Podcast pay is getting a bit of an increase. As of right now you receive 3m/hr of content, however, recording itself isn't the extent of the work. This includes research, editing, and organizing. As it is, the work to payment ratio is about 1m/1hr which we feel is disproportionate to our other methods, especially when there is more than one person present (payment split), which is ideal for discussion. While everything being exactly equal isn't a necessity, we'd also like to encourage more people to start podcasting.
Rather than pay per minute as it is, we will be moving to a scale of 400k per 6 minutes. This will total 4m/hr which we are maintaining as the maximum payout per podcast.
Further changes include the method with which podcasts are graded.
We're moving to a grader's discretion scale. The reason we believe this will work with podcasts is due to their more objective nature as opposed to gfx or media quality.
Reasons for docked podcast payments include: inaudible microphone quality, frequently straying to irrelevant topics, clear lack of preparation/research. Really though, it's up to the graders, but we trust their judgment and don't foresee this presenting any problems as these are all reasonable expectations.
