As a new player this was a great opportunity to learn more about the NSFL teams and about my draft class. I hope to have a complete ten round mock draft at the conclusion of the DSFL season. This iteration has TPE values from before today's updates and the draft order does include the recent trades. Based on my evaluations, I determined each team's core needs as follows:
Honolulu Hahalua All
Sarasota Sailfish All
San Jose Sabercats: DE, CB
Arizona Outlaws: RB, DE, LB, S, CB
Philadelphia Liberty: DE, DT, LB, CB
Chicago Butchers: CB, DE, S
Yellowknife Wraiths: TE, DT, S
Austin Copperheads: DE, DT, CB
Colorado Yeti: CB, DE
Orange County Otters: TE, DT, DE
Baltimore Hawks: LB, CB, DT, TE
New Orleans Second Line: QB, WR, DE, S
Round One:
1)
Austin Copperheads (from Honolulu): Phat Boi DT TPE 219 - Austin trades up to the first overall pick and addresses their biggest need on the team by taking the best defensive lineman on the board.
2)
New Orleans Second Line (from Sarasota): Troen Egghands DE TPE 184 - New Orleans completes the sweep of expansion teams trading their top picks away and gets the highest TPE defensive end to replace aging Ben Tu’inukuafe.
3)
San Jose Sabercats: Tyler Oles JR CB TPE 197 - Oles could have been a top two pick if the expansion teams did not trade out but San Jose is happy that he is available here joining HeHateMe PickSix as a pair of very talented young corners.
4)
Arizona Outlaws: Sandro Ryeu DE TPE 177 With two defensive linemen already drafted, Arizona is forced to forgo the available linebackers and chooses the best available defensive end filling their most glaring need.
5)
Philadelphia Liberty: Stanisław Koniecpolski LB TPE 209 Philadelphia is happy with how the draft plays out so far and gets the 2nd highest TPE player at five.
6)
Philadelphia Liberty (from Chicago): Magnus Rikiya DT TPE 177 Philly adds another defensive player making it six straight to start this draft. Rikiya and his bank account will keep the Liberty funded through at least S25.
7)
Yellowknife Wraiths: Octavio Clemente DT TPE 180 The Yellowknifes consider taking TE Jeffrey Phillips here but due to the TE depth they choose a scarcer resource in a quality defensive tackle.
8)
Honolulu Hahalua (from Austin): Derred de Ville LB TPE 187 Honolulu with their first ever draft pick selects their future defensive captain and expansion team veteran Derred de Ville to anchor their defense.
9)
Colorado Yeti: Eldrick Avery CB TPE 180 Back to back London Royal players are selected and the Colorado Yeti add the 2nd best cornerback available in the draft.
10)
Orange County Otters: Mo "Mamba" Magic DT TPE 172 Name recognition gets Magic drafter here above Deshun Jones; how their careers stack up will be interesting to follow.
11)
Baltimore Hawks: Brandon Booker CB TPE 183 Another defensive player picked here. Baltimore has a lot of holes and they add some youth to the aging cornerback depth chart.
12)
New Orleans Second Line: Ben Slothlisberger QB TPE 168 This one comes from Memento Mori and their Mock Draft S22 v2.1 as they seem to be in the know on this one and is the first offensive player off the board
Round Two:
13)
Honolulu Hahalua: White Goodman RB TPE 205 - With limited QB options for the expansion franchise they select the top-rated running back to be a workhorse for this offense while they build the program.
14)
Sarasota Sailfish: Buck Thornton S TPE 180 - Sarasota uses their first ever pick on a defensive captain to build their team around much like Honolulu in playmaking safety Thorton.
15)
San Jose Sabercats: Monterey "Monty" Jack QB TPE 196 - GM re-create pick here, so the almost as good jack brother gets the draft bragging rights.
16)
Arizona Outlaws: Matt "Son of Havoc" Cross S TPE 180 - Arizona has a lot of holes to fill and having three picks in the first two rounds helps. Cross adds athleticism to an older defense.
17)
Arizona Outlaws (from Philadelphia): Thubba Bumper CB TPE 179 - The Outlaws have revamped their defense with these three picks adding a great young cornerback to round out the weak secondary.
