As the DSFL teams get acquainted with the large S22 class of incoming rookies, it is important to remember that rookies have some influence over the team that drafts them. In such a large incoming class, it is impossible for every General Manager to interview and scout every draft prospect. Therefore, it would follow that a player reaching out to a franchise's GM and staying active on their Discord page can go a long towards putting himself in the team's sights on draft day.
The purpose of this guide is to introduce the rookies to the franchises of the DSFL so they can learn about the teams scouting them, and can reach out to those teams which most fit their style and personality. I will include interviews with GMs, information on franchise history, and an analysis of each roster.
The Expansion Teams
These two exciting new franchises have no history, nor do they have rosters to analyze. They do, however, have responsive GMs with a clear sense of direction and purpose for the upcoming season. If you want to be part of a new and exciting adventure setting franchise records and establishing a culture, these teams might be for you. Here is what their GMs had to say. (Note: some teams have co-GMs. I will include the answers of the GMs which responded first to my interview request.)
Dallas Birddogs
Interview with Gucci
Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. We don’t have a culture yet. We’re looking to add good locker room fits and mature players. As well as active players.
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. We haven't played a game yet, so zero.
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A.The only player we have is my player White Goodman, a running back, so we need literally every position.
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. We’ll build our schemes to fit our team after we draft one. Right now we [don't] have a single player on our roster. We don’t know who our QB will be, our roster’s strengths and weaknesses, etc. it would be impossible to make a scheme right now.
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Birddogs?
A. Current DSFL GMs who have won an Ultimini as GM: Scorp
Current DSFL GMs who have won an Ultimus as GM: Gucci
I bring a whole different style of management to my team, a pro style. Most DSFL teams coddle you and try to make the most fun environment possible. I will teach you how to become a successful player in this league and the NSFL for seasons to come. Plus we can still have a bit of fun.
London Royals
Interview with DeadlyPlayer
Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. As a brand-new expansion team, there is not exactly a culture set in place as of now. But I think that’s the exciting part. The Royals can define our culture however we want, a fresh slate if you will. Modern_duke and I plan to build a culture that consists of family, community, and support. Don’t get me wrong, we want to win, but I also want this team to become a welcoming place to everyone and anyone to encourage activity..
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. 0 as we’re a brand-new expansion team but keep an eye out. Might get one sooner than people think.
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A.Silly answer, everything. Serious answer, everything.
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. Once the draft is over, and we’ve reviewed the pieces we’ve gotten, that decision will be made.
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Royals?
A. This is the most exciting question for me personally. Players should want to be drafted by the London Royals for a few reasons. Top of that list being, they have the opportunity to come in and make history, as the first class of the Royals, record breaking will be almost weekly, they have the chance to direct the future of this team, and make it as great as they are. Another big reason is the philosophy of leadership on the Royals. I like to keep an active LR that is centered around friendship, rather than seeing one message every other day. Finally, I would like to end with the Royals are looking for players that want to make history, that want to win it all, and that want to have fun on the journey.
Current Franchises
These squads have histories and rosters already in place, so if tradition, experience, and a strong group of alumni are important to you, these teams would be great landing spots.

Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. Were a friendly bunch that like to joke around in the locker room. Neither Starboy or I take ourselves seriously and we like people that will talk sports with us and take sides in our endless CFB debate (Go Dawgs)
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. one :/
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A.Its tough to say until we see who gets called up but I would guess: LB, CB, RB
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. Offensively: run heavy usually, but with Zero-Two presumably returning we would like to open it up next season. It would be nice to get some fast receivers and hog-maulies up front for next year.
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Coyotes?
A. The new generation of Coyotes will have a chance to bring championships to a franchise that has been deprived for a long time.

Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. The Ducks have a great culture of an excellent locker room and on the field success. We obviously show that with winning back to back Ultiminis in recent year but if you look back at Min. GMs and players they often excel in NSFL.
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. Four total. Two as the Grey Ducks two as the Marshals.
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A. Cornerback [and] Safety are the big ones. 3rd would be either WR, RB or QB depending [on] who gets called up.
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. Last season we ran a lot of power 30 on offense and Nickle/3-4 on defense. With how the DSFL goes you have to be willing to adjust though and we are going to make the adjustments to give our players the best chance to succeed.
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Grey Ducks?
A. Rookies should want to be a grey duck thanks to our great Locker room and on the field success. As gm my goal is to help give my team any resources to accomplish their goals, whether that's being a max earner or start to learn more about the sim and the GM side of things or just a great environment for them to have fun. This league is as great as you make it and I want to help them make the most of it.

