Will kicker bots be necessary soon? Probably. But it does appear that there is interest in being a kicker still, just that the people who are go inactive very quickly. I can't say I know how many people signed up each year before hand (the chart only has non-retired players I think) but 2 or 3 a year seemed pretty healthy.
fortunately you don't need a lot of TPE to be a useful kicker
Also, 3 a year is probably bad for kicker retention in my mind. 3 a year go to 3/4 DSFL teams, who the previous season also got a kicker, who may still be semi-active, and suddenly you’ve got to split snaps of punting vs. field goals vs. kickoffs and that kind of sucks
Idk if that’s actually happening, but just a thought that popped into my head
In the end I think It’s about limited professional league spots
