...the idea that research is inherently harder than creativity is a slap in the face of any fiction writer on the planet.
I fell like you’re taking this article like more of a personal attack on players and their creative writing. I believe that it does take a bit more work in order to study and dig into the math before even getting to an article. I’m not saying that creative articles are not hard to write or that there isn’t effort put into the great stories that people write about their players and I want them to keep writing them. I feel that there just should be something more for those putting research into their topic and using analysis that takes some time over the fast stories that are made about players going out for hot dogs.
I do not mean to sound like I’m attacking creative writing or the player stories and apologize if you feel that way. The reasoning I have behind “cheapening the experience” of creative stories is to try and keep from having a crazy amount of not so creative stories written out there. There are some amazing player stories written by wonderful writers out there that I have no issue with that definitely add to the experience of the roleplaying part of the league. One suggestion I’ve seen was to pay out more for the statistical articles that require a lot of research which could be an idea.
Obviously I’m not a smart member of the league so my suggestion wouldn’t work at all but I wanted to give something instead of just complaining about a problem.
