Carryover TPE

I guess my intention with keeping the carryover low-ish would be to not completely dwarf a new player.  Even with a 4% on total TPE earned, that could be somewhere in the vicinity of 60 extra TPE for a 1500 TPE career which is basically an active, 10-season player.  Recreating with 110 TPE and possibly a flourishing bank account could be discouraging to a player new to the site starting from scratch.

Because GMs generally just want to hand over money and keep players, rather than making shrewd decisions and sometimes, having to make difficult ones. Why would any GM WANT to make a tough decision?

Oh I'm in the same boat, I'm a GM. It's one of those what's best for the league vs. what's best for me decisions. As @ItsJustBarry said, I'm only 1/13 of the vote though

For reference, GOMHL rules:

-Contracts have set minimums based on TPE level as follows:
0-99 TPE: $500,000
100-149 TPE: $1,000,000
150-249 TPE: $2,000,000
250-349 TPE: $3,250,000
350-449 TPE: $4,750,000
450-500 TPE: $6,500,000

-These numbers are not maximums and can be higher.
-Max contract value is 12 million per year.
-Contracts will be adjusted if TPE levels have changed each off-season. The cut off date for TPE is at week's end of the draft. Any TPE that was earned before this will not be able to be claimed after the end of this week.

-There are no minimum contract lengths for non rookie players. Rookie contracts carry a 2 season minimum.
-Maximum contract length is 3 seasons.


Cap is 55m at the moment. And we have about 15 or so users per team?

Yeah I can get on board with something similar to this. We'd have to calculate what the new cap should be though, because the current cap is definitely too low if we want to implement something like this

I wouldnt say that. It just that most rules about it so far have too many problem atleast IMO.

Eh. We've already voted for a rule that stop TEs and RBs from being beasts at WRs. That hurt us. The rule summit has worked fine already, trying to change it now because of this contract stuff will cause more problems than solutions.

This rule got passed during off-season yet it eventually got vetoed by a select few before week 1 was played so there's that.

Meh. Just cut all contracts off after 3 seasons and then make people re-sign them. You'll get pushback, sure. But do you want the league to be a joke, or succeed for the long run?

Honestly, complete no-shitter, you gotta balance it. I had some strong ideas in PBE, some of which were good ideas, but destroyed too many relationships and just built a poor image. That shit takes a LOT longer to recover from than a bad salary cap.

You're bringing money back into it. That could work but that wouldn't be my preference. My idea is more of a reward for continued activity and participation.

If you guys want, I can put together a cap proposal using those numbers. It's one of the few things I did in PBE without pissing people off.

Also, to get back to the original idea...

GOMHL has this in place:

We have a hard TPE cap of 500. When you are CAPPED, you may claim a fraction of the TPE you would normally earn for your player and put that towards your next player.


I get that there's no cap here, so that makes it difficult... but you COULD have a player 'retire' and for the remainder of that season, they earn 1 TPE per 'activity' they do. Train for 500k? 1 TPE for your player. Do an AC? 1 TPE. So, you'd get TWO TPE per week, and you'd only have a season to earn that. Cap it at 25 or something.

You wouldn't be able to apply ANY TPE to that 'retired' player any longer.
