I see no reason that a 200 word written PT should be treated differently from the hundreds of other PTs that are just blatantly copied from LRs or just from the threads themselves, what, just because you had to string some words together? Bullocks.

I think it's quite obvious why they're different and why they should be treated differently. But, to spell it out:

Predictions: Not against the rules to copy, and unenforceable as there are only so many different prediction combinations, and especially once you take into account team strength and HFA, there are a limited number of reasonable responses.

Trivia: Not against the rules to copy, and unenforceable because there is usually only one correct answer.

Written PTs: Against the rules to copy people's responses, and enforceable because there are an infinite number of acceptable responses.

If the format of the PTs were changed, then it would be reasonable to question why some were treated differently. But whether or not the formats of the PTs should be changed is a different discussion, and not something you seem to be advocating for.

To clarify, I do feel the $2m fine is excessive though.

Well, like I said, trivia and predictions used to have a disclaimer saying if you didn't delete the quotes, you wouldn't receive the TPE. But you wouldn't be fined for copying. Trivia is 4 TPE, predictions can be up to 4 depending on the day. So to slam someone with a $2M fine for doing the same thing that's allowed for the other PTs that give you more TPE is moronic. Hence my whole "punishment should fit the crime" stance.

That said, I think the fine should be reduced to $1M. Every other aspect of the punishment was reduced by one-half, so the fine should be reduced too.

I agree with you steel. Seems like a strange arbitrary line to draw to come down so hard on PT. Should be handled on a case by case basis with your first offense having relatively minor punishment if found guilty.
