CB Benson Bayley has not been claimed yet on Waivers, so ask me questions. Give me some hard-hitting ones to answer! [/div]
:interview: Bzerkap: How do you think your size impacts your ability on the field? Some scouts question your fluidity at 6'3".
"My size is something that will absolutely benefit me in the long run. I am only a young age of 20 years old, so I have time to grow into my awkward body. I think this will definitely give me an advantage over some of the taller receivers in the league. Quarterbacks will absolutely think again when thinking about throwing a fade in my direction. I am mostly going to be lined up on the outside against the outside receiver. With my height, it will be very difficult to throw over the top which is something that QBs will try to do. My height definitely will cause some issues when looking at shorter routes, but my longer arms will help with tackling. I have some work to do when looking at my hands, but that is something I know I will be working on.
Scouts should watch me a little more. I think there absolutely are limitations to my game, but scouts should definitely know what they have in me. My height should absolutely be looked at as a positive just based off the fact that I can cover bigger receivers without an issue. There is nothing worse than a guy that has the skills to be a solid receiver, but the height just does not match up. I have both."
:interview: Bzerkap: What do you like to play. Zone or man?
"I prefer to play man coverage. I think my skills will definitely benefit man coverage more than zone. My height is something that will benefit that more. When I am going up with faster receivers, I may be looked at to do a little more zone at first, but man is where my strength is. I am open to either, but I think I will be an overall stronger Cornerback when it comes to man coverage."
:interview: timeconsumer: Who is your favorite team and why is it the Otters?
"The Otters are a very interesting team for sure. You know, I have never really been to Santa Ana, California for longer than a game with LSU. I actually am a big fan of the logo. The General Manager is someone that is highly respected by me. I definitely would love to play on the Otters. When looking at the team, there are absolutely people that stand out. Ragnar Kronen is someone that I have absolutely enjoyed watching patrol the Safety area. I think I would absolutely learn a lot from him. I definitely think Anthony Petrakis is someone I would love to model my game after. He is someone I could easily learn from to help my game. Marc Spector is another guy that I definitely enjoy watching play. I feel like the three of us could make a hell of a defensive back tandem. I would be honored to be drafted by this team."
:interview: sapp2013: With so much defensive talent coming out of LSU in the past three years, and most notably 2 years your senior players Delacur, Rashad, and Rivere, Are you ready to dub the LSU secondary, DBU (Defensive Back University)?
"LSU is a fantastic school. There is no doubt there is a reason why these players have come out of LSU and been successful. I feel like I would not be the player I am today without learning what I did at LSU. I mean, I have learned a ton and being able to play with these guys was extremely beneficial to my game. I think I would love to be what they have become. LSU is a school to be reckoned with. I would not change anything about the school I went to."
:interview: sapp2013: With players like Gavin Graham and Tyler Grant already getting a head start on catching up to speed in the NSFL, what are you doing in your spare time to get ready for the combine, draft, and inevitably, the NSFL season?
"The only thing I know how to do best, train. It is important to know where you are in relation to some of the other people in your draft class. I believe I am the best player in which a team can take. I will show everyone that I will be the best. I may be a little behind them right now as I spent my time training in the Netherlands, but when it comes to the end of this season, I will show why you should have chosen me over them. Gavin Graham and Tyler Grant are going to be solid, but Bayley Island is something that people will stay away from. The Rookie of the Year almost has my name on it. Mark my words, my plan is to go 1st Overall. I will be doing everything in my power to do so."
:interview: sapp2013: What is your favorite flavor of air freshener?
"I am actually a huge vanilla fan. I have been someone who likes this smell. I am open to a good air freshener. I think in any bathroom or any locker room, air freshener should be a staple. I am not afraid of some lavender as well."
:interview: sapp2013: Is a hot dog a sandwich?
"You see, when you look up a sandwich, it is something between two pieces of bread. I believe that a hot dog can be considered a sandwich for that reason. I think there is absolutely a case for only one piece of bread not being a sandwich, but I do not think that should be the case. It is a very valid question that gets the mind working."
:interview: sapp2013: If you had to kill someone, would it be with a gun or a knife?
"Knife. I don't like a lot of noise, it's easier to hide with a knife, you can be strategic with a knife. Also, there is less permits and stuff to buy one of those. No serial numbers or anything like that. You clean up a little blood from the knife and chuck the knife away. A gun is too loud and may cause a scene that others may see. No one likes others."