18)
Philadelphia Liberty (from Chicago): Cadillac Harris CB TPE 167 - Having already added a defensive tackle and linebacker to their squad, the Liberty get Harris from the much-touted London Royals defense.
19)
Yellowknife Wraiths: Colby Jack QB TPE 204 - Another GM re-create pick; The Jack brothers will be among the faces of the league in a few seasons.
20)
Austin Copperheads: Zamir Kehla CB TPE 160 - The run on cornerbacks continues as six of the top twenty picks were among the deep position. Kehla is a candidate for DB of the year in the DSFL.
21)
Colorado Yeti: Eddie Jeeta WR TPE 178 - Having drafted a cornerback and no highly rated defensive ends left on the board, the Yeti add the speedster wide receiver (making him the first one off the board) with James Bishop at the end of his career.
22)
Orange County Otters: Jeffrey Phillips TE TPE 205 - This could not have line up better for Orange County with Johnny Blaze in his twilight years, adding the third overall TPE player at twenty-five looks like a great move.
23)
Baltimore Hawks: Deshun Jones DT TPE 177 - The slide for Jones ends here as Baltimore adds their second defensive player in Jones who will be paired with current rookie Sardine Beaner as the Hawks interior line of the future.
24)
New Orleans Second Line: William Lim WR TPE 185 - The Second Line will pair Slothlisberger with the highest rated WR available in the draft. We will hear about Slothlisberger to Lim for many years to come.
Round Three:
25)
Honolulu Hahalua: Quinn Hughes S TPE 172 - Honolulu adds teammate of first round pick de Ville by selecting the big play safety. The two players and their current expansion team experience will help the Hahalua become respectable very soon.
26)
Sarasota Sailfish: Acura Skyline RB TPE 181 - Sarasota drafts the speed back from London who has shown clutch, big play ability so far, this DSFL season. Skyline will be expected to touch the ball 30 plus times every game next season.
27)
San Jose Sabercats: Slinky Claxton DE TPE 151 - San Jose got the best cornerback and possibly the best player in the draft with Oles Jr and are able to comfortably draft for need with Claxton at this pick.
28)
Arizona Outlaws: Lawrence Bass LB TPE 162 - Arizona considers a running back here but with a few solid options still available at that position, the Outlaws continue the complete revamping of their defense with four players selected in the first three rounds.
29)
Chicago Butchers (from Philadelphia): Chester Sweets CB TPE 165 - Not a lot of picks for the Butchers this season so addresses the biggest team weakness at cornerback with the best available is the right move here.
30)
Philadelphia Liberty (from Chicago): James Cho DE TPE 148 - Without may viable prospect left at defensive end; the Liberty select Cho to fill their last remaining positional weakness going into the draft.
31)
Yellowknife Wraiths: Heath Evans TE TPE 179 - The Wraiths passed on Phillips in the first round so without any tight ends on the roster they select Evans to be the security blanket for quarterback of the future, Coly Jack.
32)
Honolulu Hahalua (From Chicago): Johnny Hellzapoppin S TPE 177 - As a new team Honolulu can draft the best available players and that is what they do getting Hellzapoppin here and pairing him with early pick Quinn Hughes in the defensive backfield.
33)
Colorado Yeti: Patrik Money DE TPE 137 - There is a great demand for defensive ends in this draft causing the Yeti to reach for Money here, but it does fill a glaring need.
34)
Orange County Otters: Simeon Works DE TPE 121 - After Money comes off the board, the Otters are forced to grab the last quality defensive end prospect available in London Royal Simeon Works
35)
Baltimore Hawks: Haha Mango-Panda LB TPE 148 - A defensive player heavy draft continues as the Hawks add Panda to the oldest linebacker group in the league
36)
Sarasota Sailfish (From New Orleans): Colt Mendoza CB TPE 164 - Sarasota starts their franchise's draft history by focusing on having a highly rated secondary and drafts Mendoza before the run on cornerbacks begins.
Round Four:
37)
Honolulu Hahalua: Big Edd DT TPE 154 - Honolulu continues a great first draft and acquires a defensive line anchor in Edd.
