(S7) - PT 4 - Trade Deadline

I’ve already had the opportunity to play with some legends of this league. Boss Tweed and Johnathon Saint are two of the best players that I could ever hope to join on the field and in the locker room. But there’s one more legend I’m close to who, I believe, would help me tear it up on the field: the San Jose Sabercats legend, Dan Miller.

Unassuming in name and personality, Dan is nevertheless a complete killing machine in the middle of the defensive line. Opposing quarterbacks fear him, and opposing running backs do whatever they can to avoid him. This is not to mention the fact that we have become extremely close friends over the years. We play games together, online and in person, and our friendship goes back to before we had even joined the league.

In that same vein, though he has yet to play a snap in the league, I’ve also become friends with up-and-coming tight end Balthazar Crindy. He’s a good guy, and another one that I’d be honored to take the field with. Not only do I believe that he’ll fly under the radar as far as on-field impact is concerned; he’s also a hell of a dungeon master in the locker room.

A great fit for a young quarterback is someone who knows the ropes or the field in this case. A veteran proven receiver that will give the young quarterback tips and will also deliver reputation. When the qb throws that ball in the direction of his wide receiver he expects him to catch it. Some of those balls are errant and can’t be caught, However if you have an area that you can catch the size of a large barn door, he can’t miss. All you have to do then is don’t throw it directly at the receiver. Bradley Westfield would gladly play for the Colorado Yeti and the young qb Applehort. There is a lot of potential in the team. It does not need a complete overhaul, but changes are definitely needed. Applehort may have been asked to take the reins too early but that doesnt mean he still can’t succeed. Eventually Westfield will fade away and retire like all great players. He likely won’t experience playing with Applehort instead of against. However if the opportunity arose, who knows what the Yeti and Otters might do. Good luck Applehort and may your GM make the moves (not necessarily this one) to allow you to succeed and take your team to the playoffs.

Written: Must include 200 words. With the trade deadline fast approaching many players have a player/team they want to play for. Whether it's a legend, a team they watched growing up, or just a player they've grown to respect watching from afar. Write about the player/team you'd like to play with/for as if whoever you picked would be on the team tomorrow no questions asked.

Vincent Sharpei has had an odd career to say the least, starting off as a S2 offensive lineman, he quickly sought out a change to the defensive side of the ball in the wake of the offensive line robot takeover. The change was not one anybody expected, more of a result of the pressure of the NSFL public being placed on the current NSFL Head Office.

In his seasons he's quickly established himself as one of the leagues premier linebackers and while you could argue his stats are inflated due to his tenancy on the San Jose Sabercats, you have to remember this man is not a natural linebacker. He dropped a lot of weight to go from offensive line to doubling as a linebacker. While many have pointed out Sharpei's drop in development the last few years he has clapped back to claims with "I've maxed out my needed stats" to which reporters were left dumbfounded. What is this? Some sort of simulation football league?

The Yellowknife Wraiths are currently in the midst of their greatest ever season standing at 9 wins from their opening 9 fixtures. Their defensive prowess has carried them to the W column a number of times despite the choking attempts of quarterback Matt Akselsen, could Vincent Sharpei be the piece to push them over the top to an Ultimus victory?

Let me start this off by saying I love it in Kansas City, so by no circumstances will I Ever want to see myself traded in a deal just to go play with someone, nor would I openly want any of my teammates to be traded just to appease myself. Secondly, I don’t know a whole lot about all the players here yet, but what I do know is that it seems like it would be a lot of fun to play with the Pennington’s. I have seen them around in certain discord chats(pretty sure I have) and it just seems like a family of players that would be fun to be around. Coupled with the fact that they seem to churn out powerhouse players in that family, in my opinion, it would be a no brainer to play with some of the best to play the game. I don’t know, I could be completely off on this. Someone may come around and tell me I’m stupid for this. Oh well, shit happens. Just seems like they would be fun to have in the locker room, and even better to have on the field. I don’t know what to write about anymore.

Obviously, I'd love to play ball with Mark Strike. It's hard to imagine why. Right now, Viggo Squanch is doing well for himself, considering who's passing to him.

