Most draft parties are fond memories for NSFL players but it's still painful for Blackford Oakes to think about his own because things were going well at the beginning they were off to a promising start and then all of a sudden out of nowhere Connor Tanner just forced everyone to leave and so it was just Blackford Oakes all alone because the ~TOTALLY ACTIVE AND CONTRIBUTING~ party people had left in a mass exodus which was a pretty mean thing to do I mean come on like why does he get off on something like that it makes no sense and it's just cruel and malevolent and not nice at all so yeah the draft party which is definitely not a metaphor for anything else definitely not the Las Vegas Legion in season 3 or 4 or whenever the mass retirement was this is referring to a literal draft party that Blackford Oakes held when he was drafted to the NSFL and it's an allegory or metaphor or simile or anything else like that definitely not but yeah it sucked but then bovo and tbone showed up to the party and ben returned and the party ended up being even better than before so it really wasn't too horrible of a memory just that middle part sucked but everything ended up being okay in the end.

Well, Ryan has had two different draft day “parties”, so to speak. His first one in the DSFL wasn’t really much, as Applehort was playing in front of two NFL scouts at the time of the draft. It wasn’t really until a few hours later when Applehort was scrolling through Twitter that he learned that he was gonna be a Marshal. He called his parents and then spent most of the rest of the night contemplating whether to sign his contract or try to get drafted into the NFL. The other part of the night was banging his ultra hot girlfriend on the couch. His NSFL draft party was much more formal. Ryan was in attendance, in a nice little tux with a bow tie. He got his tie sent to him from Ken Rosenthal the night before, and was excited to wear it. With his family all sitting down at the reserved table, they watched nervously as six names were called before Ryan, in which he hugged his parents and walked up to the stage, grinning that good ole’ Applehort smile he is famous for. Applehort is a big party guy, but he’s much rather spend the most important moments of his career with his family and parents, who mean everything to him.

Borkus Maximus III didn't really get to celebrate this draft because he is actually also the general manager for the New Orleans Second Line. This is an interested set up that actually works very very well though it does have some people around the league scratching their heads. How can a QB also be a GM? How does that work? But then they look around and notice that numerous other players around the league are also GMs. So basically Borkus Maximus III was hard at work while others were off partying and hanging out and doing whatever it is that players do during the draft. He received many texts from his fellow teammates thanking him for the picks he was making, helping bolster the New Orleans Second Line's defense with all his defensive minded picks which addressed their defensive line and defensive backs and everybody on the team was quite excited and happy with his work and Borkus Maximus III was quite excited and happy with his work but it was still work and work was hard so it was a hard day of work during the NSFL draft that Borkus Maximus III had he spent the draft working hard or hardly working am I right ha ha ha.

In what seems like an extremely short 2 seasons ago, Dwayne Aaron was selected 3rd overall by the Colorado Yeti. It was an awesome experience to get my name called and step onto that podium next to the commissioner, and hold my new Yeti colors out for the cameras. However it was much more nerve wracking than that. Shortly before I was picked, the Yeti swapped picks with the Sabercats to move down to #3 (formally #2) and gained an extra pick in S8. This made me think that for a second, San Jose was moving up to take me. I mean who else would they move up for? It was already pretty well known that the Yeti were going to draft me at 2, due to several pieces of media and a few shoutouts from former Yeti quarterback Nicholas Pierno. But then the cats took Cordell Joshua. He was a good prospect and I had respect for him, but I still wonder why San Jose gave up so much to move up one spot and take someone they would have been able to draft at 3. (jk I know why they did it.) But in the end I have come to love it in Colorado. Will I stay here for my entire career? Most likely not, I feel like I may go ring chasing when regression kicks in, if the Yeti aren't contenders at the time (which they very well could be).

My draft day was certainly one that I’ll never forget. It was a relatively small affair; a few family members and a handful of close friends gathered together in my little one-bedroom apartment to watch the draft on TV. I was pretty sure I was going to go early because it was a small draft class that season. Still, I never want to take anything for granted, so I was prepared to fall unexpectedly if teams didn’t like what they saw. I had done what I could in Chicago, but I knew the time off in between my West Virginia playing days and deciding to join the DSFL might hurt me. Some teams had reached out to me with some interest, but certainly not all of them did.

So there we were, all gathered together, huddled in front of my relatively small screen, waiting for my name to be called. The three-time champion Arizona Outlaws were up first, and I didn’t expect for them to take me. My numbers and performance had been good, but I was pretty much an unknown quantity, so first overall would have been taking a huge gamble. They passed on me, as I expected. Next up was the Las Vegas Legion. They passed as well, deciding to bolster their secondary instead. And then, that final moment, when all of the hard work pays off. With the third overall pick in the Season 4 NSFL draft, the Colorado Yeti select… me. The whole room went crazy, and that was just the beginning of a long and productive journey…

I remember my draft party...wait I didn't have one. Why did I not have a draft party? Well honestly I figured I would not be top 50 in the draft and I didnt want my friends and family to wait and be disappointed when my name got called super late. The Inaugural year was a strange time for everyone. My name was eventually picked in the fifteenth round and picked 87th overall. And honestly I didn't think my name was going to be picked this early. When I finally heard my name called I did jump around a little and hugged my family. The next day, now that I knew I was drafted we had a huge dinner with my family and friends. I knew I wanted to hang out with these people before I went Colorado. While the year after the expansion draft I went a whole lot earlier it definitely felt strange being taken from a team that just drafted me. For this we did not have a party, but there was obviously some excitement as how Philly wanted me to be on their team. And that's the best feeling you get from being drafted, is that you know that the team wants you and is willing to take a chance on you.