38)
Sarasota Sailfish: Mark Radson LB TPE 148 - Not much left at linebacker so the Sailfish snag the best one on the board in Radson.
39)
San Jose Sabercats: Byron Dolls OL TPE 177 - San Jose read the media and shocks the NSFL world by drafting an offensive lineman in the 4th round. Great pick as Dolls comes in to be Jack's protector for the next ten seasons.
40)
Arizona Outlaws: Tatsu Nakamura RB TPE 175 - A great draft so far by Arizona effectively addressing all their positional needs in the first four rounds taking Nakamura to bolster a mediocre backfield.
41)
Arizona Outlaws (from Philadelphia): Daniel George TE TPE 172 - Tight end Jammerson Irving is about to hit regression and this is another great looking pick for the Outlaws. George brings a lot to the table in the blocking game as well.
42)
Austin Copperheads (from Chicago): Susan Cash.Jr WR TPE 160 - Tidwell is aging so adding depth here is a good move. Cash could end up stashed for a season before making a splash in the NSFL.
43)
Yellowknife Wraiths: Wesley Eriksen S TPE 161 - Fills a need with a great earner, solid locker-room type.
44)
Austin Copperheads: Calvin Golladay OL TPE 169 - The Copperheads only offensive lineman is about to hit regression and the league is starting to wise up to their value. Golladay goes before Buckley due his higher intelligence and sooner than expected due to San Jose.
45)
Colorado Yeti: Andrew Witten CB TPE 164 - Additional depth with Hornbacher at the end of his career and Sinclair about to hit regression.
46)
Orange County Otters: Jamar Lackson RB TPE 160 - With only a few quality running backs left on the board and Bigby about to hit regression, the Otters take Lackson here at forty-six.
47)
Baltimore Hawks: Michael Witheblock WR TPE 168 - Maddox is nearing the end so adding Witheblock and allowing him an additional season to develop looks like the right call here.
48)
New Orleans Second Line: Sebastian Vettel S TPE 166 - Best available safety goes here filling the last need for New Orleans.
Round Five:
49)
Honolulu Hahalua: Jim Waters QB TPE 168 - With Sarasota waiting behind them, Honolulu pulls the trigger and drafts their quarterback in Waters.
50)
Sarasota Sailfish: Ben Stackinpaper CB TPE 149 - The Sailfish could use a defensive lineman but without much there, they draft a cornerback to play opposite of Colt Mendoza.
51)
San Jose Sabercats: Bruce Buckley OL TPE 170 - San Jose does it again drafting Buckley to defend against sack hungry defenses putting him at right tackle opposite of Dolls.
52)
Arizona Outlaws: Kevin Koh WR TPE 154 - Arizona completes the restocking of their team with three consecutive picks in the fifth round. Koh is a stash player here.
53)
Arizona Outlaws (from Philadelphia): Eric Barlow S TPE 165 - Barlow could add immediate depth and fell further than expected in the draft.
54)
Arizona Outlaws (from Chicago): Jonathan Altidor CB TPE 148 - Altidor is another secondary stash and the tenth cornerback taken in the draft.
55)
Yellowknife Wraiths: Tommy Sacamano OL TPE 153 - Sacamano is the last quality offensive lineman remaining and he will be paired with Colby Jack on the Wraiths of the future.
56)
Honolulu Hahalua (From Austin): William Alexander WR TPE 150 - The Hahalua can wait on a quarterback here and draft the best receiver on the board with Alexander.
57)
Philadelphia Liberty (from Colorado): Mike Lee WR TPE 146 - With Nacho Varga about to hit regression, the Liberty draft and stash Lee from the Dallas Birddogs.
58)
Orange County Otters: Alexander Hamilton II CB TPE 143 - Drafting Hamilton here adds a shot of depth with AJ Lattimer about to hit regression.
59)
Baltimore Hawks: Donatello Arrabiata TE TPE 125 - The Hawks need a tight end and without much depth left at the position they take the best available in Arrabiata who will be able to help in the red zone.
60)
Sarasota Sailfish (From New Orleans): Nick Kaepercolin WR TPE 139 - Sarasota adds their second offensive player and third London Royal teammate in Kaepercolin to help set the culture for the franchise moving forward.
