[div align=\\\"center\\\"]TENSIONS RUN DEEP AS DRAXEL, BERCOVICI RE-UNITE[/div]
The NSFL’s first draft is getting closer, and in a quarterback pool stacked with talent, it’s becoming ever more critical that the quarterbacks find ways to separate themselves from their peers and showcase their talents, which is exactly what the NSFL QB Camp is all about- showcasing your abilities and doing so in a highly competitive atmosphere where you can show scouts your talents and do so while making the other players look bad in the process. But, the overwhelmingly top story entering the camp is the ongoing, bitter feud between top prospects Vincent Draxel and Josh Bercovici.
This is no media created rivalry, this isnt’ click-bait news, it’s the real thing, it’s real hatred, real dissent, its raw, unharnessed anger towards each other. How did this begin? Well, I’m glad you asked, although you’d have to have been living under a rock not to have heard about these two.
Two seasons ago, Josh Bercovici’s Arizona State Sun Devils traveled to South Carolina to play a meaningless scrimmage game with Vincent Draxel’s Gamecocks- basically an event for fans to see their favorite players in action in a competitive but not-competitive game. Well, things were going pretty well until Josh Bercovici misread the defense horribly, overthrowing his receiver and placing the ball right into the surprised hands of a defender. This infuriated Josh for reasons I still don’t understand, nonetheless, Josh tore after the defender who was working his way upfield towards him on the return. Bercovici proceeded to launch himself head first into the defender, spearing him with a helmet-to-helmet hit that sounded like a gun going off. It was the cheap shot of all cheap shots in a game that meant nothing.
The defender crumbled to the ground, knocked unconscious and later diagnosed with a severe concussion- he wouldn’t play football again. Bercovici ripped his helmet off, yelled into the air and stepped over the defender in an act of complete disrespect, clearly pleased with himself for avenging his own mistake. But, as you can imagine, this wasn’t received well from the Gamecocks, particularly Draxel. The pissed off quarterback sprinted towards Josh in B-Line, proceeded to sucker punch him in the face while yelling out ”I WILL FUCK YOU UP MOTHERFUCKER”.

Draxel issues vigiliante justice for Bercovici’s cheap shot.[/div]
The hit didn’t knock Josh down, however, and he proceeded to make things worse. He violently shoved Draxel, exclaiming ”Is that all you got? With punches as weak as that I’m not surprised your boy here dropped like a sack of potatoes, what are they feeding you pussies, estrogen?”. Both players traded a couple punches before their teammates were able to separate them, both teams clearly not wanting to see their star quarterbacks get injured with the season about to start, which is the only reason an all-out brawl didn’t ensue, as the coaches managed to control both sides.
Bercovici would be suspended for the first game of the season for his actions, while Draxel would receive no punishment, as it was deemed acceptable given the gravity of what Bercovici did, at least that’s how South Carolina saw it. Afterwards, Josh refused to apologize for his cheap shot, which was cited as another reason for his suspension.
It wouldn’t be until their sophomore season, a good year and half after that ill-fated encounter that the two would meet on the field for the first time. In a crucial non-conference game, Arizona State traveled to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks in the most highly anticipated game of the young season. As expected, tensions were extraordinarily high leading up to the game, as the Gamecocks were out for blood, having been thinking out this game for over year and how they were going to annihilate Bercovici. ”That loser should know he’s gonna get what’s coming, you don’t do what he did and just expect us to forget about it…no, were coming for him, hell I might even play some defense so I can take a shot at him” said Vincent Draxel prior to the game.

The NCAA issued very clear instructions to both teams that they would be under heavy scrutiny, and any cheap shots or other purposefully executed actions with ill-intent would have severe consequences. This warning fell on deaf ears, however, and the Gamecocks came out of the gate with blood in their eyes. Bercovici was hammered the entire game, a merciless assault from the SC defense that included a head shot and knee shot, resulting in two players getting ejected. Berc popped up each time, and continually goaded the defense. ”Your mother hit me harder than that last night, what is this, pop warner? I’ll be here all game if you guys decide to man the fuck up.”
Bercovici would receive two unsportsmanlike penalties for his abrasive, foul language laced comments throughout the game, completely unrelenting in his smack talk, despite taking hit after hit after hit. Although he refused to admit it after the game, he was in visible pain and took the entire following week of from practice in order to recover from the beat down he took. Draxel, on the other hand, only took a couple big shots, as he benefited greatly from a stout offensive line. Although scouts have indicated multiple times that Bercovici’s attitude is a problem, they were singing his praises following that game. ”That game showed us that he can take a pounding, get back up and continue throwing the ball like nothing happened. That was one of the worst assaults I’ve ever seen a quarterback take, and he took it without complaint, popping up each time and showing his teammates that he wasn’t a quitter. Those are important traits to have, and you could see his teammates rallying around him.”
So it’s easy to imagine the tension surrounding the QB camp, as Bercovici and Draxel would be on the same field together once again. A reporter ran up to Berc as he arrived to the stadium and asked him about Draxel. ”He better not get in my face, I’ll drop that motherfucker” He said, winking at the cute blonde. It took her a moment to realize that he was referencing the movie Step Brothers. Draxel was quite irritated about being asked about Berc. ”Don’t ask me about that coward. Fuck out of my face.”.

Tensions were high as Draxel (left) and Bercovici (right) participated in close proximity during QB camp.[/div]
The NSFL, however, was in no mood to deal with a possible altercation, and issued warnings to both players that any incident would result in immediately being kicked out of the event and possibly fined. Both players heeded this warning, not wanting to miss out on the chance to showcase their talents in such a deep class, which they did, dominating the competition before them. ”Both players have proven that they can handle adversity, take punches and lead from the front. The bigger the stakes, the better they play, they have ice running in their veins, and no matter what is happening around them it doesn’t effect their performance on the field.” said once scout.
The feud between these two top prospects is long from being over, and we will be there every step of the way.