:interview: sapp2013: Which current NSFL player do you look up to?
"There are a lot of players in which I look up to. Two of which I mentioned before. I also have a few others in which I definitely enjoy such as Philippe Carter, Dermot Lavelle, and Darnell Turner. These are just a couple guys in which I really enjoy watching. I think these guys have proven to be successful in their areas. I would love to model my game pretty closely to them. I am someone who tries to be his own person, but these guys are interesting to model one or more parts of their game."
:interview: sapp2013: Is there a rivalry that you hope to get started once you are drafted?
"I think WRs will quickly find me a pain to deal with. There is no one that even scares me or makes me nervous right now. I want to get someone that scares me or makes me nervous before deciding that. Rivalries are fun, I enjoy winning battles. Gavin Graham would be the closest I have to someone that could be rivalry."
:interview: tlk742: What is your greatest strength?
"Speed is going to be my biggest strength in the league. I am going to be able to run with the best of them. There will not a guy to get behind me based off my speed and height. I think that this combination will make me an extremely solid CB in this league. I think the confidence that I have that I can be the next great All-Star is something that is a strength that any player can have. You never want to have someone who will double think before making a pick. I see the ball, I go for it."
:interview: tlk742: what is your greatest weakness?
"I would say my biggest weaknesses are my strength and me endurance. I think I can do about 2-3 downs before needing time off the field. That is something that I will absolutely changing with training camp and mini camp as my coaches get me into shape. I have definitely not been doing too much other than working out, so my fitness will not be of question, but my endurance will be. I need to get on the treadmill a little more. I also need to grow out rather than up. I need to gain some muscle and grow into my frame. These are easy things to do. "
:interview: tlk742: If the Sabercats were to draft you, why would it be a dream come true?
"San Jose is a gorgeous city, so I have heard. It would absolutely be a dream come true because any team drafting me and giving me the chance to be a superstar will be a dream come true. Now, looking at some of the players on the team, there are a few players in which I would love to play next to and share a locker room with. Vincen Sharpei, Jack Durden, John Canton, Ja Brill, and Shane Weston are guys that I love watching play. Now, I do see a spot next to Canton for me. I do not see anyone taking that spot from me. With me next to him, that would absolutely be phenomenal. I will leave it up to them to see where I fit, but I think there could definitely be a spot there for me."
:interview: Muford: Where do you think you will excel in the NSFL?
"I am going to be a guy that will excel when going against X receivers that run straight. My speed and height will be able to cut that off and cut down big plays. I will be able to anticipate plays as well to make interceptions. My speed will also take over there leading to TDs for myself. I see myself as a shutdown corner for a while. I do have a lot of learning and growing to do, but I am not opposed to either of those things. This is what will make myself a great prospect and a great player at the next level."
:interview: Muford: Where do you rank yourself in this years upcoming draft class?
"I see myself as a top 3 pick going into the draft. I think looking back, teams will wonder why they did not take me as the top pick. I think there are definitely other options of guys with a little more time training, but over the long haul, I am here to be that #1 or #2 corner. I think moving into the NSFL season, I can immediately step in and make a huge impact. I feel like a top 3 pick is a little low, but I am being reasonable here given the time that it is now."
:interview: Muford: Boxers or Briefs?
"I am a briefs kind of guy. I think it keeps my junk a little more secure. I have large junk, so keeping that controlled and close is important to me. Boxers are good, but I will wear briefs first and foremost."
:interview: Muford: If you could be one superhero, who would it be?
"This is easy, Deadpool. That guy is a boss and has the ability to regenerate, so it's almost impossible to kill him. Yes, I realize he dies in the comics, don't remind me. He is a guy with a hilarious attitude and he does not care about anything. He knows that he is the funny guy and he can do anything he wants. Wade Wilson is absolutely my idol."
:interview: Muford: What is your favorite Dinosaur?
"Saber-toothed cat I would say would be my favorite dinosaur. That's not a dinosaur, okay, well, I will choose the Archaeopteryx then. That's like a bird thing. It is probably someone that a lot of dinosaurs overlooked. I want to be that guy. I can be that guy."
:interview: Muford: Have you accepted Lord Nibbler as your Savior?
