After much hype after the draft where they hauled in a heck of a class, the second line has fallen flat on their face. Keeping games competitive is not what the fan base had in mind and after the first game, that was highly controversial, Nola looked as good as promised. They had a lot of energy in the locker room and was excited. Little did they know that was the high point up to this point in the season.
Let’s into the bright spots on the team, this won’t take long so stay with me. First we have Gump who has single handily carried the offense all season. Not only the rushing getting better on his end but he has been a receiving demon thus far this season with 30 catches and 253 along with his 134 attempts and 523 yards rushing giving him a league leading 8 rushing touchdowns. Next is the Wr Fyodorovich who has 31 catches for 573 yards and 5 tds. Swift has been a very good 1-2 punch with Gump this season. On the defensive side.... well Bode is third in tackles, Slothface is consistent in the middle of the league in tackles and top part in sacks with 5, Harrison has 2 interceptions and Brackenridge shows a lot of promise with 3 sacks and 1 interception. When the offense does get a lead though the defense just can’t finish. That’s not to put all the blame on them either.
What to say about my man Stan? Let’s look for a second, he’s seventh in yards at 1869 yards. He ranks sixth in percentage with 57.5. His 7 touchdown puts him 9th out of 10 quarterbacks and his 6 interceptions is sixth in the league. He has a decent rating at 81.6. Never mind that’s not decent. That’s Geno Smith numbers.
It’s a young team though that’s still learning the league. I’d say a couple of seasons and watch out for the second line. Stan is our guy and we all gotta do better to improve. Second round pick Jackson just got his first touchdown so hopefully he grows from that as well. That’s my take on our season thus far.
