This point task regards hypothetical deadline deals, those that are supposed to shake up a franchise. Thinking up fake trades is fun and all, but the San Jose and Orange County GMs made my job a whole lot easier for this point task when they swung a deal right before the deadline.
San Jose receives:
QB Ethan Hunt
Orange County receives:
DT Bert Metas
I was certainly sad to see Bert Metas leave, as he was a very adept defensive stopgap, but I know he will have success in other places as well, so I wish him the best! The real part I want to discuss, of course, is the 'Cats acquisition of Ethan Hunt, my favorite of the three Otters QBs. The SaberCats had struggled mightily with Jameis Christ at the helm, earning a 1-7 record, the lone win coming against the Arizona Outlaws. But since Hunt has become a member of the squad, they have won two and lost two. If San Jose defeats their final two opponents, then they can finish the year with Hunt having an above .500 record, a major stepping stone towards the future for the team.
I have a lot of confidence in our new quarterback, and I think this deal was for the best with an eye to the future!