Avon Blocksdale is a not a bitter man. Well he kind of is. He's still peeved he went in the 4th round. Don't get him wrong, he's a very happy man to be on the Baltimore Hawks but he remembers very well sitting on his cough with his family and seeing players go before him.

Dermot Lavelle, Blaster Blade, Tim Pest, Vincent Sharpei, Bork Bjornsson, Gregor Clegane, Fox North, Micah Hendrix. The first round came and went without anything from Avon. He wasn't shocked but he was angry.

The comes the second round. Darnell Turner, Brokk Lee, Jordan Yates, Tyler Oles, Kevin Cushing, Ardie Savea, Roman Thomas, Dustin Evans. Wow. Another round and Avon was now beginning to wonder why he was falling. He felt he had a higher ceiling than essentially any other prospect.

Now in the third round we saw some no names. Drew Davidson, Owen Taylor, Enchilada Charlton, Jorge Masvidal, Perry Tucker, Ragner Kronen, Paul DiMirio and Scotty Timlin. Absurd. Embarrassing. Devastation.

Then came the fourth round. Marcus Kane (scrub). Alonzo Charles (major bust). Dieter Koch (awesome teammate, great guys, decent player). And then finally. At 28. Here comes Avon Blocksdale. The player who will go down as one of the biggest steals in 4th round history is selected by the Baltimore Hawks. Avon didn't celebrate. He didn't do much at all. He nodded his head and was proud. He had a list of players and teams to prove wrong. 243

I didn’t attend the Season Seven draft, as I was at a charity event in Chicago that I’d committed to ahead of time. I was still being represented by my old manager Ben Longshaw at the time, and having been a part of the inaugural draft for the National Simulation Football League, he knew something about how special the experience was. So, although I’d tried to downplay the whole thing and said I would focus on the charity event alone, he made sure to have his phone ready to field calls from teams’ general managers, and had even arranged one of every team’s jerseys to be there at the event, ready for me to sign and raffle off once my name was called. Well, we didn’t have to wait long, as I was picked by the Colorado Yeti with the first overall pick in the draft, so I signed the beautiful maroon gear and put it up for auction and raised a whole lot more for the charity that night. It was a special honour being taken with the first pick, but also combining that with my goal of helping people. As my exposure in Colorado and around the country (and hopefully the world) increases, I’m hoping to continue those efforts.

Mason Brown’s NSFL draft party was one of a kind. Being this was his first draft party, because he chosed to stay out of the DSFL draft to help his wife with their daughter. It was at his home towns Bar, Comfrey Bar and Grill. Mason knew he was not going 1st overall, because that was Colorado Yeti’s pick and Mason had released a stupid article about how Colorado’s GM was horrible in every way and he has learnt to regret. There was a small chance of him going 2nd overall to the Hawks but that ended up being stud Tight end Verso L’Alto. Then Mason based off of his talks with the Orange County Otter’s officials there was a chance of him going 3rd overall but that was Cornerback Vladimir Fyodorovich. Now Mason’s hopes of being took in the first round because 3 picks were Yeti’s then when Philadelphia Liberty’s pick cam up they ended up trading back to first pick in the 2nd round. Then the next pick was the Otter’s and Mason thought for sure this would be him because when he talked with the Orange County Otter’s General Managers they told him for sure that they would not let him slip into the 2nd round and they ended up keeping their word, but Mason as soon as he heard he was an Orange County Otter Called his new General Manager and said that he was going to stay down in the DSFL for one more season because there was unfinished business for him, being taken out of the playofs early by Kansas City. And when Mason was on the phone the Owner, Allen Barnes, came up behind him and poured a whole keg of Coors Light on top of him so as Mason was on the phone the Orange County Otters General Manager heard out of now where “Jesus Christ you bastard you shouldn’t’ve done that!”. You should’ve heard the Orange County Otter’s GM “what!?! I thought you said you wanted to play for us!”, then Mason had to explain the whole thing to the General Manager on a different phone because Mason’s was wrecked by the beer. Mason later that night actually got pulled over by a cop who congratulated him on being taken in the first round and that I inspired his son, the Wolverine’s beast quarterback, Ben Dover (no one steal that is my next player) to try harder at football because I was the first player in my area to make it big in any sports. That was all he stopped Mason for, but if the cop would’ve looked he would’ve saw Mason actually didn’t have his seatbelt on. Mason doesn’t know if the cop noticed it and ignored it or just was just that blind. Mason also had a bit of alcohol in his system but he continues to count his blessings everyday. Now Mason Brown hopes to do great things with a soon to be crippled Orange County Otter’s team.
