Thanksgiving

With the late breaking news on the week’s schedule, Ryan was stoked to learned he would be receiving 3 off days over the holiday. Having a short flight home to Reno from Tijuana, this made his mini vacation home seem like a week. Sierra needed the escape from the grind of the DSFL schedule and teammates for a little refresh. Seeing his parents and extended family over a couple events, such as Thanksgiving dinner and his father’s birthday lunch, provided him with the grounding and reboot his body and mind needed to refocus on the stretch run of the season. Helping his father smoke one 22 pound turkey and roasting another 17 pound turkey, provided just enough meat to feed the 35 members of his family’s dinner party. The abundance of side dishes included all the favorites, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, baked pineapple, stuffing, and sparkling cider.
The break was the perfect opportunity to get refocused on the remaining 4 games and possible playoff run to finish the season.

Written: Must Include 150 Words. Thanksgiving was this Thursday - Write about how your player celebrated Turkey Day, what all did he have to eat or maybe who he was with.

Turk Turkleton spent his turkey day helping out at the local homeless shelter. Him and the helpful volunteers of his charityprogram 'anime for everyone' spent the whole day cooking up anime inspired meals for the homeless. When it was time for dinner, the visitors were greeted by a lovely cooked meal and for entertainment tv's were hooked up with differnt animes playing on them.

Many of the visitors were filled with joy when they could finally watch some anime after having faced hard years.

One visitor had to say: "I started watching Naruto, but was never able to see how it finished". "Today I finally was able to watch the ending to my favorite series."

After dinner there was even a fun little game of backyard football for those interested. It was truely a fantastic day for all involved. Turkleton hopes to be able to hold more of these charity dinners next year.

Avon Blocksdale had a wonderful thanksgiving. He spent his time with most of teammates, since they had a game right around thanksgiving. You should see the amount of food that they are. They had a giant turkey with a lot of stuffing, they had mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, mac and cheese, lots of gravy, biscuits, green bean caserole and and plenty of other amazing food options. Of course, the dinner wasn't the only thing. They also had dessert. The large number of amounts of pie is amazing. They had pecan pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie and cherry pie.

In spite of there being a ton of food, NONE of the food went to waste. The giant men of the Baltimore Hawks destroyed the food there. It was an absolute demolition of food.

In addition to eating all the food he did, Avon Blocksdale went to the local Baltimore Soup Kitchen to serve food to the under privileged in the community.

Thanksgiving is a big deal in the Taylor family. Everyone gathers at their grandparent’s house for a massive, buffet style dinner. Everyone is expected to bring two dishes, and there is always plenty of leftovers to be divided among the families. The reason Thanksgiving is such a big deal is because the Taylor family is gigantic. Owen Taylor, is the son of one of seven children, who each has a family of their own. Not counting Taylor, there is a total of seventeen cousins, many who are now old enough to be married and have started a family of their own. When it’s all said and done there are forty-eight people gathered in the basement for a massive feast. Being that large a group, there’s always going to be a few people you don’t see eye-to-eye with, so there’s always a fair amount of heated conversations after dinner. This year, Taylor will be headed shopping on black Friday early in the morning to find his daughter a damn Tickle Me Elmo, so they’ll be headed home earlier than usual. All-in-all, it’s a pretty enjoyable time.

It's been a while since we heard the last news from the Wraiths safety Clee Hardrool. But finally we cathed him at his hometown where he was preparing for the Thanksgiving dinner. This time, he decided to be creative and celebrate this event in his parents home...well giving that Clee likes to celebrate almost every another event with his friends, this decision indeed was surprising.

We're not going to get in detalis how he spat in his beloved jar, cause we already know that's his tradition. Then the whole family started to eat the turkey. Well, nothing special. Besides the fact how Clee was eating the turkey - he is so big-mouth-greedy motherfucker that he ate his half of meat in like 5 minutes and even that wasn't enough for this fatso.

