With the new rules about OL changes, I was curious to see what other OL around the league were planning to do and what positions they were thinking about changing to. I first went to look at some of the more well known guys at the position. Winchester, Clegane and Akselsen don't seem to be switching. In fact they have all applied the 50 TPE buff to their stats so I assume they're all staying as is. Kind of makes me feel badly about even considering a position switch but hey that's just the wwayyy the news goes. So then I went and looked at highly touted FA Vincent Sharpei (@Muford). I assumed he wasn't going to make a change until he signed a new contract but lo and behold he has already put in his update a switch to linebacker and his teammate the underrated Jordan Yates (@jordan327) has done the same to become a speed back. Aside from a crazy offseason workout schedule and diet change to fit into these new positions nothing too unexpected. Except I did notice one thing that seemed out of place. While pondering my own position switch I realized because of equipment I'd still have points in pass blocking and run blocking I'd have to leave there that may not be that useful depending on if I switch and to what. But if you buy pro gloves every season through season 4, that's 28 TPE that you have to sink into those blocking stats that isn't useful if you switch to defense. Looking at the updates for Sharpei and Yates however, I noticed that neither of them put any TPE into blocking even though it's locked there because of equipment. No big deal, there's still time to change it before the next update and it's all good. Besides Yates as a running back may actually want that blocking TPE. Just need to make sure they and the updaters are aware of this.
However, there was another player I noticed that did not follow this and was able to do a position switch without having to lock all equipment TPE. I was curious about why the Wraiths were looking at signing Hayden when they already have two good CBs. I assume it's likely so they could force the Yeti to pay a contract that may not be ideal for them, but I looked at the updates for Old Man Lavelle and Mushing. I remembered Cushing had already switched to CB this season. I know for a fact that @kckolbe buys all the pro equipment every season so he would have bought gloves every season and therefore have applied 14 TPE in both blocking attributes or at least 10 if he didn't buy S4 yet. However looking at his update page, he only has 9 in each of those which means he has applied 12 TPE total elsewhere. He should have had 10 TPE locked into each blocking when he switched positions, but he was allowed to move 6 TPE in each of those stats. I'm not trying to start anything here, I'll let people do that in the comments. I respect kckolbe and what he does for the site as well as the Wraiths organization outside of their shady GM and any of their numerous shadow GMs. But, I do want to make sure that we're all following the same guidelines and nobody is getting some advantage however small. Really this is on the updaters that missed this during his position change but we all need to be aware of these things, especially as players stack more equipment. Certainly this isn't nearly as big a miss as a certain tight end who shall remain unnamed but we need to make sure people are doing archetype and position swaps properly as they're one of the more confusing aspects of player development. I have no idea if other position changes had a similar problem in the past, these three were as far as I looked. If I'm way off base here about how equipment TPE is allocated including during Archetype and position changes then I'll shut up but I think what I've laid out is correct.
