Six games into the season, it seems like Tyler Oles and Mike Boss both have a solid chance to beat King Bronko's record of 44 passing touchdowns in a single season. Oles has 20 and Boss is not far behind at 19. Boss has been taking advatange of his weapons in Westfield, Crush, Phelps, and Atwell to also potentially beat his own league record of a 103.8 passer rating. He has not thrown a single interception this season, helping him achieve an astounding rating of 110.2 so far. Oles has thrown six interceptions, but much like Boss has an abundance of key players like Dimiro, Garden, North, and Bush to catch his passes. There's plenty of games left to play, and if these players maintain their current pace, one or even both of them could surpass the record Bronko set. The race should be pretty close, but even an individual game could decide who can get past the magic number of 44.

When it comes to setting records, Mike Boss is the benchmark for that. Pretty much every record is held by the Otter QB. If he goes at his current rate, He has a shot at beating several of his own records. Firstly, and most impressively, is the QB rating record. The record is 103.8 but he is currently at a higher 110.2. A record that you don't see in the stat sheet, but is still very much a possible reality for Mike Boss is the fewest interceptions in a single season by a QB who started all 14 games. The previous record holder for this stat is King Bronko in Season 3 with 8. Through 6 games, Mike Boss has yet to have a single pass picked off. Mike Boss has always had great years, but regression is coming and there's only so many he has left. This might be the last chance for Boss to make his dent in the record books.

In the NSFL, there is one man who holds ownership of a record category all his own. And that is Wraiths Quarterback Mat Akselsen, the league’s top Rushing QB by far. And it’s not even close. Akselsen’s quickness and ability to read opposing defenses combined with a coaching staff that knows how to build a team around him has produced great results for the Wraiths so far. After 6 games, Akselsen has over 5x as many rushing yards as the next high closest QB and 5x as many TDs. Akselsen seems to be the only competition for himself, but he still finds a way to keep improving even as an aging QB. It’s expected that the record books will be kind to this stellar QB, but when it comes to the rushing game, he’s in a class of his own. And it’s going to be a long time before anyone is ready to challenge that mantle.

Admittedly, the bar is very low, but Kevin Fitzpatrick is on pace to shatter the San Antonio Marshals records for passing yards and passing touchdowns, with a side of most wins as well. Despite 2 games in a row with no touchdowns due to the most horrible depth charts the league has ever seen, Fitzpatrick has already thrown for 5 TDs with 8 games remaining, needing just 3 more over more than half the season. In addition, he has already passed for 1120 yards in 6 games. That means, over the next 8, he just needs to average 136.5 yards per game. Basically, he could play as badly as he did weeks 5 and 6 and still break the yardage record. San Antonio has had the worst QB play over the past 5 years, so the bar is ridiculously low for Fitzpatrick, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be fun to clear it.

Verso L'Alto is one of the leagues top tight ends, at this point this is indisputable--which is something incredible for only his second season in the league. Of course, this might have something to do positional disparity, but you don't need to tell him that. Despite these successes, it doesn't look like he will be breaking any league records any time this season--the Hawks offense is just too good to be run completely through him. Instead, the player that has caught the eye of Epictitus Milburn, the GM of the Tijuana Luchadores, is free agent pick up, Kyle Corbett. In fact, in only his second game he has proven that he is out to set and break records by making 7 of 8 field goals IN ONE GAME. He is on track to smash the record for most field goal attempts and completions in one season, and he'll have a decent shot at breaking the record for most extra points in one season if the Tijuana leadership has anything to say about it. At this point, these records are near certainties and easy predictions. The hot take? Kyle Corbett breaks the record for the highest draft pick used on a kicker (not sure what that is, but I'm sure it's not too hard to look it up and I'm sure Corbett breaks it).

I’m not going to talk about one player for this, but an entire team. The Orange County Otters have a chance to do something I don’t think may ever be done again: have 5 WRs with 1000+ yards. Right now, after 6 games, the Otters Receiving leaders are: Westfield (572), Atwell (554), Crush (456), Yates (296), and Phelps (232). With 8 games to go, it definitely seems like Westy, Atwell, and Crush will top 1,000 yards a piece, which is an awesome feat in itself. While Phelps/Yates both have some work to do they’re both VERY capable players of just tearing up the league in the second half and putting up yardage. Granted, I don’t think it’ll happen at this current rate, but a change or two to offensive philosophies could make it so. More than likely, we’ll just end up with the three receivers over 1,000 yards, which again is nothing to sneeze at. (155)

The obvious pick for record breaking potential is Luchadores rookie kicker Kyle “Sharp-Shooter” Corbett with 19 of 20 Field Goals made at this mid way point of the season, heads and shoulders above the rest of the DSFL. If he is the keep up this pace he will crush the field goal record into pieces, and help the Luchadores get their first championship come playoff time.

Another, maybe less obvious choice, is Luchadores rookie wide receiver X. Flash. Currently Flash has 2 receiving TDs and 506 receiving yards (leads the league in yards so far). The season record is 7 receiving TDs and 1273 receiving yards. While Flash has a ways to go to break this record, both the players in the locker room and the head office of the Luchadores see Flash only getting better as the season continues. Further, with the recent WR addition of Stone Hans, the Luchadores will make defenses have to cover 3 active WRs, making room for Flash sneak in more receptions.

One person who is definitely on pace to put away a record would be none other than my teammate Ben Urlacher. I feel a little bad because when I came to San Antonio I kind of took this guy's spot, but to be fair I did make a case in putting Ben as a pass rushing defensive end last season. Anyways that's the past and now in the present with my switch to defensive end, Urlacher is back out at linebacker and he's making the most of his abilities and return to a starting role as he's bursting through opposing offensive lines with ease and is finding that quarterback. He may be lacking when it comes to coverage, but overall this dude is extremely solid and has a nose for signal callers. I may take a little bit of the credit as most teams are putting their tight end on my side of the field to double team me now and that's allowing an easier path for Urlacher, but whatever it is it's working like a charm because Ben is going to smash this record and be his for a good time!

Gus T.T. Showbiz has a good chance to break a lot of DSFL passing records this season. The Kansas City Coyotes started off as a pretty run dependent team, but they've made a switch in more recent weeks to put the game and the team in Showbiz's hands.

Showbiz's strong arm, accuracy and football IQ are starting to really show up with his increasing amount of throws in games. Through the first two weeks, Showbiz only threw 30 times a game. However, since then, he's seen an increase in attempts. These added attempts give Showbiz a real shot at the Passing Completions, Passing Attempts, Passing Yards, and just about every other passing record out there. The DSFL hasn't seen many high-end quarterbacks, so all the records are attainable.

After the slow first couple weeks, Showbiz has his work cut out for him if he wants to break the records, but the Coyotes seem to be entrusting the team success to Gus's arm. We'll see by the end of the season if Showbiz can do it.
