The most interesting thing about the S2 Draft is that I actually don’t remember it. I’ll go a bit OOC with this one as the more interesting story is the one behind the scenes, but I had just joined the site in late June. I was a fantasy football addict waiting for preseason to start and scouring r/fantasyfootball for any small nugget of information that I could. And suddenly, a post comes up advertising a football simulation league where you could be an actual player. That sounds cool. Something to do while I wait for fantasy to begin. I check it out and decide to make a Running Back. I scroll through the site, but have no idea what I’m looking at. I think I did a few activity checks and my first free training, but I don’t know how else to get TPE. I don’t know anything about the league yet, so I don’t want to embarrass myself and write an article or guess predictions. It’s my first league and I don’t know anyone on the site. I’m lost. Work gets really hectic in July. I’m on the road most of that month. Before I know it, I stop logging in. I’m too busy. I’ll check back once things wind down.
Randomly, I do get curious and log back in around the end of July. I have like 5 messages from some guy named Bzerkap. They’re interested in me. They have questions for me. Oh look, they drafted me in the 12th round. Can’t blame them, though. Inactive RB with 60 TPE. I guess I’m lucky there was even a 12th round to begin with. I guess I now have people in this league I can talk to now, so I start asking a billion questions. They’re telling me about Point Tasks and player build ideas and I’m just kind of going with it because I’m still trying to figure out what I’m doing. They also seem like good dudes, though. These guys went out on a limb to grab me when I didn’t give them any reason to, so I’ll try to pull my weight and make them glad they drafted me. We‘ll see if I stick with this…

(Note for the Rookies: Everything in that first paragraph is bad advice. I was new and nervous about embarrassing myself, but don’t worry about that. It’s fine. It’s okay to embarrass yourself. It just means people are more likely to remember you. Do the game predictions. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know the teams. It’s a 50/50 guess, anyway. Do media and PTs. If you don’t know a lot about the league yet, just write about yourself. You can learn about the league later. The point of the league is to do things, so do every activity you can. You’ll work out the details later.)
