With the run up to trade deadline day, it's no surprise that quite a few of the rumours have surrounded an outgoing move for one of the Colorado Yeti's three running backs - Boss Tweed, Kieran O'Connell and Luke "Lieutenant Smash" Tiernan.
The Yeti had a stellar start to the season, but after losing three games on the trot, they need to do something to stop the rot and having three good running backs on the roster means that they have trade value to shore up the gaps in other parts of the roster. If we examine the running back stats of the league as a whole, who is apparent is that the 4-6 Baltimore Hawks are struggling in the run game. Baltimore are currently using two running backs Marcus Robinson and Levon Novel, neither of whom are having stellar seasons. Robinson is seeing the bulk of the carried (166 after week 10) but is averaging a paultry 3.4 yards per carry. His teammate, Novel, has ball carried 59 times fewer (107 in total) with a slightly better average yards per carry @ 3.7 yards per carry. This means that both players are currently sitting outside of the top ten in a 6 team league, it's no wonder they have a losing record. Conversely the Yeti have two running backs inside of the top ten (when taking average yards per carry as our metric), Irishman Luke Tiernan is sitting in 9th place on 3.8 yards per carry on only 77 handles, while teammate Boss Tweed is rocking a 4.2 yards per carry average on 101 carries. Where the Yeti have seen tougher times of late is in protecting their star QB Logan Noble, during week 10 against against the the Orange County Otters, Logan was sacked a massive seven times. And so it is expected that Vincent Sharpei the offensive lineman that played college ball with the Army, and who is expected to be drafted early on in the second season draft, will be traded to the Yeti in exchange for Luke Tiernan. While the Hawks pick up a hard working running back in Tiernan, as they look to rebuild for the seasons ahead, the Yeti will see an improvement in their o - line for their push for season one glory. The Colorado Yeti approach the trade deadline with one goal in mind - moving a runningback for a player at a position of weakness. The young runningbacks of the Yeti are among the very best in the league but the touches the players get are limited due to having to share the rock so often. The group of Boss Tweed, Kieran O'Connell, and Luke Tiernan would look like a three headed terror to most teams, but having to share the ball between all three so often breeds inconsistency among the group.
So the Yeti are no looking to make a trade that benefits their future plans and gets one of the three runningbacks into a more beneficial situation. One that could be mutually beneficial for both teams involved would be one of the trio of Tweed, O'Connell, and Tiernan and Linebacker Ricky Mills to the Baltimore Hawks in exchange for Stephen Harrison. Adding another solid linebacker to the Yeti while immediately having a high level runningback step in and become the starter for the Hawks. Mills would fill the hole left by the departure of Harrison and the Yeti would immediately be able to field a featureback while having a change of pace back that would make their appearance for big gains. ![]() ![]() (227 Words)
The Yellowknife Wraiths have sent DT Trent Bender and a second round pick to Colorado in return for a package of players, in an attempt to shore up offensive weaknesses that have been holding the team back.
In return for the NSFL's joint sack leader, the Wraiths will recieve RB Luke Tiernan, who will slot in as Yellowknife's #2 running back and DJ Law, who will primarily play in the slot. The Wraiths offense has been potent, but runs through 4 players - the Yellowknife coaching staff and QB Chris Orosz has been reluctant to hand the ball off to anyone but Bubba Nuck despite having 3 RBs on the roster, and wideouts not named Garden or LeClaire have 6 receptions between 3 players. Tiernan has rushed for 298 yards, 12th among tailbacks, but holds joint 5th place for rushing TDs, proving that he has been trusted in clutch situations for Colorado. Bender currently jointly holds the lead for sacks in the NSFL's inaugural season with 11, but has rarely been seen in the Yellowknife Wraiths gym. In dealing him away Yellowknife is clearly indicating their belief that another of the team's 4 Defensive Tackles can step into the interior line with a similar effectiveness, while hopefully giving him a new start in the temperate lands of Colorado. In a string of jaw dropping moves the former Baltimore Hawks have officially thrown in the towel.
Deal #1 ![]() Trade Damien West WR Marcus Robinson HB To ![]() For Luke Tiernan HB S2-2nd Rnd pick ------------------ Deal#2 ![]() Trade Matthew Peterson CB S2-2nd Rnd pick(Colo.) To ![]() For S2-1st Rnd pick S3-1st Rnd pick (contingent on a Wraiths S1 Championship) Or S2-3rd Rnd pick ---------------------------- The Statement from the Hawks front office was that the team has not met the expectations of ownership and with the impending relocation of the franchise that more moves would be considered during the offseason. Currently no names have been mentioned but, Baltimore sports radio has been rampant on moving Christmas to San Jose for two tanks of aviation fuel for the Hawks team jet. When asked specifically about the trading of Marcus Robinson and Damien West the team issued a blanket statement thanking the named players for their time and effort here in Baltimore and it is hoped that this move will reenergize both Robinson and West and motivate the remaining players currently on the Hawks roster. The long rumored deal to move Peterson allows the Wraith to compete for the championship and gives the Hawks the ability to rebuild through the draft post haste. The last trade of the S1 Season.
