based on his attributes so I’d expect his stats to increase, and Tomlinson’s extremely unlucky streak with no sacks came to an end.

The other big takeaway is that speed should probably be weighted higher than strength. In the cases where two DEs of like TPE are compared, the one with more speed has better stats. Tomlinson vs. Wozy, 80 speed vs 72 speed, Tomlinson has 3 more impact plays. Thor vs. Spearhead, 70 vs 73 speed, Spearhead has 10 more impact plays. Blade vs. Teagarden vs. Crocker, 74 vs 70 vs 70 speed, and Blade has 13 impact plays vs 7 and 10 for Crocker.
As positions approach their caps for attributes, which frankly seems too easy for some positions and attributes, I wouldn’t be surprised to see speed rushers at the defensive end position rise to the top of the pile. The sim seems to be quite fluky though, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out. In the future it might be interesting to do a breakdown by the archetype of each defensive end.
