So, the NSFL draft is much closer on the horizon than we think it is. If you don't know who I am, my name's Ramero and I am one of the next big prospects in the defensive loaded draft class that is the S8 NSFL Draft class. Alongside me, a couple of other notable names that you'll be seeing on the draft board are the Pennington trio, William Harrison, Brock Weathers III, D.J Riddick, and Beat Meoff along with a host of others. This class has some very top heavy players with a little bit of activity rounding the mid second round and with a few actives possibly even falling into the third round. NSFL teams should be valuing their second round picks immensely as there is a strong chance of them acquiring a very talented player next season.
But today I want to talk about myself, why you should draft me, and where I want to go. I think that making an article talking about these things is a very valuable step in being a top prospect in any sim league, and it also allows general managers to get any idea as to what they can expect when it comes to talking with you prior to draft day. I would like to say right now that to this date no GM has contacted (which is not an issue at all, it's still very early) but that any of my rankings could be changed with the establishment of a line of communication. That being said, there is one team that ranks at the bottom of the list that when it comes to this draft I have absolutely no interest in joining and even with communication this is unlikely to change just due to the type of career I want my player to lead.
Anyways, about me and Rickey Ramero. Ramero is a Colombian cartel lugarimente or lieutenant who works in close companionship with his uncle and godfather Guillermo Ramero who is canonically the general manager of the San Antonio Marshals and the current head of the DSFL player's association (of which he came to power through bribery and money laundering). Ramero attended the University of California before transferring to Florida State for his final year and is posting strong numbers in the DSFL this season with the Marshals. In terms of myself, I have two younger siblings (the middle of which you will meet very soon as he joins the S9 NSFL Draft Class, he's 13 so be merciful) and I'm currently a graduated kid who has no idea what he's going to do with his life. I might go to college, I might not, it kind of just depends on where life takes me. I'm employed in the sales trade, and I travel quite a bit for my work which eats up lots of my spare time but I still find a way to fit in beer league hockey and wednesday/friday night baseball games. I've been pretty active around these forums so I'm sure you've seen my name crop up. Now for the rankings, which is separated into three tiers.
3rd Tier - Pretty much just a no
8th - Orange County Otters

I cannot possibly see myself playing with the Otters while they are still in dynasty mode. I don't have anything against the team, but I have zero interest in playing for a team that has a recent history of domination, and where I don't feel like my play on the team is making a big impact on their success. The Otters seem like a tight nit bunch, and it would be amazing to play alongside outstanding talent like Angus Winchester, Mike Boss, Erlich Burnsman, and Bradley Westfield but where it stands right now it just doesn't appeal to me in general.
2nd Tier - I wouldn't mind you guys
7th - San Jose Sabercats

With their recent trades in the past day, sending out veteran talent and acquiring draft picks, I see San Jose dropping back into a rebuild when they haven't ever even had a strong point to build from. From looking at the teams past season and current roster, the team has seen minimal success in the past few years, being mediocre at best through their history. On a totally seperate point from the Otters idea, I don't want to be on a team that is HEADING IN to a rebuild, but I would rather be on one where I can join with the rebuild already in session, grab a starting role, and boot my way towards the top of the depth chart and see lots of play time all while helping my team grow and I just don't foresee the Sabercats giving me this opportunity anytime in the near future.
6th - Baltimore Hawks

This team falls here mostly because they are kind of just average in my opinion. Nothing about the Hawks stands out to me in any way, with their team being average (this isn't really a compliment) and with them competing in a conference that has two incredibly dynamic and talented squads between Yellowknife and Philadelphia, I see the Hawks soon falling into the same problems that San Jose is running into right now. With teams like Colorado and New Orleans having been dormant for so long but no rising back into being contenders, time is running out for the Hawks and they're either going to have to seize the opportunity that regression could grant them, or prepare for the long haul.
5th - Arizona Outlaws

Since the sim community widely known scandal of ErMurazor, the Outlaws have remained stagnant and have seen minimal success despite still having a couple of key players, and currently the roster just looks like it's not heading anywhere which is a very similar issue to that of Baltimore. Their problem again sources back to the fact that the team isn't under performing or over performing and is instead just having a lack of success needed to boost them into the Ultimus, and the lack of failure needed to land them a top name draft pick (with this draft maybe being the exception due to it being so top heavy).
1st Tier - I would love to play here
4th - Yellowknife Wraiths

With the Yellowknife Wraiths we have something interesting happen that has not been seen in this league before, and will drastically change user retention and the success of this league. When the Yellowknife Wraiths, by my guess, win this season's Ultimus, they will be the first team to fail to defend the trophy and will thus increase league parity. For this reason, the team lands themselves in my top tier. Following their Ultimus victory, I see the Wraiths being hit with a bug that has affected many NHL teams in the past ten years as they get lazy and drop lower in the standings but still qualify for the playoffs before resurfacing. I would love to hop on the team for the resurfacing.
3rd - New Orleans Second Line

New Orleans has so many exciting things going on with their roster, and it's amazing to see how the team has developed. From a massive player scandal only a few seasons ago to suddenly winning games again and boasting some amazing roster talent between Maximus, Broxton, and Mills all from last seasons draft and veteran stars like Charlie Law, Ardie Savea, and Dustin Evans building what will in a short period of time be the number one offense in the league, this team is more exciting than ever before. New Orleans will be a perennial super star in only a few short seasons, and I would love to be a part of the defense which is an area that they will need to develop more before they can truly become elite.
2nd - Phiiladelphia Liberty

I mentioned above that after the Wraiths get their moment in the sun, they will hit a slump and drop down but qualify with the second spot, meaning that either the Hawks or the Liberty will move into the first. With the Hawks not being anything special, this leaves the Liberty to take their place. This is a team that has been about to hit it's prime the past two years but has been hindered by the success of the Wraiths and Otters alike, but with the Otters dynasty likely coming to a close and the Wraiths likely falling from the limelight, it primes the Liberty to be the star in S9. Joining this team for a playoff run and winning an Ultimus on a fresh faced and poised team would be tons of fun, and their defense has a hole where I could perfectly slot in an help while noticing a stat line.
1st - Colorado Yeti

The Yeti are without a win still this season, which means they are almost guaranteed to be holding the first overall pick in the upcoming draft and with a young roster they have unlimited amounts of potential to succeed in the very new future. The Yeti have added some outstanding offensive pieces in the past few season including Howard Miller, Dwayne Aaron, Ryan Applehort, and Mark Grau, all of whom will be quintessential pieces in the domination that is soon to come from Colorado. In terms of where I would slot in at on defense, Ishigawa and Saint make a nice 1-2 punch, but adding me between them will only make the team even stronger. Colorado would boast one of the top front sevens in the league, and would have the window of opportunity presented to them by regression perfectly aligned for a quick run to the top of the standings that I would live to join them on.
