Blues (3-1) at Luchadores (2-2)
Week Five starts with the best road team in the league against what was what considered the best team in the DSFL. The Chicago Blues have gone 2-1 on the road on the way to a league best 3-1 average, but this may be the biggest paper tiger possible. The Blues are ranked last in offensive yards gained AND in defensive yards allowed, making their victories more than surprising. The Tijuana Luchadores, meanwhile, come in to this match with the second-best point differential in the league and home field advantage, but they did just lose two of their best players in DE Big Bot and TE Connor Tanner. Will they still have enough talent to stop the Blues’ road success?
Seawolves (2-2) at Coyotes (2-2)
The best team in offensive and defensive yards, the Norfolk SeaWolves, will go on the road against the Kansas City Coyotes. The Coyotes suffered some huge losses early on with WR Jaquan Young and QB Nicolas Pierno, but have recently added TE Ben Hartsock, WR Victor DeMar, and WR Brian Wheat to their roster, though neither player appears to be ready to play. Will they be able to keep Norfolk’s deadly offense off the field long enough to defend their house? They better, because the SeaWolves will put up points fast if their league-leading offense gets to take the field.
Pythons (1-3) at Marshals (2-2)
After suffering the league’s only 0-2 start, the Portland Pythons have been attempting to claw back to .500, but the San Antonio Marshals are not going to make it easy. They may have just lost the best wide receiver in the league with John Baker being called up, but they were also able to replace league-worst QB Aaron Rasheed, who leads the league with 8 interceptions thrown, and had 0 touchdown passes to make up for it.
Coyotes (2-2) at Luchadores (2-2)
I am going to go ahead and call this game the FEMA bowl, as the two teams most devastated by call-ups will face off in Tijuana for the first conference game of the night. I am going to give the advantage to Kansas City, as they have had a bit more time to adjust to their losses, and appear to be pretty capable on the road.
Pythons at SeaWolves
Starting off 1-3 is bad enough, but then having to play the Marshals AND the SeaWolves on the road? The good news for the Pythons is that their schedule will only get easier, but unfortunately for the Pythons, I am expecting a sad flight back to Portland.
Marshals at Blues
This should be a close game, as the Marshals appear to have a stronger roster, but their penchant for penalties and big mistakes cost them two games last week. Given that Chicago wins through capitalizing big on mistakes, this could either be a nightmare matchup for the Marshals or exactly their kind of game. We’ll have to wait and see.