Interview with GM Frostbite:
Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. The culture of MB is one that likes to have fun, and likes to do it in style. Our locker room is one of, if not the best in the business. We had the most active players in the DSFL last year, and our locker room culture really helped with that endeavor.
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. Sadly the Myrtle Beach franchise has only won 1 Ultimini (before we relocated), and it was as the Palm Beach Solar Bears. But we are coming off of our two strongest seasons from 10-4 and 12-2, and we were in the Ultimini this past season, but sadly we lost to Minnesota in our worst game of the season 28-3. Which hurt me even more so as a falcons fan.
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A. Well, we wont really know all too much about needs until call-ups, but I'm gonna guess on who some call-ups might be and go from there. We will probably need some DB's as two of our safeties are for sure getting called up, and the third is more than likely. We also have a CB who switched positions (thats me) and one of very high tpe who will also likely go into the NSFL immediately. We will also be losing one of our DL minimum so expect us to go there in the draft. Our third position of need is RB, as our star RB Siddhu Sarvepally (who will likely win an award with his amazing performance) is most likely getting called up to play in the big leagues. So, just to recap here, DB, DL, RB.
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. As most teams in the DSFL do, we are a run heavy team, even more so this year with out 2 active OL, who are awesome! So expect a lot of carries if you come here ; ). As for defense, we run nickel the most (once again most everyone else does this too) which allows for 4 DL, 2 LB, 5 DB. And we will need almost a completely new defense here next season, so Im excited to see all the new faces.
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Buccaneers?
A. A rookie should want to get drafted by the Buccs because our coaching staff is some of the best in the business, no bias of course. We have Kacey Dream, former MVP as a DEFENSIVE PLAYER as the co-gm, as well as having a kicker coach in Baxter Frost. These guys can do real wonders with their players. Just this past season they found hidden gems seemingly everywhere, as 14th round pick Rotticus Scott is now expected to be a 3rd round pick or better! We also like to nag you all to update, so you will almost never miss any TPE in MB.

Interview with GM ScorpXCracker
Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. Our culture is the best in the league, in my opinion. We are a new team, and we have that hunger to succeed.
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. Sadly, we have not won any championships. For 90% of the league's history we have not existed, but now we are looking to get our first
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A. In a league like the DSFL where players go by so quickly, pretty much everything is a need.
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. We like to pound the ball a lot, so we could always use some runing backs for that, as well as some players who can block. On defense we run 4-3, so getting some LBs would be nice. We are very flexible though, and can change to [accommodate] our roster.
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Seawolves?
A. We offer something that no other team does. The chance to bring a championship for the first time. In my opinion, that's one of the best opportunities you can get.

Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. Due to having GM issues and rebuilding the locker room the pythons don't have a set culture right now but i plan to make us into a loving family.
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. The Pythons have the most Ultimini appearances and the second most championships wins in the league.
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A. We will not be saying what we are looking for you will just have to see what happens at the draft.
(My projected roster needs: CB, WR, S)
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. Due to the rules of the League schemes aren't really a thing.
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Pythons?
A. Apart from me being super awesome and nice? well honestly we plan on building a family and if we win games along the way so be it.

Interview with GM Jay_Doctor
Q1. How would you describe the culture of your franchise?
A. I think Tijuana has a great culture built up. There are a lot of great alumni on the team that help tie the previous generations with the new ones. Traditionally, Tijuana has been a loud and proud franchise that takes game day seriously. As much as we like to win, at the end of the day we just have a lot of fun. We boast a lot of recent talent such as Kyle Idlewyld (the #1 overall pick from last season and now Ultimus champ), or Inspectah Deck who just set the modern area sack record for a game and a season.
Q2. How many championships has your franchise won?
A. We have 6 championships under our belt, which is a league high.
Q3. What are your roster's three biggest draft needs by position?
A. Biggest need is a bit difficult to say. With a class this size, I think finding a balance of players will be key. I think all bets are off for having a moderately universal draft board, so players could fall really far that could be a steal for the team. Odds are good that we have active players at every position which is awesome.
Q4. Which schemes do you run on offense and defense, and which types of players are best suited to those schemes?
A. (GM preferred not to answer for strategic purposes)
Q5. Why should a rookie want to be drafted by the Luchadores?
A. If a player values a team with great league history and winning values, Tijuana is the place for them. We have legendary alumni at every position who can offer valuable advice for how to make your player successful. We are also well-known for our love for offensive lineman, so fair rubs look no further.
Wrap Up and Team Priorities
I hope this post has given the rookies in this class the information we need to empower us to seek out the franchise which best fits our player's position, personality, priorities and style. The following is a summary of the priorities of each franchise that I have gleaned from the GM interviews and observation.
Birddogs: Priority of Winning
Royals: Priority of Community
Coyotes: Priority of Fun
Grey Ducks: Priority of Teaching and Player Development
Buccaneers: Priority of Booty
Seawolves: Priority of Hunger for Franchise's First Championship
Pythons: Priority of Cultural Reset
Luchadores: Priority of Tradition and Success
The purpose of this guide is to introduce the rookies to the franchises of the DSFL so they can learn about the teams scouting them, and can reach out to those teams which most fit their style and personality. Wrap Up and Team Priorities
I hope this post has given the rookies in this class the information we need to empower us to seek out the franchise which best fits our player's position, personality, priorities and style. The following is a summary of the priorities of each franchise that I have gleaned from the GM interviews and observation.
Birddogs: Priority of Winning
Royals: Priority of Community
Coyotes: Priority of Fun
Grey Ducks: Priority of Teaching and Player Development
Buccaneers: Priority of Booty
Seawolves: Priority of Hunger for Franchise's First Championship
Pythons: Priority of Cultural Reset
Luchadores: Priority of Tradition and Success
