There are three different scenarios for how the NSFC will play out as far as playoff implications goes. It'll either be the Wraiths/Yeti, Yeti/Hawks, or Hawks/Wraiths that will be the two teams that will represent the top dogs of the NSFC.
How the schedule came out like this, I'm not 100% sure. Needless to say, it all comes down to this, The Yellowknife Wraiths and the Baltimore Hawks will be getting very familiar with each other. The schedule has the two teams going at it four straight times to round out the remainder of the divisional games for both teams.
The Yeti currently has five conference wins and a solid grip onto the top seed. The Wraiths are currently in the second seed that will ensure them a playoff berth but they cannot take their foot off the pedal. The Hawks are right on their heels and a streak of wins out of the four can have them leapfrog their rivals.
Here we are going to talk about some of the big headlines going into the Hawks/Wraiths duel for supremacy.
----------------------------
The Wraiths Didn't Forget.
They say Preseason doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. However, it was still an eye opener to the Wraiths that the Hawks are a force to be reckoned with on offense. Scrub Kyubee put some of the defensive woes for the Wraiths on blast, throwing for four TDs, over 300 yards passing, and almost an 80% completion rate in about as perfect a QB played so far in the NSFL (147.5).
Let's not forget Kyubee's main targets, Damien West & Cooper Christmas, who combined for over 200 yards receiving and two TDs. Long story short, the Hawks are nowhere near short on the offensive side of the field. It's going to be up to the Wraiths CB duo of Dirk Cutter and Dermot Lavelle to hold down the fort so the second best team in sacks can keep Kyubee off balance.
Rivals Reunite Again!
A lot of people wondered who was the better TE between Gabriel Tenzini and Ricky Maddox. Two different styles of Tight Ends but both have been equally effective. Stats wise, the clear edge goes to Gabriel Tenzini, as he's ahead of Maddox in four of the seven categories.
Both Tight Ends are in the upper echelon of the position and this matchup can show if one or both of them are worthy of being an All Pro Tight End for the Inaugural Season of the NSFL.
"Gabe has been the model of consistency so far, but I'm gunning for him and [Break] Bottles. I know for a fact that I put the most work in and it's gonna show when our teams face. You can count on it."
-Ricky Maddox
TIght End (Yellowknife Wraiths)
If there was a Pro Bowl this year, it would be clear that the Tight End position is essentially locked for the NSFC side. Let's see which will come up with the bragging rights between Maddox and Tenzini.
Waiver Wire/Trade Deadline Movements
There's been an influx of players adding their names in the Waiver Wire pool and preparing themselves for the upcoming NSFL Draft. Along with that, there's been a player that has found himself a new home in Baltimore. The Hawks and Wraiths will be wondering what these players will bring to the table, let's get an in-depth analysis of these players.
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Yellowknife Wraiths:[/div]
Ben Green • Defensive Tackle • Liberty
The former Liberty Alum will be doing his best to make a name for himself for the remainder of the season for the Yellowknife Wraiths.
Standing at a hefty 6'4 and 345lbs, he's ready to leave the opposing Offensive Line in flames. Described by most as a pure run stuffer, it'll be interesting to see how he fits into an already stacked Defensive Line.
Needless to say, this is a great pickup for the Wraiths and his impact can only make the defense better with his presence. This pickup enables the team much more flexibility and it remains to be seen where he'll be in the line.
He has a lot of strong players ahead of him to help his development,. With two of the best DTs in the NSFL, Mark Ramrio and Trent Bender. Alongside one of the more consistent Defensive Ends in Tyler Varga, Green will feel right at home.
James Lillico • Safety • Tennessee
One of the more questionable positions after the Inaugural Draft for the Wraiths was the last line of defense. The Safety position has been inconsistent up until this point and this has to be a waiver wire pickup that has the GM and coaches smiling.
The London native volunteered in assisting the Wraiths secondary to lift it to heights it wasn't achievable before his arrival. My guess is that he'll take the place of Pablo Sanchez, who hasn't exactly been the gym rat the Wraiths needed him to be, if you catch my drift.
Lillico plans on being the Kam Chancellor of the defense and he has all of the opportunity to do so. The secondary got a tremendous boost with his addition. Dirk Cutter, Alex Hanson, and Dermot Lavelle will have no problems with building up his development.
Jesse Sanderson • Tight End • University of California, Santa Cruz
Some would say that the Wraiths already have the best TE duo in the league before this signing. Rolf Larsendorf and Ricky Maddox has held down the fort up until this part of the year. With this signing, the best TE trio this year is no longer in question.
The Missouri native is ready to make a name for himself for the Wraiths, standing 6'6 tall and 255lbs, it's crazy to think that the Wraiths now have two TEs looking down at opposing linebackers. He's has the golden gloves, so to speak, a pass catcher and another weapon Chris Orosz will be happy to pass to.
Ricky Maddox is the clear #1 Tight End for the Wraiths but he's made it known that he plans on showing him the ropes from day one. Is there a better person that can help mold Sanderson into an elite talent at the TE position? I don't think so.
[div align=\\\"center\\\"]Baltimore Hawks:[/div]
Isaiah McGinn • Safety • Michigan
It's pretty apparent that the Hawks could use help in their secondary as well, currently listed as the worst team in the league when it comes to points allowed and second to last when it comes to passing yards a game.
It's weird to say that, the secondary for the Hawks has so many playmakers worthy players as is. They hold the top spot when it comes to interceptions. With Sunday Showcase and Devin Speed, they should have no issues breaking in McGinn.
It's also worth noting that both Sunday Showcase and Isaiah McGinn both attended the University of Michigan, so the chemistry should be nothing short of a reawakening for the two of them.
McGinn plans on being that Earl Thomas, sideline to sideline lurker, ready to make some ball hawking plays for Baltimore. Can someone say Ed Reed? I know I can. He's primed to be the real deal.
Bert Metas • Defensive Tackle • Michigan
Goodness gracious. The Hawks must love their Wolverines. As if McGinn and Showcase wasn't enough, they go ahead and trade for the former Otter Defensive Tackle, Bert Metas.
From what is being said in the rumor mill, the Hawks had a player that was not happy where he was and this trade allowed him to take his talents to Orange County.
Bert Metas is a top 5 DT talent in the league as far as getting to the QB, currently sitting tied for fourth in sacks. It's a stat that the Hawks can use more of, seeing that they are currently at the bottom of the totem pole for racking up sacks so far this year.
We will see how both Bisquiteen Crocker and Bert Metas will mesh together in the hopes of turning around their less than stellar pass rush.
----------------------------
Hmm.. When there is two sequence of events, it would be a duality.
Three would make it a Trilogy, of course.
What's four you might ask?
Let's call it a..
TETRALOGY!