Squanch has 27 completions in 8 games, for 350 yards. His average is 13 yards per catch, his long is 30 yards and he's reigned in 2 touchdowns in those 8 games. While Squanch is young, so is Pennington. I think that combination is hard on projecting Squanch's success. I'm sure with errant passes, Squanch isn't seeing the greatest looks. There's also been questions as to why Squanch is being overlooked by Legion, a guy who never shows up to practice, but we hope that's been taken care of.

But, having Mark Strike on the team would immediately change things. We'd see if Squanch really is the hero he claims to be, or if he's the problem. Maybe it's a combination of both.

However, looking at Strike's numbers it's hard to think that Squanch's numbers wouldn't rise immensely.

Strike is 139 for 249, resulting in 1496 yards. This is sadly only a 55.8 completion percentage, but he's thrown for 10 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions.

His main target is a 65 overall, with his peak target being a 67. Squanch is already a 67, approaching 69 after his training sets in.

Darren Morris would love to play with in deep coverage with another top safety - one of the guys that he's watched carefully to plan his own development maybe. You can't talk about elite safeties in the NSFL without talking about @Molarpistols Ian Bavitz. Turning on the jets in the past two seasons particularly, Bavitz has brought his game to a different level as a Free Safety. He's already notched 8 sacks, 6 interceptions and 8 pass deflections over 9 games - really incredible numbers. Morris and Bavitz together in deep coverage would be a dynamite team and, on either Arizona or Orange County, combined with the elite CBs would make probably the best secondary in the league.

Some of the other big safeties already have dynamic pairs, like Verns and Oakes, but I'd also love to get to play with @CDub2 Cameron Taylor. We're both S5 prospects who played against each other in the DSFL and it would be terrific to get to play with the only other safety from Morris' draft class. It'd be a fit on either team and maybe allow Morris to adjust to FS and better suit his skillset and let Taylor work his magic as a better equipped SS. That would be another incredible deep coverage duo, and one that would continue to develop in tandem and not face regression for at least 5 more seasons.

It's funny. I was going to write about my old teammate Carlito Crush. I've always wanted to play with him again since we both graduated from the Pythons. I always thought he was untouchable, given how much the Yeti have loved him since he arrived. And then, earlier this evening I saw the trade and was a little emotionally crushed. But that's the beauty of the league. Crazy stuff happens. Good luck to my dude Crush.

Otherwise, the real steals would be the genius game planners and team builders like @timeconsumer and @PDXBaller. They provide so much more than just an excellent starting players. I think any team would give the king's ransom for those guys.

So a realistic deadline acquisition would probably be my fellow S5 draft class guy @Roly. I agree with his post. We would compliment each other so well with our builds and we are both very young and already standing out on defence for our respective teams. Imagine building a secondary around two S5 safeties who have been proven starters for almost 3 seasons. That would be awesome. When he fell in the draft, I knew whoever got him had a dynamite player. Ideally, Arizona would be willing to part with him for a 2nd rounder (the same round he was drafted in), but I know he is worth much much more than that now.

Despite being brand new to the league and almost a season and a half away from joining the NSFL, Fitzpatrick would most want to join the Yellowknife Wraiths. Bailey Cook has the surest hands in the entire league, making for a reliable target that just about any cornerback would struggle to bring down. On the opposite side of the field is Eric Kennedy, who joined as an unknown back in Season Two and has since emerged as one of the finest receivers in the league. It would be great to throw a short pass to him and see how many yards he broke for afterward. Having a receiver like that would be like playing the NFL on easy mode. Of course, if he got too bored of having it made, he could always switch things up and throw to up and comer Glenn McPoyal, currently third in the league in receptions, though with only two touchdowns. Finally, if that proved to still be too easy, there is still a real challenge on the team for a quarterback, Dermot Lavelle. The S2 Hall of Fame corner can make life miserable for any quarterback. Not through coverage. He’s garbage at that. But Lavelle also likes lining up at WR, where he will drop just about everything.
