Hey guys! Since the Ultimus is done with it is now that time of the year where the league gets together and votes on who deserves to make the Pro Bowl! This article is going to focus on the NSFC Offensive side of the ball, and depending on what happens with time, I may do the other spots as well. Lets start out with Quarterback
Quarterback: Scrub Kyubee and Chris Orosz
This might be literally the easiest decision to make. Kyubee had a solid, yet unspectacular year, finishing with a line of 3518 passing yards, a 60% completion percentage, 20 TDs and 15 interceptions. Chris Orosz had a better season than Kyubee with 28 Tds, 11 picks and 3663 Yards. Both QBs had solid passer ratings (88.6 for Orosz and 83.3 for Kyubee). These two guys, while not necessarily super stars, are certainly better than the other NSFC options. Clifford Rove and Nicholas Pierno both were rookies, and while Rove certainly held his own out there, he was no where near the other two. Rove had as many touchdowns as Kyubee but had a worse completion percentage, yardage, more interceptions and a worse rating than both Kyubee and Orosz. While Pierno certainly showed flashes of being decent, he's gonna have to get better to be considered. Pierno set the record for picks in a season and was, quite frankly, a disaster. He had a QB rating of 35.3 (worse than if you threw an incomplete pass every attempt).
Running back: Bubba Nuck, Darlane Farlane and Boss Tweed
This is a four man race for this spot. Bubba Nuck, Boss Tweed, Darlane Farlane and Omar Wright were the four starting running backs in the NSFC. (why there are four starting spots for running backs in the conference and three Pro Bowl spots vs 20 starting spots for O Lineman and Five Pro Bowl spots is a separate issue). So lets start with the obvious: Boss Tweed deserves the spot. Forget stats for a quick second, anyone who watched the games know Tweed put the Yeti on his back. Tweed lead the league in carries and rushing yards (400 for 1375). He finished with more than 200 yards more than his next closest NSFC competitor. AND he did it all behind the worst line in the NSFC. He's a no doubt Pro Bowler. Now we have the three man competition between Omar Wright, Darlane Farlane and Bubba Nuck. This is tough. The touchdowns are almost identical (Wright with 7, Farlane and Nuck each have 6), but the carry number and Yards show a difference. It comes down to a question of volume or efficiency. Farlane was the least efficient, but Baltimore relied on him the most (Farlane with 360 carries, Nuck with 311 carries, and Wright with 289 carries) but Farlane had by far more yards (1114 for him, Nuck is 1045 and Wright had 982). I've stated this before but I am of the belief that volume is more important. Wright would likely be worse with more carries and given the yardage total I am going to go with Farlane and Nuck for the last two spots.
Wide Receiver: Trey Willie, Fox North, Bailey Cook and Josh Garden
These four receivers had awesome seasons. It's tough to craft an argument for a receiver that is not one of these four. Fox North was the best of the bunch in the NSFC leading the Wide Receivers in the conference in receptions and yards (70 catches, 1217 Yards and 8 TDs). He's a sure fire Pro Bowler this year. Hands down Rookie of the year Trey Willie is another Pro Bowler. Willie was second in the conference in yards with 1163 and fourth in conference with 64 receptions. While he only had 3 TDs his yards and receptions were still enough. Next up we have the dynamic duo in Yellowknife. Josh Garden had an amazing year as always (10 TDs to lead the conference 68 catches was good for second and third in the conference for yards with 1125). The fourth spot is Bailey Cook. Cook had a good season, yet unspectacular. His line of 62 catches, 1102 yards and 8 TDs are by far better than any other NSFC receiver. The only other receiver which a shot would be Stormblessed. He was WAY better in Baltimore with Kyubee but his overall numbers don't stack up to Cook.
Tight End: Paul Dimirio and Matthew Vincent
DiMirio is FAR AND AWAY the best option here. He had more receptions than anyone in the NSFC with 83 receptions He had four touchdowns and and 807 yards. I don't need to spend more time discussing this. Now for the other spot, I have no idea where to go. Askins is the best TRUE tight end option. He had 34 catches for 211 yards and no touchdowns. That is, quite frankly, not Pro Bowl numbers. Enter Matthew Vincent. Vincent was a tight end a lot for the Hawks (as was Cooper Christmas), but who knows how often exactly he was lined up at tight end. Vincent had a ton of receptions, for a very low average (66 catches for 500 yards and two touchdowns). Those are tight end numbers, and I think he should be a Pro Bowler over the other alternatives.
Offensive Line: Micah Hendrix, Avon Blocksdale, Finkenlarkin, Jogn Floggity and Max Akslesen
Micah Hendrix was easily the top offensive lineman in the NSFC this year He lead the conference in pancakes with 60 and had no sacks allowed. The next two are Finlenlarkin and Avon Blocksdale who had incredible seasons with identical stat lines (54 pancakes and two sacks allowed). Both of these guys deserve to make the Pro Bowl. We next have Jogn Flogity with a solid line of 57 pancakes and 5 sacks allowed to earn the fourth spot. The fifth spot was tough, but I have to give it to Akselsen. His stats make him a sure fire Pro Bowler, but the fact that he missed two games due to a suspension certainly make it a harder decision. Next up would be Colorado Rookie Antonio Sandoval, but Akselsen had way more pancakes than him and allowed one less sack.
So there you have it! That's my NSFC Offensive Pro Bowl Ballot, let me know what you guys think! Leave a question or comment. 1066 - ready for grading.