The Baltimore Hawks give up; Turk Turkleton Erasmo Broadway S2 Round 2 draft pick For From the Orange County Otters; George Wright Jr The rights to Josh Bercovici Why this trade works Although the Orange County Otters have a rookie kicker and a rookie punter both of these players are unproven and an unknown quality however with Turk Turkleton they get a great all round kicker to fill the role while their rookies improve their game during the rest of the first season to come in to take his place or be traded to another team. They also would not trade away a player like George Wright Jr for a kicker no matter how good that kicker is so the Baltimore Hawks would have to offer up something extra so adding a top Linebacker will sweeten the trade so much more for the Otters especially one with such experiences as being a GM will really help the locker room. Baltimore are also in need of a backup quarterback and someone who can push Scrub Kyubee to be the best possible quarterback so having the rights to Bercovici traded to them to offer him a contract would be a good idea and to trade his rights for a pick in the second round would make a lot of sense for Orange County. With the season winding down in San Jose, it's time for the front office to face the music. Things are not going well and massive changes need to be made if the team will be competitive next year.
It follows for all sensible observers that the season's record is a referendum on cats generally. Scientific studies and empirical evidence abound that cats are the inferior choice of pet, and it would seem that they are an inferior choice of mascot as well. If San Jose is the ever succeed, they're going to need to use other mascots while trying to pass them off as cats. The first and most obvious choice is their league rival the Otters. It's not too much of a stretch in certain circumstances. Just look at this photo taken during preseason running back camp. Here Bowers, Wiley and Jenkins are exhausted after some interval sprints. ![]() The similarities are uncanny! Need further proof? Check out these photos of linemen Marcus Boyd and Tim Tebow lounging in their downtime. ![]() Here's a studio photograph of Robert Phelps and Bailey Cook posing before a joint interview. ![]() It is the learned opinion of this professional sports pundit that massive trades between the two teams begin to shore up the inherent weakness of cats. *Apologies if this is not in keeping with the spirit of the thread. Not knowing anything or having experience with the teams, I thought I'd have some fun ![]()
With the playoffs race inching ever closer and the possibility of not making it to the first official post-season the Yellowknife Wraiths are looking to make a run for the Championship from the get go. Feeling that their Quarterback situation is not at its best the Wraiths decide to make a Blockbuster deal with the Arizona Outlaws that would take the media by storm.
To Yellowknife ![]() To Arizona ![]() Why is this a blockbuster? Well, the Quarterback is the most important position on the field as they spring the offense and dictate the pace of the match. They also tend to be vocal people in the locker room, inspiring confidence and leading by example. It is a well known fact that Bercovici is not satisfied being the backup QB in Arizona and that Chris Orosz has been shaky when it comes to clutch moments in tight games, which might become a liability during the playoffs. On the other hand, Bercovici is eager to prove himself to be the QB to dominate the league for years to come. The main concern of a move like this is whether Bercovici would be able to learn the Wraiths offensive playbook fast enough to impact the team immediately. ![]() [OPTION]Height: 6'3"

Well I thought this was obvious. After being completely wow'd by Draxel's Week 10 performance against the new and improved SaberCats. Teams have started to look very closely at, as well as lust over, the MVP-track Quarterback. There is one team in particular which is quarterback needy but attempting a Post-Season run. That team is the Orange County Otters...
I came back after the week 11/12 games: Now, Draxel has even defeated the Otters in a tremendously convincing victory. The Otters GM even came out and said hope impressed he was by the Arizona Outlaws. I thoroughly feel that the Orange County Otters are enticed enough, for prides sake, and so they can finally get rid of Boss man, to trade a Star player from their own roster to the Outlaws in hopes of getting their hands on good Quarterback play. The trade is simple, the Arizona Outlaws will give up their MVP Quarterback for the League's star Offensive Lineman Angus Winchester. Crazy? It seems so. Daring? Of course? Impossible? No. This trade exchanges two players who have played exceptionally at their positions. Draxel is probabaly one of the most pressured Quarterbacks in the league, yet he lead the league in passer rating (as of Week 10), and had lead his team, The Arizona Outlaws, to an 8-4 record. The best in the NSFL. Angus Winchester, well his reputation exceeds himself. He is the million dollar man. He leads the league in Pancakes (53) yet hasn't allowed 1 single sack. It's a monstrous feat, which all of the Linemen, whether Offensive or Defensive, look up to him for. The next person to allow no sacks with the highest amount of pancakes is a TE, with just 13 ( Tkachuk, J. of the Arizona Outlaws; I'm sure they'd get along nicely). This would be a trade for the ages and it would be amazing to see how it would affect each teams playoff power. Oh, you think I am just making this up? It could be happening right now, and no one knows about it, yet.... @Shaka @ErMurazor @ADwyer87 @701 @adam2552 @`BenLongshaw` @timeconsumer [div align=\"center\"]
