Well we are at week 10 and with only 4 games left to go we have a somewhat clear picture of what the league will be looking like come playoffs. Here is an analysis and prediction of which teams will be making the playoffs and how far they will go.
Portland Pythons
Starting off with my own team are the Portland Pythons. After a slow start to the season we have really picked up slack. Only losing 1 game in the past 4 which ended in overtime in Tijuana. Portland has really coming together, the offensive trinity of Dwayne Aaron, Blessed Storm, and Glenn McPoyal is proving to be dangerous. The defense has looked stout and the addition of TK3 (Thomas Kane III) has improved the team immensely. In fact, TK3 may be the piece that Portland needed on their defense to really make them scary. They already have Bagwell to anchor the defensive line, and he has been performing well. They have Bobby Ruckus, who is a very good safety. And now they have TK3, who will undoubtedly bolster their line backing core. The Pythons are looking very good and should be able to get into the playoffs with ease, and perhaps even get to the Ultimini.
Tijuana Luchadores
The Luchadores have arguably the best defense there is in the DSFL, with Elvin Enchant and Brian Mills locking down offenses this team is really good. However the offense is where the concern lies. Arbin Asipi Jr has thrown more interceptions thus far and is also boasting the 2nd lowest quarterback rating, only beating out Mike Vick who has only played 4 games. With 5 of his 7 touchdowns going to Antonio Legion Asipi relies heavily on Legion, and perhaps too heavily as he can sometimes force the ball to legion and a defender can make a play. The offense is definitely a concern heading into the playoffs, Tijuana will definitely need to get on track offensively if they plan on making a run for the Ultimini.
San Antonio Marshals
The Marshals have been experiencing difficulties as of late, but they are by no means out of the hunt for the Ultimini. With defensive stud Storm Woods the marshals have debatebly one of the best corners/safetys in the league. Their offense flows through Carter Bush and Willy Nyquist, who are number one and two in rushing yards in the league. However they recently signed Mike Vick who has had a rough go of things. He has thrown three interceptions with 2 touchdowns and has the lowest passer rating of all quarterbacks through his four games. Mike Vick may hinder the Marshals in their playoff run but so they will have to rely heavily on Nyquist and Bush like they have all season. I still have faith in the kid, and I hope he can make a much more positive impact as the season goes on and he progresses...But will he do it soon enough?
Kansas City Coyotes
The #KeepCoyotesInKC movement has been successful so I don't need to make fun of Chicago anymore. However the Kansas City Coyotes have not had much luck regardless this season. Alexandra Jones has resigned as GM (or maybe fired?) and the new GM is hoping to try and turn the team around. There is no doubt that the season is over for Borkus Maximus and Company but perhaps the Coyotes with this new management can pull off some upsets. As for the players in KC, there is one who really catches my eye. Cordell Joshua has been a fantastic player, he currently leads the league in tackles for loss and is first round draft pick material. It is a shame that Kansas City couldn't get it together this season, they have a lot of talent on their team.
Palm Beach Solar Bears :ninja:
These stupid bears of the sun are crazy, they have been dominating recently and are obliterating teams left and right. Before Kckolbe had a mental breakdown because he lost a couple games he said that the bears of the sun were trash without the fuller glitch. However the Solar Bears have proven him wrong in spectacular fashion. With a game coming up against Portland the solar bears are looking to get a steal on the road. Should the sun bears get a win against the Pythons then they would be #1 on the power rankings and make me very uncomfortable having to put a freaking bot team #1...So yeah please lose.
Norfolk Seawolves
The Seawolves are doing alright...and thats pretty much all I have to say about them. They don't have the worst to first story that the sun bears have, they aren't having a disappointing season or great season... They are just meh. I mean they've beaten Portland twice, but the most recent matchup put Portland over Norfolk. So I really don't have much to say except that they should lose to Portland in the playoffs like scrubs :scrub:
Predictions
Palm Beach will miss the playoffs due to their poor start, San Antonio will play against Tijuana in the first round. Also in the first round, Portland will play Norfolk with KC missing the playoffs. Tijuana will beat San Antonio 17-10. My reasoning here is neither offense will get much going on their own, San Antonio will utilize the run to score some points but ultimately poor qb play will be their downfall. The Tijuana defense will force many turnovers and Asipi Jr will be able to capitalize on a few of them. Portland will defeat Norfolk 24-13. Portland will have home field advantage in this match up and be able to overwhelm Norfolk with their strong passing and running attacks. Norfolk will not be able to score enough points on the Portland D to keep pace with the Portland Offense and thus falls.
The Ultimini
TIJ VS POR
Portland will take the dub here on account of many factors. I predict a final score here of 10-7, with defense being a highlight of the game. Although Tijuana has a better defense in my opinion the strong offense of Portland will be able to drive and be able to set up punts that pin Tijuana deep in their own territory. Asipi will be unable to set up any offense whatsoever. The Portland offense will score off good field position courtesy of strong defensive play, and Tijuana will get their sole touchdown off an interception that Asipi will capitalize off.