"I don't think Lord Nibbler is my Savior. When did I ask for a Savior? I am the savior of any defense, so consider me the Savior."
:interview: AsylumParty: Have you got a pre-game ritual?
"I listen to a lot of country music and eat a M&M sandwich with a glass of chocolate milk. That is my pre-game ritual. I have to listen to Jason Aldean albums, but other than that, there is not much happening. I am someone who jams out to music in the locker room and keeps to myself. I usually am a quiet guy, so not too much for crazy stuff."
:interview: AsylumParty: What's the most important trait an up and coming rookie can posses?
"I think honestly the willingness to train and understanding that you will not be the best player coming in. You may be a guy that ends up only having a handful of snaps per game. I think if you come in thinking you will be the starting player on the defense, that is a great quality to have, but probably unrealistic. I think you need to want to learn and take advice from others as well. They have been there longer, they know how to be successful. Take tips and tricks from them. You need to be confident, but don't be overconfident."
:interview: AsylumParty: Would you have any qualms about playing for a rebuilding team?
"You know, I would not at all. I think that re-builders become contenders after a couple seasons. I am there to be the cornerstone of a team and someone they know they can trust. I am someone that is a lot about trust. I will not be chasing the money, I will be looking at the team that promises me something and then delivers. If you are loyal to me, I am loyal to you. Now, perpetual rebuilding is a problem, but if you have a direction, I am definitely happy."
:interview: AsylumParty: What NFL cb do you model yourself after?
"I am looking to be a Malcolm Butler type of CB. I am a guy who does his work and goes home. You do not see me out there boasting how awesome I am, but everyone knows I am. I make big plays and can be counted on to play effectively. I follow the rules and directions and a team guy. He may not be considered one of the best in the game, but he is absolutely solid."
:interview: RedCydranth: Have you ever been to Des Moines, Iowa? If so, were you there on Thursday, May 17th 2007?
"I plead the fifth. I cannot confirm nor deny this statement."
:interview: RedCydranth: What is your personal opinion on putting horseradish on hardboiled quail eggs? I know, you're probably sick about talking about it, but it's all the talk right now.
"I know this makes me sick to even think about. Why quail? Are you weird in thinking that quail is the real thing? Is it because it is gluten free?"
:interview: RedCydranth: How many times have you gone #2 today?.... asking for a friend.
"I wake up and poop excellence."
:interview: Valtookan: What are you looking to be, a "Big Play" Cornerback or a "Shutdown" Cornerback? By this I mean, do you value getting turnovers more or do you value not allowing any catches/plays against you?
"I am someone who is going to take what comes to him. For instance, if I get a read and I think that I can get a pick, I am by all means going for it. Now, if I have a doubt in my mind, I will just defend from the receiver catching the ball. I would look at myself more of a shutdown cornerback who makes some big plays. I know it really does not answer the question, but this is what I see myself as. It will be very rare for me to give up a big play. I am looking to be the guy that goes against their #1 and shuts him down."
:interview: Valtookan: Do you think you can be a starter right away?
"I would love to think that can be the case, but I would be crazy to actually believe it. There are a lot of guys who have put more time into training than I have, so I may be behind. By the time I get to next season, I am fully confident about being a starter. I think this season may see myself more of a roleplayer, but next year, I bet I will be in your lineup going up against another team's top or second receiver."
:interview: Valtookan: After speed, what trait do you feel is the most valuable for yourself?
"I would say hands is going to be extremely valuable. There are a lot of benefits in which you can think of when it comes to hands. You can be the guy causing turnovers or guy breaking up plays. Either way, hands is going to be extremely valuable to either situation. I will be looking at a couple other things in order to develop, but those are going to be the top two."
:interview: Valtookan: How would you feel if you went to the Arizona Outlaws?
"I think the Arizona Outlaws have a lot of players in which I would love to play alongside. Luechly, CA Chess, Dustin Evans, Jason Williams, Harriff Ernston, Jaylon Lee, AND many more. This is a team in which I think I'd fit in right away. Their defense is absolutely solid, so I think I would need to keep working hard to get a spot on the team, but I love a challenge. I would absolutely put them nearly the top of the list of teams in which I would be interested in. Now, I am definitely open to others, but I mean, there is a reason why they are 9-2."