Then the debate between Clee and his brother happened - about rap music and Yellowknife chances on the Ultimus Cup. It ended with Clee puting his drunk brother sleep with a tackle and then the Thanksgiving dinner was over.

Unfortunately, being so far from home, Eric Kennedy was unable to make the trip back to New Orleans to see his family for Thanksgiving, so he joined a few other players from the Wraiths for a Thanksgiving celebration away from home. He would have loved to have given his teammates a taste of that famous Cajun style cooking, but being a fairly poor cook, he opted to leave the cooking to others.

All of the Thanksgiving staples were there at the table. Turkey. Ham. Stuffing. Mashed Potatoes. Yams. Even the veggies. The team tried to keep it balanced as they mostly try to watch their weight. Especially Kennedy, who worked so hard to lose weight last offseason and has had to work just as hard to keep it off. However, this was a day for celebration and the team did just that, taking the time to enjoy the day. Of course, they have much to be thankful for, recently taking 1st place in their division in a year that everyone had wrote them off. Here’s hoping that, next Thanksgiving, the Wraiths will have an Ultimus to be thankful for.

Fucking PR events. Cushing, attention whore that he was, was generally fond of photo ops, but naturally this one was a little different. For this event, headlines were still generally focused on his recent arrest and still-pending charges for public indecency. There were even some members who felt that Cushing had no place volunteering around families where children might be scarred by him once again deciding to pull out his member in public. After considerable consultation, Cushing eventually relented, cancelling his involvement in the door to door needy family food donation event, citing “unfortunate circumstances.” Instead, he volunteered at a food bank, mainly working in the back stocking items. It was shit work, and the only breaks were for a couple of photos with the other volunteers and organizers, but it gave him something positive to have published alongside the more popular stories and brought a small amount of public sympathy his way.

Mayran Jackson had Thanksgiving dinner with a bunch of his San Jose Sabercats and their families. All the families got together at Mayran's house in south central Oakland bay to dig into a couple huge turkey's. One of the Turkey's was named Josh Garden and they carved that one up quite nicely. The other was a personal Turkey cooked by Mayran Jackson himself named Stormblessed. Both Turkey's were the opposite of their namesakes; so they were good.

San Jose teammates especially loved the flavour of the Garden Turkey as it tasted good with herbs, but they did say the Turkey lacked parity; but that's no surprise.

The Stormblessed Turkey started out tasting pretty good but quickly dropped off just like the Football player of the same name. Both Turkey's were a big hit as one came from Arizona and was shipped in by the dishonest GM of the Outlaws. The Sabercats tested it anthrax though.

Every Turkey day Jonathan travels down to visit his family in south Florida. Thanksgiving morning he takes his mom out for brunch at any restaurant that happens to be open. After taking his mom out Jonathan goes to his house and prepares some classic good old mac and cheese and cornbread for his Thanksgiving party with his dads family later in the evening. On his way to the thanksgiving party Jon calls all his friends, relatives, and teammates to wish them a happy thanksgiving. Once he gets to the party the family watches the Cowboys play (and get smacked) after the game they sit around a table and say blessings over their food then one by one each person tells what they are thankful for. After all that they all feast on all the different foods brought from everyone and have desert after. To finish of the day they go and watch the final Thanksgiving game.

Darren Morris loves the holiday season, especially its kickoff on American Thanksgiving. He spends the days leading up to the holiday not spending time with family and friends, but rather decorating his place with as much cheap and ridiculous holiday items he can find. His favourite is a giant inflatable Turkey that he puts in the lawn every year and that terrifies the local children. The "Turkey Man" is his go-to neigbourhood nickname. But he is also quick to put up christmas lights, other decorations, and begin the holiday season on time and in full force.

Come the actual holiday, Darren Morris spends it with family and close friends. Although he does not cook (at all, the few times he has tried were disasters and near fatalities), his continues to rely on his mother's thanksgiving recipes. It's become a tradition to throw the ball around with nieces and nephews and try an avoid hitting the giant inflatable turkey.
